Why: Formal meeting, Discussion on the Relics.
Length: Roughly 19 posts

Eileen Crow

Eileen stepped into the building, a little less timid this time around. She glanced around in silence, her eyes giving off a gentle glow of curiousity. She didn't spot anyone at first, and stepped further into the room.

"Hello?"

Jaden Silvermoon

"Hello!" Jaden called from the back room, a sudden *CRASH* coming from there as well. A single round ball bounced out into the shop, landing near Eileen's feet before it was followed out by the satyr. "Oh! Hello there," he said, seeing her. "I as wondering when you'd arrive."

Eileen Crow

She smiled uneasily, reaching down to pick up the ball. She played a quiet game of catch with it. She smiled at Jaden a little more securely. "I would have been here sooner, but 'tween Connor and James..." She grinned vaguely at the thought of the boy and man at 'home'.

"But! I'm here now." She beamed in a rather meek fashion.

Jaden Silvermoon

Chuckling, Jaden leaned against the counter and tilted his head to the side, one braid falling over his shoulder. "Did the sword find its way to you well enough?" he asked, the smile on his face belying the fact that he knew exactly where every relic was at all times.

Eileen Crow

She looked at him, a little surprised. She had just thrown the ball up when he said that, and caught it rather roughly. She finally smiled, though it was a little shaky.

"Yeah, it did. Surprised me a bit at first, but its there." She nodded, her smile growing uneasy.

Jaden Silvermoon

"Good!" Jaden grinned, resting his chin on his palm. "Make sure you leave it outside... otherwise nothing will happen."

Eileen Crow

She nodded, thinking to herself. "I'll do that when I get home. I've got a spot that I'm sure it'd be safe in." She nodded to herself, affirming the thought in silence.

Then she looked at him, and remembered her manners. She held out her free hand, smiling uneasily. "I'm Eileen, by th'way."

Jaden Silvermoon

"Jaden Silvermoon," he replied, bowing politely to her and kissing the back of her hand. "Tis a pleasure to meet you, m'lady." The smile crossed his face once more and he settled behind the counter. "And I'm glad. That one was meant for you... they all have someone they're waiting for." He spread his hand then, motioning to the eclectic array of nick-nacks, weapons, jewellery and other anonymous THINGS that decorated the cluttered little shop.

Eileen Crow

"Pleasure." She replied, smiling at him. Then she grinned, and nodding. "It's a beautiful sword." She commented quietly, looking around quietly. Her thoughts flew over basic nick-nacks, and right to the weaponry.

She shook the thought away from her head, and smiled at him meekly. "What's going to happen if these...relics...don't find where they belong?" She asked briefly, frowning.

Jaden Silvermoon

"Then they'll wait..." he said simply, glancing towards the relics and watching them for a moment. "It may take time... but they always find someone."

Eileen Crow

She nodded vaguely, watching the relics in silence. "I don' think they'll all have long to wait. They're all of excellent craftmanship." She smiled vaguely.

Jaden Silvermoon

That brought a grin to Jaden's face, the satyr shifting his weight from one hoof to the other. "I do have to admit that their craftsmanship is not my own. They are relics, drawn here from Arcadia itself, and call out to those that are attached to them still."

Eileen Crow

She nodded, understanding. "I first thought they were creations of your own." She smiled at the satyr meekly, feeling a little sheepish about her automatic guess.

Jaden Silvermoon

"While I thank you for your kind words, I cannot take credit for them. Their crafters have long since passed on... now I simply have to make certain that their descendants survive." Jaden reached then, fingering the pendant that hung around his neck. "This one, for instance... was made by my great grandfather. It fell into the hands of a mortal woman, and it was what drew my parents to her when I was a babe myself. I'm hoping that these relics will do the same for others now."

Eileen Crow

She nodded vaguely, eying them quietly. "Does anyone know before hand, what will be drawn to the relic?" She was curious, and couldn't help the nosiness that was natural for her.

