San used his art of joint control to quickly shift backwards, then burst his way back in with his own simple strike. For training, this was certainly going a little intense. The again, he was a a sannin, and would have to pick up quickly.

"Well I see you're good at Dodging San. But," Knives said blocking the swing of San with the pivot block "While Shukan has the backward step like what you have done, Shukan does involve blocking." He smiled as he slide the metal against metal of his blade and San's getting closer to San as the technique was designed.. All the way keeping an eye on that red panda.

(If you wanna figure out a way how to swing that, I was under the impression I had to learn the principles etc)

○ Pivot Block
Simple :: D-Rank
The user pivots on the forward leg and deflects an incoming attack with their blade, setting them up for a highly effective counterattack. In addition, this movement sets the user up for a highly effective disarming technique, or even a throwing movement.

○ Forward Grind
Simple :: D-Rank
After blocking an incoming attack or after the opponent’s block, with the blade of choice, the user grinds his or her blade toward the opponent on the blocked weapon. This movement closes the distance between the user and the opponent while forcing the target’s weapon to remain still.

(hahahaha i completly forgot about the principles. Sure, i can add him in talking)

San would press into the attack with his own block, he would offer a smile. While he was not a master at Jing Shen Jie Fang, his bears had taught him the principles well. The basic combat principles were very effective for any form of combat, not just blade vs blade.

San made sure his block was locked well, as to keep the massive frame of Knives at bay. This style was certianly different then the Basai bagua he was used to and mastered, but prehaps he could play with it a little more.

'Oh look at the panda, it thinks it knows all the answers! I shall crush you with my tail! With that Knives began to feel the emergence of a sand tail behind him from his body.
'Oh now now Shukaku it's not nice to insult pandas, when you after all are a raccoon.' Knives politely reminded the demon after hearing the panda.

"That's all well and good, and this shall make trying to train and teach interesting" He said looking at San but really talking to the panda. Normally he would try to go into Olympia being this close to an opponent but right now that wasn't on the agenda. From what he knew of Shunkan it was all about pressing the attack, and that is what he planned to do. "Well San blocking and the basics seem pretty second nature already to you, so how about we kick it up a bit with something else." he said knowing that he himself had techniques at the A rank he had to learn himself.

"Since the basics are done and the upper stuff is well bit harder show I think a dummy is needed. Seriously something I need to learn to create but for now this should work." Knives said pulling a dummy out Satisfied that San knew the basics of blocking and thrusting with a blade from previous experience.

Knives pulled his blade and slowly at first began the strokes a quick deflect as a blade was swung at him by a dummy that was being controlled by one of the younger ninja, who had been voluntold for this duty this week. Knives moved into the strokes of calligraphy, once he believed had demonstrated the deflection enough, rapidly increasing his speed with each pass of the technique. Once he was going the speed he liked he stopped and transferred to a similar technique but provided deeper cuts than calligraphy. Knives believed that San would be able to keep up with the speed of the strokes, for they became almost a blur to any ninja who was a new one in the dojo at the time.

"These three in order are known as the deflection, calligraphy and the brush stroke. All three work together in order to help the other. Calligraphy is meant for quick strokes much like the art, however the cuts are shallow, and while they still hurt the opponent can still strike. However, this is what brush stroke is for, it provides the ability to get to the bone and prevent the usage of limbs etc." he told San and motioned for him to begin trying them.

○ Deflection One
Simple :: D-Rank
In the early stages of an opponent’s Taijutsu or Kenjutsu attack, the user raises his or her blade and slightly alters the course of the incoming attack so that it misses, allowing for a quick counterattack by the user.

○ Calligraphy
Simple :: C-Rank
A series of fine-point stabs and slices resembling calligraphy strokes. The wounds they inflict are shallow, but very painful and debilitating.

○ Brush Stroke
Simple :: B-Rank
A series of quick cuts that eclipse the Calligraphy technique in both speed and depth, but are much more difficult to work with. The cuts now pierce all the way through muscles, and can cut in to bone. This technique can only be seen by people with a speed rank higher than the user’s own.

San the man would continue his training, first off sending a static disruption to connect with Knives. This way, he could learn how Knives body responded/created the motions. This would be perfect as he too demonstrated his own stab.

San would quickly move backward out of the way to allow Knives the ability to demonstrate his skills, and San's threads picked up all the information. With this, his learning would go much much faster. Now it was his turn to demonstrate.

San too would move his sword, the Pedal of Flowing Steel, to make a deflection attack. It was greatly effective, and set the ninja up perfectly for a serious set of return attacks. This was a satisfactory technique.

