Shalott liked the parks around Crystal Academy. It was on the better side of town where all the posh citizens of Destiny City lived. Crystal itself was a private school she happened to work at and knew that a lot of the children there came from money. So it wasn't surprising that their parks were some of the nicest and well kept around.
And Shalott was a playful sort of woman.
Right now she was perched on a swing drifting higher and higher toward the full harvest moon overhead. Yes, she was perfectly aware that she was no ten year old girl but something about the earth sweeping past her feet and the feel of the wind in her hair made her feel a little more alive and less like she was weighed down by guilt, fear, or anger.
There were some things kids just got right.

Posh parks did not keep Aurora away from them. Maybe, just maybe, it was time to hang out at a new park. Not that she would abandon her old park. But this posh park might be just the place to get a little peace and-- Order alert, Order alert, Order alert! The dark mirror senshi groaned as she continued her approach. A lot of her encounters at parks had been peaceful so far, but in the long run it had made her slightly more cautious. Just slightly. What she wasn't prepared for was a Knight type person swinging. And this knight person wasn't even Sutai! She looked to be a grown woman! Oh my gosh, so you could actually have fun at this age! Not that it would stop Aurora anyway, but... yeeeeeees. She didn't move, enraptured by watching this knight having fun.

Shalott was swinging her troubles away, a huge grin on her face until she felt a Chaos signature close by. She skidded to a stop, hopping neatly from the swing while it was still a bit in motion and looked around for what had alerted her, not that Aurora was hard to spot. The one thing about being a knight, or maybe just an Earth Knight, was that no one could sneak up on her.
She crossed her arms, all trace of the carefree woman she'd been was gone.
"You may as well come on out."
There was no sense in hiding and the Squire tensed in case there was a fight. She didn't want that, though, and missed her swing. It seemed like every time she was happy the Negaverse somehow managed to come in and ******** it up. That earned a sigh from her.
"What's your name?"

"Ahahahaha. I guess that I tend to interrupt people, which I don't really mean to do. Sorry." The girl held up her hands defensively, trying to show that she meant no harm. "I was just watching you have fun and thinking that it's great to see someone older not worry about anything at all!" Envious~ She stepped out of the shadows, her hands still held up slightly. Or at least the long sleeves that covered her hands. "My name is Sailor Aurora! What's yours?"

"It's a rare moment when I have time to myself."
Not that she minded usually when someone, a friend generally, interrupted her good times. Friends tended to compound on the good feelings and make good times better. Though the chaos aura was hard to ignore Shalott relaxed a little. She had no interest in fighting tonight. Or any other, really.
"I'm Shalott, of Earth."
She could be polite, at least, and offered to share the swing set with this young senshi. Whether she was corrupted or a DMC was up for debate. Shalott didn't have enough experience with either to really know the difference. If the girl was so concerned with the fun she was having she was welcome to have her own. This was not an exclusive park and so far as she knew it wasn't a war zone. In fact, at the moment being powered up seemed rather arbitrary.
"What brings you out?"

Of Earth. Holy crap there actually were other knight people from different planets other than Venus. EARTH, even! Aurora stared as the realization hit her that this was INDEED true. Then she blinked when she realized that her staring was just a little rude! Oh wait. Sutai was a knight from Polaris. She forgot about that. But all knights were from Earth? .. but Shalott was of Earth? Uuugh, whatever! It was still neat! "Ahahahaha. Nice to meet'cha, Shalott." Aurora crossed over to seat herself in swing next to her. "I just wanted to test out the swings in this side of town. Usually I'm at the park by my house, but I keep getting waylaid by White Mooners there. Ehehehe, I guess I can't escape that. Not that it's bad. But sometimes I just want to swing!" The girl started to pump her legs. "But you're the first Knight of Earth I've ever met! I've met a few people from Venus and one from Polaris. Was beginning to think that's all there was, ahaha."

Telling a member of the opposite side where she lived in approximation was probably not the smartest of ideas, especially since Aurora didn't know Shalott at all. The knight had no interest in tracking her down but if she ever found her by another swing set just maybe it was the park near her home.
Thanks Goodness she was not the vengeful type. Or a stalker. Or even particularly bothered with those kinds of details.
"There's quite a few of us around, truth be told."
But not surprising that she knew no few of them considering she was an Earth knight herself. She leaned back in her swing and let it move in lazy arcs back and forth without having to put in any real effort. She watched the Senshi with her enthusiasm and almost chuckled aloud.
Ah, youth.
"This is a war my dear, though I think fighting is senseless and doesn't solve anything. Perhaps you might be better suited to try and swing while not powered up? That is, if you keep getting interrupted."