Jaden Silvermoon

"Not really," the satyr answered slyly, but there was something about that glint in his eyes that made someone think twice about that statement. He obviously knew more than he was saying.

Eileen Crow

She eyed him, and frowned vaguely. But she wouldn't push to satyr to answer her question. She simply nodded, smiling at Jaden. "I see. It's all by stroke of chance, then?" She stepped closer towards one of the relics, eying it quietly.

Jaden Silvermoon

"Not really chance, per se..." he drawled, smiling faintly. "It's a matter of matching up a relic with the person that would do best for the child involved."

Eileen Crow

She nodded briefly. "I think I get it." She finally muttered, eying the relic curiously. Then she turned, smiling lightly. "I should go. I have to get home to Connor and the sword." She started for the door, and stopped, turning to smile at Jaden.

"I'll be back." She pointed out briefly, before walking out the door.

Eileen had been dwelling on what the satyr had told her. His words echoed so clearly in her mind.

"Make sure you leave it outside... otherwise nothing will happen."

She had an idea of where to place to sword. A place that only she would know about, only she would be able to find. She was sure the sword would be there.

The dark haired woman was sitting on her bed, the sword laid across her lap. Its scabbard was off to the side, and she was carressing the blade fondly.

Her fingers darted over to the rubies, and she traced her fingers along the rubies, smiling to herself gently. After her fingers idly brushed across the rubies, she returned her fingertips to gently trace along the spikes standing out from the handle of the sword.

She sighed to herself, and reached out, grabbing the scabbard. With great care, she put the sword in its scabbard, and rose.

Her steps were light, and she was almost certain she would go to her hiding place unnoticed. Carrying the sword close to her chest, she stepped out into the brisk, almost-night air. It wasn't quite dusk, yet, but the sky was already beginning to darken. It was cold out, and she burrowed into her thin jacket quietly.

As she reached the edge of the forest that surrounded the manor she was staying in, adrenaline rushed to her legs, sending her into a sprinting run.

It was a long run, but she was greatful to feel the wind in her hair, blowing the purple tresses away from her face as she ran. She finally came to the spot she had hoped she would find with ease.

She slowed to a stop, looking around in silence. It was a clearing, obviously. The trees around it made a perfect circle. She walked towards the center, where there stood a small tree.

The distance between the clearing and the manor was vast, but she was sure that the sound would carry if something tried to get the sword. Tying the sword around a branch, she finally stepped back, admiring the knots.

With one last stroke of the sword's handle, she turned. She made a silent promise to return the next morning and make sure nothing got to the sword. With her vow silently spoken, she began the light jog back to the manor.

Part of her hoped that she would come to find the sword alright. But another part dwelled on what the satyr had said. "Make sure you leave it outside... otherwise nothing will happen." Her mind wandered as she ran, wondering just what might happen now that she left the sword outside for whatever-was-looking for it.

In the night, something did indeed come to visit. The outline of footprints across the frost-tinged grass lent credence to that particular fact. The second indication was the sword itself, now hanging askew from the branch where one of the knots had been picked at until it had come loose. However, the rustling sound of the sword sliding to rest diagonally from the branch must have frightened away whatever or whoever had done it.

Perhaps they will come back again?

She laid on her bed in the early hours of the morning, frowning quietly. She moved her arms closer around herself, holding the leatherbound book to her chest.

Her eyes were on the sword. It was early, and she was sitting out by the sword. Watching. It had been set askew, and footprints were there around it. It looked like whatever it was had been picking at the nods.

Finally reassuring herself that whatever it was wouldn't come back while she was there, she turned to the first page in her journal, and began to write.

Entry 1

Journal Entry 1,

...I thought I was losing my mind. I put the sword out here, as Jaden instructed. I did this last night, and was sure it'd be safe.
...It is. But it was tampered with by something. The knot is almost undone, and the sword is diagonal. I wonder what could have been trying to get the knot.
...Was this the big change that'd happen that Jaden pointed out? ...I don't think so. There must be something bigger than this.
...But now I'm debating. Should I leave the sword just here, for whatever it was that wanted it? Or should I sit here and guard it?
...Maybe I should consult James. He might know. Or Jaden, even.
...Maybe...