But now it was on to the more difficult tasks. San took his blade, and mimicked the movement of Knives. His blade would arc through, cutting the dummy rapidly.

Still, the ninja could improve his technqiue. Trying it again, San observed how the blade rapidly cut the enemy, though the cuts were shallow. Still, the numerousness of the attack would allow for him to be able to deliver several nasty methods of death. Thats all tha was needed.

Brush stroke....this was an entirely other beast. An upper level attack, San was gonna have a hard time with this one. But with a gentle persistance, and a little hard sweat, he would make it through.

Taking his blade again, San slowly but fluidly went through knivess demonstration. He was seemingly getting the hang of it, but knew more practice was needed. He tried the technqiue again, this time the sequence was more fluid.

Performing the technqiue on the doll, San cut the dummy to the bone. A old dog had learned a few new tricks.

"Whats next sensei?"

'He learns quickly for such a small creature. Yet he was the one who sealed me I believe. I will crush him with my tail!
'Will you stop it with the tail! Seriously learn to let go of the grudge!'

Knives balked slightly at the calling of sensei for a moment and also wondered where the heck the panda went.
'I totally ate him while you weren't looking'
'I'm not going to even point out the flaws in that, but okayyyyy'

"Alright, getting back to what makes sense in a list of things. I want you to attack me." he directed to the assistant volunteer. "San watch." As the assistant attacked and knives moved his foot on a pivot to meet the blade in a block in the pivot block motion. Once his blade established contact Knives again moved down the blade with his own, similar to what he had done when he had San go through the early stage of Shunkan.

"That was the pivot block and what is known as the forward grind." The pivot block will allow you to either move into a disarm technique, or in my personal favorite, a throw." Knives flexed his hand at that comment.

"The final technique at this level is known as the disarming one. While there are other disarms in the Shunkan no Hagane this is the beginning." Knives focused on a point just beyond where the assistant's blade was and performed a basic stab, his opponent was not the target in practice this much as obvious. When knives own blade reached the point he wanted he quickly flicked his blade into his opponent's blade causing it to hit the ground with the ring of steel.

Was he having an internal discussion with the sealed beast? His nerve activity was through the roof. Shrugging it off for a moment, the ninja performed the pivot block on the attacking dummy.

Taking another moment to perform the forward grind, San would step forward and pres into the person closing the distance. Knives was a good teacher! He knew how to explain and how to teach things well.

"The footwork though less fluid is very similar to Basai Bagua. While i am not a buki specialist, i have become quite skilled with swords. This disarm is quite the unique ability i cant wait to add to my style. Whats next?"

'Whoa now buddy easy, sheesh do I have to let you out a bit to let you blow off steam?! Calm down'

"Well what is next is footwork. I take it you know the importance of good footwork. However, tell me San when you normally walk on thin objects do you normally use chakra in your feet to maintain a balance upon it?" Knives asked as he stepped upon a thin wire himself as he spoke to San without working his chakra. "This technique is known as the first step in thread walking. Handy yes, however, it only allows for walking, granted even walking at wired heights can help you sneak around your opponent." Knives stepped down and directed a student of his equal size to try and knock him off his balance.

The student tried by constantly pressing an attack, but he could not cause Knives to fall. "The second is known simply as your solid footing. Simple enough, but handing when being pushed to the ground can easily mean your death."

San listened intently to the teacher, and figured he could learn it easy enough. Knives was right, he really didnt have to reiterate the point of footwork to the Sannin. Still, the fact he was recognizing it was a good thing.

San too jumped up on the wire, wobbled for a moment, but then caught on to what he was doing. His balance certainly improved. Speaking, San gave a nod of approval.

"Yeah, usually if i stand on anything its an Iron Sand Cloud. This wire thing does help my balance though. This sword stuff is an interesting change from my ninjutsu."

Jumping down to the ground, San focused on his footing while Aioko spoke to Knives.

"Towerman, you are swifter then you seem. Jing Shen Jie Fang also focuses on keeping their footing solid. you could easily be a master if you wish it. "

San went through the memory of Shunkan no Hagane, and went to practice another technqiue. this technqiue, extension, would allow him to use sheer force to extend the depth of his cut. Powerful and versatile, san was excited as he performed the attack.

The next technqiue, and advanced B ranker, would allow him to hide a second strike. With this, San stabbed a dummy, and quickly pulled the blade back and performed the attack again. Although this was slow, he could tr it again.

The second time was much more effective. The weapon and the strike looked like a blur, as san was able to perform the technique with mere mastery. Satisfied, he moved on to the next technqiue.