Saying something like that hadn't occurred to the young senshi that it would be a bad idea. That someone actually could theoretically hunt her down by watching her swing and then stalk her back to her home. Aurora was far, far too trusting, it seemed. "Oh!" Aurora blinked. "Oh, yeah. I know it's a war and all. Hey, you think that fighting doesn't solve anything either?" Wow! This was like, the nth person that she met who actually had the same idea in mind. That was pretty exciting. "I've heard a few other people say that too. Sooooo.. if there's enough people who actually think that, then why is it still going on?" "Well... that might be a good idea," she mused as she continued to pump her legs. "But I just like .. I guess I feel more special and feel like I'm training if I'm powered up when I do it. Like I'm ready for anything. AND I'm toning my legs!"

Shalott was coming to believe in peace, strongly, and her own pacifist role in this war. She nodded along with Aurora and once the question was asked she had to pause, scraping her feet along the ground a little. It wasn't an easy question to answer.
"I'm afraid it's not so simple. We can believe in peace and preach it all we like but there are still others, powerful people, that don't believe in peace. They keep prodding this war along unaware, or perhaps uncaring, of the casualties on either side or even worse of those that have no place in it. Innocents."
She thought of her dear husband and how much he tried to promote peace to those around him. She thought of others, though, like Benitoite, Painite, and Sugilite and shuddered. Those were the ones to stop. Until they could be stopped the war would go on. And those weren't the only ones. The DMC leader, and there had to be other Negaverse agents, too.
"The thing is unless we act on peace and join together to keep innocent people from getting drained or hurt this war will always happen. We should all work together regardless of sides if we have a common goal."
She believed in that cause and wished it could happen but was too cynical to believe it actually would. The Squire frowned and then chuckled.
"I'm not sure this is a leg work out more than mild cardiovascular."

ZaiaFantasy Sorry for the huge delay :c Though Shalott stopped in her swinging to answer a very heavy question, Aurora just kept going. She didn't want to lose the good feeling she had while she was doing this. Even if this was such a troubling subject. Her speaking of a common goal, though, at least made the girl slow down. "I wonder.. what kind of common goal we could all have. But yeah, I understand. There are some people who will just beat you up in a heart beat. No questions asked." She frowned deeply, but only for a moment as a slow smile crept onto her lips. "But I for one thing that it could happen, no matter how fruitless it sounds. You can't ever lose sight of your hope." She grinned and continued with her mild cardiovascular work with the swing. "Leg work out? Cardio? Either way, I'm getting some training in~"

"It's all in how you look at it, I suppose."
Kyndall smiled and leaned back putting her long legs to use. What she said was a lesson she'd do well to bear in mind more often. It was all in how you looked at it. She knew as well as anyone else that this war was a very difficult thing and sometimes simply trying to see things from another perspective made all the difference.
She climbed higher again and digested the question Aurora asked her, swinging high to look up at the stars each time she moved forward. It wasn't just one thing she wanted to do with her power: there were several goals they could have in common and things they could do to help end the war or at least make it more civil.
"My goal is and always has been protecting the innocent and trying to unite those I come across, those all around me. It's a difficult goal but I believe one worth continuing to work on."
She started skidding to a halt again, dangling on the swing when she was done and wondering if she'd ever actually make strides toward that. She taught her students all day that one person could make a difference but when it come to her own ambitions she was not always so sure. She believed in the cause, though, and so did Camelot her partner.
"Why is it you're fighting, my dear? What is your goal?"

"Uhm, my goal?" She didn't even have to think about it. As she slowly pumped her legs, the girl's eyes drooped as if in a daze. There were few regrets, at least for now. And this goal was all that really mattered. The reason why she was here in the first place. "To have a family. And a home to go to." Ares had offered that. She offered a family in the Dark Mirror Court and the goal to going back to her planet. Of course, the latter was probably a secret kept from the Order. It was really too bad she couldn't just tell her "enemies" that so they could work on a solution together. But rules were rules. "That's, really all I want."

"Don't you have a family here, dear? A home?"
She meant, of course, in the real world. She knew all about her wonder by now and was getting bits and pieces of her past life, one that included a lot of her partner, Camelot. As encouraging as she found that, that she had him with her in the past and in the present and likely again in the future, she also had a family here, too. She had Harmony to cling to and love. It didn't matter where she came from - here she had a home, now. Through her challenging life she didn't know what she would have done without her daughter.
"Isn't there anyone in this city that you can call family?"
Outside of her powered form, of course. She wanted to think that was why Chaos could seduce so many good people, by tempting them with things they lacked - a promise of something better. An often false promise as she learned with Benitoite. It didn't make them any better.