She sighed to herself, and rose onto her knees. From her knees, she pushed up to her feet, and walked to the sword. She didn't retie the knot completely, but she tightened it so the sword wouldn't fall.

Finally sure it would stay that way until she got back, she started through the trees back to the manor. She glanced back once to eye the footprints, too small to be a normal persons and too feet-like to be an animals, and shook her head.

"'m losin' it." She muttered on the walk back, finally exiting the forest. But the thought of the footprints never left her mind.

That evening, just after dusk, a sharp wail drifts across the mist from the forest to the manor. It seems to come from the direction of the sword...

Or more to the point, where the sword had been. It is gone now, the knotted cord dangling empty from the branch.

Now, at the base of the tree lays a woven basket, shielded from the elements by a thick blanket. It wriggles slightly, as if something is inside.

Upon closer inspection, a dark-skinned hand reaches out, a moment before the child comes into view.

The wail had grasped her attention, as she'd been just on her way to the sword to inspect it. She bolted into a run, starting for the clearing.

It had grown somewhat dark in the forest, and she ignored the scrapes and nicks that branches randomly gave her as she bolted past them. She ignored the pain in her leg from running into a branch head on, and finally neared the clearing.

That's when she saw it. The basket. She stopped herself, her eyes wide. Her steps grew cautious as she neared the basket. The thing wailing inside was obviously young, an infant.

She neared the basket, and fell to her knees to inspect. Immediately, a black hand reached out, grabbing at her hand. She almost jumped, but relaxed somewhat.

She looked over and into the basket, and the 'aww' worthy moment was there. "Oh my god..." She frowned, picking the baby up out of the basket. "Where's your mum, little one?" She looked around, but the hints that anyone left him was nowhere to be found.

She rose gently, grabbing the basket and looping it under her free arm. She held the baby nestled in the crook of her neck, and the baby stopped wailing after a moment or two.

She started back to the manor, and something rolled off her tongue: "We'll take you home, little one." Home. She would take him to their home, because god be damned if she was going to leave him out for the wolves.

A while after she arrived home with the baby, she was sitting in the living room. She had been thankful to find a discarded bottle, and had filled it with some warm milk. It was all she had at the moment, so she hoped it would do.

And do it did. She sat in the living room, craddling the baby in her arms. She had discovered its sex on accident, changing the baby into warmer clothes. She held the baby close, wrapping him in a blanket.

"We'll call you Antonio." She whispered to the almost sleeping child. "It a spanish name. It means 'worthy of praise'."

The baby opened his gray eyes, and seemed to smirk at her. He liked that name. She smiled down at the baby. "Like that, yah?" He nodded his affirmination, before returning to his bottle.

She rocked him silently for a while, the only noises were the gentle suction Antonio made with his bottle. Finally, the silence was gnawing at her. She began to hum.

The humming caught Antonio's ear, and he looked up, watching the woman quietly. The humming was what put him to sleep. After a few moments of watching her, his silver eyes closed, and he was asleep.

Craddling Antonio in her lap, she dug out the book quietly, smiling. "We're gonna write today, 'Tonio." She grinned at the baby, who was currently gnawing on the hand of Connor's stuffed bear and looking up at her with wide, gray eyes.

She smiled, shaking her head. "I hope you grow out of that soon. Connor's gonna kill us." She smiled, playfully tapping his nose.

Antonio frowned, rubbing his nose quietly and looking at the book. He reached out for the pen in Eileen's hand. Eileen frowned, and opened it to a clean page, giving him the pen.

Antonio smirked triumphantly at his little doodle.

Eileen laughed, taking the pen. "Alright, my little Leonardo DiVinci." She smiled, bouncing him on her knee as she turned to another page.

"Let's try this again, okay?" She smiled at the baby, who went back to gnawing on the hand of the bear.