Oye there was so much training! San hadnt had to do this in a while. His awarness would make this next technqiue easier to learn.

Sensory information, the practice of accuratly detect the location of an object. San sat and listened, feeling Knive's motion as he too would practice the arts. Satisfied, San listend to Aioko.

"The first principle is to move first then block. Just try to keep on your feet, and stay in near constant motion. Its easier if you practice entering the free spirit stance, which looks like so. If im using a weapon, that same stance chances ever so slightly to look like so. give it a try towerman!"

Principle: Move first then Block
Description: It doesnt take a medical ninja specializing in brain surgery to know that a moving target is more difficult to to hit then a still target. By practicing always moving, especially right before they block, the user allows their movements to become slightly more difficult to pin down. By moving with the direction of the attack, the user can even lessen the impact force, making their defenses easier to perform.

Free Spirit Stance
Rank: Training :: E
Description: Its interesting enough to think that a style that sells itself as being free and without boundaries would have a stance associated with it. Although a method of standing, it is mainly a practice of allowing the user to go from standing to full alert quickly, able to quickly burst into action after assessing a threat. the user brings their arms close to their body, hands close to their chin open with palms facing outward, their feet with on foot forward though 50-50 weight ratio.

Rank: Training :: E
Description: Taking the "Free Spirit" stance, the user now adds a single one handed weapon to in their front hand, holding it slightly lower with the tip facing the enemy with their other hand close to the weapon. This way, the user's other hand can stay engaged in combat easier.

Knives put away his weapon for now and practiced going into the stance in whith Aioko told him about. It seemed a simple enough stance and the principle of move then block, somewhat made sense to him. The biggest thing for Knives was to get in close and this would allow him to do that. One he was comfortable getting into stance without a weapon, his hands and feet moving quickly as he approached a dummy he drew his kukri.

The stance for a blade to Knives was very similar. The only difference was taking the time to make sure his blade was in the correct placement. Compared to some of his other stances this was much different. He motioned for some students to practice attacking him as he practiced moving into an attack and then blocking at the last moment

San continued to practice the next techniques of stage 4. this technqiue, using sheer force, would allow San to act like he hit the blade twice. A powerful attack, San was excited to perform it.

Taking his blade, and using it to attack an iron bar, San performed the twin strike. In a simple observation, the bar broke as the second hit occured. hurray for being a bad a**!!

the next technqiue was a more difficult, and slightly more powerful one. Taking the idea of of the Twin blade, San would apply it several times. This would make that strike all the more deadl when used in conjunction with Basai Bagua.

San took the weapon, and performed it again. This time, his blade went straight through multiple bars, making San very satisfied with his progress. Once again, aioko spoke.

"Very good! Now take our blade and practice a variety of combination stirkes. Down, up, out, in, in, out, try them all. Take our time though as it takes a great deal of training to trul make these techniques effective. "

Down-up Combo
Rank: Physical :: E-B
Description: The user performs a quick combo, one that can be performed offensive first or defensive first. The combo consists of a downward slash with their weapon, and an upward block/strike. When performed unarmed, the user performs a falling hammer fist and an upward forearm block/strike either to defend an in coming attack or act as a strike to the neck or head.
• If in "Two Spirit Stance" the user can perform this technique twice for one stamina cost. The user must train each rank individual, and performing it at that level cost that rank in stamina.

Inward Slash-Outward Parry Combo
Rank: Physical :: E-B
Description: The user performs a quick combo, one that can be performed offensive first or defensive first. The combo consists of a swift inward slash (tennis swing) and a deflecting, sturdy outward block. Unarmed, this combination is performed with a quick hook punch and a sturdy outward block with either the forearm or the elbow.
• If in "Two Spirit Stance" the user can perform this technique twice for one stamina cost, once with each weapon. The user must train each rank individual, and performing it at that level cost that rank in stamina.

Outward Slash-Inward Parry Combo
Rank: Physical :: E-B
Description: The user performs a quick combo, one that can be performed offensive first or defensive first. The combo consists of an outward horizontal slash and an inverted inward block (blade vertical with tip facing downward.) When unarmed, this is performed as a back fist/hammer strike an an inward forearm block.
• If in "Two Spirit Stance" the user can perform this technique twice for one stamina cost, once with each weapon. The user must train each rank individual, and performing it at that level cost that rank in stamina.