Entry 3

...He's here. The beautiful baby, Antonio, is here. He's such a darling boy. He's so young, so full of life.
...But he's got his faults. Like his biting. The boy couldn't have spikes on his hands. I could deal with that. Nooo. He had to have fangs.
...But that doesn't mean anything. He's got quite a little attitude, though. Horrid awful. I think he's a prince, though. Literally.
...But that's okay. Connor met him, and took him to the Orphanage. Callah adores him! Maybe she'll make a good mother when she comes of age.
...Let's just hope whoever she chooses doesn't meet Connor. The boy's horrid possessive.
...And why am I using the word horrid so often? ...Bah.
...Okay. The kid is now salivating on me. I've gotta close this up.

Eileen laughed, closing the book and picking Antonio up. "Whaddaya think you're doing!" She teased, falling back so Antonio was in the air, as if he was flying.

Antonio giggled gleefully, holding his hands out. He had forgotten about the teddy bear, and was having fun in the air. Eileen moved him back and forth, as though he was flying.

Antonio was asleep, that Eileen was grateful for. He laid in the small baby basonette. She settled back, working on something. Her fingers moved deftly, weaving threads gently.

Time slipped by her easily, and she finally looked up at a clock, realizing how late it was. She smiled slightly, and rose, stretching out her cramped legs.

Eileen moved quietly towards the baby, and picked him up, smiling. "You're such a darling baby." She whispered to the sleeping form, cradling him against her.

Antonio didn't stir, but sleepily burrowed into the newfound warmth. Eileen reached down, gathering his quilt up. She draped it over the babe, and began the walk downstairs.

It was hardly night anymore. The sun hadn't yet begun to rise, but it was beginning to dawn. She closed her eyes quietly, relaxing back on the porch into a chair.

She looked down at Antonio's sleeping form, and smiled to herself. She gently brushed her fingers through Antonio's hair, her eyes soft.

The baby began to stir, and opened his mouth to release an annoyed, ear-splitting cry. Immediately, she removed her hand, and touched his lips. "Shh.." She murmured, her eyes soft.

"Would you like me to sing to you, Little Prince?" She whispered, shifting him against her. Antonio burrowed closer to the woman, yawning. She smiled at the baby, before looking out towards the forest.

"Ave Maria, please pardon me..." She began, her voice soft, but drifting through the wind. "If in your house, I have come, stealing."

Her voice picked up a pitch, and the voice carried up into the house. Connor woke to the voice, and frowned. He rose, following it downstairs.

He smiled when he saw his mother singing, and watched by the door.
"Ave Maria, no one ever taught me, about kneeling..." She watched the baby. "Ave Maria, please, will you keep me? From the misery, madness, and fools... who rule this evil world..."

Connor's eyes gave off a gentle glow. He didn't have to touch Eileen to know what she was thinking. Remembering, rather. He watched her quietly, frowning.

Eileen's mind was elsewhere, on a baby she'd lost in her own time. "Ave Maria, I'm a stranger, and you're my last recourse." She closed her eyes. "Ave Maria, Please, can you hear me? Please take down all these walls between us... We all should be as one.."

Connor smiled, moving towards his mother. The next verse came, and he picked it up for her, realizing she was forgetting. "Ave Maria, please watch over my love, night and day. Ave Maria, oh please protect me.."

Eileen smiled up at the boy, listening. "Please guard me and my love, now I pray..." His eyes were out at the forest. "Ave... Mariiiaaa..." He finished.

Eileen smiled at the boy quietly, before her gaze returned out at the forest. Connor lowered himself to the wooden floor of the porch, his head resting against her knee.

Antonio was blissfully asleep, dozing after his bottle. Eileen watched from her spot on the bed, and smiled. She reached out, grabbing the journal gently in her hands.

Smoothing over it, she read over the last few pages -- smiling fondly at his sketch -- and then opened to a fresh page. Digging out her pen, she began to write.