Knives smiled at San's progress and put away his kukri for a moment to practice each technique with his hands. While he may have been a buki master, he also enjoyed the taijutsu side of things. He practiced his free spirit stance moving quickly as if to block his opponent and then moving to strike at the neck and head of his enemy with his fists. Knives figured he would have to look into a style that helped his already large fists but that would be for later. Knives continued to practice his strikes each time adding more and more power behind them until the practice dummy had to be replaced from the repeated blows to the head over and over and this was just the beginning. While he understood it unarmed, he wished to try it with both a single and both his twin kukri. He grabbed one and went through the same motions feeling the weight as he moved his blade to block and slash with each attempt his speed becoming quicker and his accuracy and timing greater. He pulled his other kukri and did the exact same with them, with two blades he was able to get even more attacks in as each blade acted independently from the other. Knives felt himself sweat but he pushed on knowing there was little time to train so much.

Knives resumed his attacks in an unarmed stance moving to block and then hooking his opponent and then blasting them with his elbow. For he knew the elbow was one of the strongest points of the body particularly if hitting the smaller weaker parts of the skull. The use of his unarmed techniques was coming quickly to him however, he knew that it would be a long time before he was ever as good as the man they fought in the desert. This series of attacks was to focus on almost whip lashing his opponent by attacking inside and then outwards. With each attempt he was able to generate more and more power into each attack.

Knives moved on to the last combo unarmed the outward slash-Inward Parry. He would bring his hand as a back fist and block with his forearm. He wasn't a fan of the block with his arm, but hopefully his chain and armor would help prevent too much damage. At the same time he wanted to try this technique with both of his blades, it seemed for this one that two blades worked a lot better than the single blade or no blade. Knives moved and blocked inwardly with the back of his kukri and slashed outwards, attacking not only the torso but also training to hit the face and neck regions to end a fight quickly.

Knives had planned for this exactly and decided he would practice for a moment with the chains. He let lose a few feet of chain and stabbed forward like Shukan and performed a few of his techniques from Shunkan. However, once he was comfortable he began to work with the Jing Shen Jie Fang techniques with the length of chain that he had unleashed from his arms. He understood how the body worked and practiced manipulating the chains as an extension of his arms. It took some getting used to but eventually he was able to get the timing down to where the chain moved with limited resistance and delay from his own movements.

San, after much confusing with his profile and posting and s**t, finally could continue with his training. The next set of technqiues would almost finish off stage 4 for him, and this would make his rise as a serious Buki practitioner. While is raw skill was not as great, his refinement and depth of knowledge could prove effective.

The next technqiue was a deflection, and he waited to perform it as one of the kids tried to tag him with a staff. the staff was rendered useless, and San gave a smile. Now to take the weapon.

The next techqiue San would ahve to practice was called the advance of steel. He was going to need to do this if he would perform the feat he was thinking of. He was a sannin, and a sannin he shall be. No one would sneak up on him.

His press forward was perfect, allowing his weapon to be fully loaded on the staff of the student. In a few moments, San could launch the weapon away. Satisfied, San about gave it a try.

the weapon would go flying away, and San would give the kid a pat on the back. He woudl stand back up, and listen to Aioko. He had some interesting hings to do.

"The Next Principle is called circles and angles. Now that you are moving, try to move with your opponent to make their techniques weaker. While you are doing that, parry your opponents blade to clear it out of you. Now that you are close, swing from high to low and low to high. Keep them unable to defend, and surely your swift blade will hit its mark. "

Principle: Circles and Angles
Description: The user, through a little combative understanding and sheer combative need, begins to understand the idea of moving and attacking on circles and angles. This way, they are able to circularly avoid attacks and danger, or simply slip off the angle off attack their opponent uses.

Parry Clear
Rank: Physical :: D-B
Description: The user takes their weapon and parries an incoming attack, usually a linear one. Rolling their wrist, the user performs a downward angular slash to the enemies weapon or limb, looking for a possible disarm or simply just to get the weapon out of the way. When performed unarmed, the user performs an outward brush block to parry the opponents attack. Dropping their weight while simultaneously bringing down their hands, the user performs a double dropping palm attack to the opponents attacking limb, sending it down and across the enemy to offer an easier set of targets to attack.
• Each rank must be trained separately. After stage 6 has been trained, the user can now use this to transition from inside to outside of their opponent.

Tall Grass-Short Grass Combo
Rank: Physical :: D-B
Description: The user performs a quick combo, one that can be performed low first or high first. The combo consists of a low strike to the legs and a high strike to the head. The combo continues in a circular manner, going from an inside strike to an outside strike or vice versa. Unarmed, this combination is performed as a hammer fist and forearm strike/ridge hand, utilized in a similar manner.
• If in "Two Spirit Stance" the user can perform this technique twice for one stamina cost, once with each weapon. The user must train each rank individual, and performing it at that level cost that rank in stamina.