Entry 4

...He's perfect.
...Just absolutely stunningly beautifully perfect. I love him so very much. Antonio's such an adorable baby. He's so...perfect!
...I can't wait until he's older. He's so adorable now, though... I don't want him to grow up.
...Like a mother does, I've been thinking. He's going to get older, he's going to grow up and leave me. I made myself cry, thinking like that. Eventually him and Connor are gonna wanna move out, and live on their own with their family.
...But I'll raise them right. They'll want to come and visit their Mummy, with their little ones and their lovers and their perfect family.
...I hope I do the right thing with these two. I've already lost one child, I don't want to lose another.
...James knows about my ex-husband. Well...my then-husband. I don't know if time travel insures a divorce. But we were on our way there anyways.
...Every time I look at Antonio... I see her. My little Emily. She was so young when it happened... I don't want that to happen to Antonio. That would kill me, it would. I don't want to lose my babies.
Tears began to stain the page.

Eileen rubbed her eyes, and gently picked up Antonio, cradling the dark form against her. Antonio didn't wake, simply dozing on. She watched him, tears dripping down into his dark locks.

She brushed her finger against his cheek, gently. "I love you, little 'Tonio." She whispered, her eyes soft.

There was a knock at the door. Upon opening it, it appeared that no one was there, but on the doorstep, a festive easter basket, brimming with candies, was left.

The centerpiece of the basket, nestled in beside the chocolate bunny with the marzipan eyes is a painted egg.

Poking out of the plastic grass of the basket, there is a letter:

Karma
Dear Eileen,

Happy (early) Easter! I realize I've never met you before, but I found your name on Jaden's shop roster along with your address and I thought it would be a good idea to say hello. My name is Karma and I am the keeper of Arkanti, one of the other Changeling children. I promise I'm not a stalker or anything. Honest! I realize that your baby may be too young for the candies, but that doesn't mean his mommy can't enjoy them for him if she likes. You may have noticed the painted egg, and just to let you know, its not for eating. The yolks have been blown out so that it will survive long past this Easter if you would like to keep it.

I hope to meet you soon!

Love,
Karma and Arkie

Smiling to herself gently, Eileen picked up the baby that was half-asleep in her chair. She began walking outside, carrying the bundle wrapped in a red blanket.

Singing gently to Antonio, she walked to the clearing where she found the baby. She smiled, singing quietly. "Sleep little babe, don't you cry.." She sang, her eyes downcast as she looked around.

"Sweet, try to rest, in a cradle of gold..." She hummed, sitting. She rocked the black baby, singing softly. "Sleep baby, sleep. Sleep with no fear."

"Mother is here beside your pillow.." Her eyes closed, she relaxed back. Antonio drifted into a further sleep, frowning. "Sleep little baby, don't you cry."

She closed her eyes. "Sweet, try to sleep..." She looked at Antonio, and smiled gently. Her fingers gently weaved through his blue-streaked hair, comfortingly.

Antonio gripped onto the blanket, his eyes closing tighter. He began to whimper in his sleep.

"Sleep, baby, sleep. Mother is here with you, forever." She held Antonio closer, frowning. He relaxed against the warm woman holding him, the nightmarish whimpering beginning to fade.

She watched the babe, her eyes concerned. This was the second night now, that he'd seemed to be having nightmares. She stroked his back gently, closing her eyes gently.

"I'll have to talk to Jaden about it." She resolved quietly, leaning back against the centre tree in the small clearing. She held Antonio, staring up at the leaf-spotted sky.

Quest Time!

Antonio has been with you for about a month now, and it's time to let him grow!

In order to help him advance to his next stage of development, you will need to help him through his nightmares. Find ten items either in minishops or in RL that may help him sleep better at night. Even if the nightmares continue, at least you can say you tried!

Eileen smiled. She'd been working a while on the quest that was given to her. She looked over the plans, then at the room again. She smiled at Connor, who glared at her tiredly.

She grinned. "It's done." She had completely redone a room, to try and help him sleep better. It was closer to her room, and there was a door that separated her room. She took the door down, and made the doorway into a dome-like entrance.

Connor rolled his eyes, and walked out. Eileen followed, getting Antonio. She carried him inside, pointing out the room. "See, baby? You've got new toys!" She pointed at a set of teddy bears in his room. One was sitting on a toy chest, the other was in his new crib.

Antonio smiled, reaching out quietly. She grinned, and handed him the black bear. He held it, sucking on its ear childishly. Once she realized he was ready to move on, she picked up a wood carving. "This was made by a friend of mine for you, darling." The baby smiled at it quietly, and closed his eyes, yawning.

She smiled, and laid him down. "We got'chu a new blankie, too, baby." She covered him up in a blanket she'd bought. Antonio rolled over sleepily, his eyes closed.

She walked to the dresser that stood taller than most of everything in there. She wanted it tall because of the contents on it. She reached up, pulling a nightlight down. She turned it on, placing it down. The lights circled around the room, and she smiled triumphantly. She turned back to the dresser, and lit something. Smoke lifted from an incense cone, filling the room with -- what she hoped -- a soothing scent. The boy shifted, and yawned in his sleep, but didn't stir. She smiled.

She looked over the rest of the room. Scattered around was three different type of candles. One was a specially made candle by her friend, Chao. Six were rose candles, that came in a set. And one, she particularly liked, was a butterfly candle that rested near his bed. She smiled, and walked through the archway, letting a curtain fall. It was a sheer curtain, but it granted privacy. She smiled, closing her eyes.

"Success." She fell onto the bed.

Eileen sat in the new baby's nursary, smiling at Antonio. Antonio was watching the baby in Eileen's arm somewhat cautiously. He saw what she could do. Part of him was amazed, the other part was scared.

Shego glanced over in silence at Antonio, and her dark eyebrow arched vaguely. She turned back to the newest toy she'd gotten a hold of, and started trying to rip it apart.

Antonio smiled fangily, watching her quietly. Eileen finally spoke. "Her name's Shego, 'tonio love." She smiled. Antonio looked up at Eileen, frowning slightly.

Then, he opened his mouth, and formed the words. "S'eego."
Eileen almost dropped the baby. Shego glanced over, and smirked at Antonio, who returned the smirk wholeheartedly. "S'eego."

Shego reached out, trying to get to Antonio. Eileen shook her head, grinning. "Come up here, 'tonio love." Antonio climbed up obediently, and took Shego, who was almost as big as he was. He held her, smiling and playing with her, often repeating her name, "S'eego."

Eileen watched in silence, smiling as she dug out a diary. She began to write quietly, watching the two youngest children interact.

Entry 5

...Antonio has been a toddler for a few days, and already I'm beginning to realize how fast he is growing. It almost pains me to say it, but I wish he'd stop growing. I love him so much.
...Through these past few days, through boo-boos and ouchies, I think Antonio's beginning to interact far more than he did as a baby. Speaking of babies...
...I've adopted yet another child, by the name of Shego. Antonio, I believe, loves her.
...He spoke his first word today, actually. A form of Shego, he calls her S'eego. Understandable, since he can't pronounce 'Sh' yet.
...Oh, yes. And he bites. Awfully hard. He's grown a set of baby fangs, which I hope will fall out, but am pretty sure won't.
...He's lovely at this age. So vibrant and beautiful and full of life. He's going to change, I know it. But for now, I'm treasuring the time I have with him.

Eileen watched the babies playing, and smiled when Shego began to yawn and settle in. She reached down, picking her up. Antonio made a noise of protest, and she smirked, picking him up as well. "I think its time for all little ones to take a nap."

Antonio frowned and looked at Eileen. "S'eego?" Eileen smiled, nodding. "Yes, Shego's going to sleep, too." Seeming pleased with that, Antonio nodded, and dropped down into his crib.

He settled in, and watched Eileen carry Shego into the other room. He smiled faintly, and rolled over, burrowing under his covers. "S'eego sleep." He nodded faintly, before drifting off.
