There was no place like the town, although it also depends on which part of the town you are at. Some places are more exotic than others, and some parts are better left unexplored. However, the town is a good place to visit on the weekends, since there are a multitude of unique shops and cafes along the street that you wouldn't be able to find in places like the maul.
Since he didn't feel like eating cafeteria food again for lunch, Thanatos had decided to head to town. Alone because his rper was too lazy to rp two things at once Biskoto didn't enjoy the town that much; the air was a lot more polluted there, so it smells and tastes unpleasant. Although it wasn't the first time he traveled without his familiar, it still felt weird - a reaper without their weapon or familiar was pretty much useless, after all.
At least if he ran into any trouble, he would be able to summon her right away.

Amphi had indulged in a day away from the school. Between studying and artifact questing or so, the mermaid was drawing herself into complete seclusion from other halloweeners and well....that wasn't okay. At all.
Instead of dedicating time in the library, or in her dorm room...she had taken a pouch of silver seeds and headed into the town. She knew which parts to stay away from and which were okay to go in. She strayed from the alleys, in case she saw anyone that Roch knew. And then away from the alleys in case it was Roch's enemies....if he had any. She didn't have him for protection anymore, solely surviving on her own.
It had taken a month and a half, her sister's death and a lot of singing until she was hoarse for her to come to accept that it was time to start anew.
Anyways, feelings aside....She was glad to smell landwalker air...even if it was polluted. The good thing was she couldn't tell the difference. She was well on her way to browsing a book shop when she saw....actually she wasn't sure if it was him but...
He had the same height, the same build. His hair seemed different though. And there was no Biskoto but....
"Thanatos?"

Thanatos did not know a lot of people, and he was too far from home to actually meet anyone who might know him. Besides, the voice belonging to the person who just called his name was familiar, and even a little bit nostalgic... It didn't take him very long to figure out why.
"It's been a while," He grinned turning towards the source of the voice, "My little mermaid, Amphi."

Ah, the shift of bodies and sudden nostalgia hit. They were both older now, she could tell Thana no longer held the same air of his first year...Stronger and more confident she would even say.
And the grin. How she missed her friend Thana terribly. Visits to his dorm and talks, he was the reason she knew more about the world while Roch taught the rest. Danny and Lizzy and Xiu helped as well but...It was Thana she truly had to thank, her first and real friend.
At first the joy was hard to contain, and each step to him seemed to meld into a instant shame that she hadn't bothered to keep in touch with him. So drawn in her world that she couldn't bother him? She had been caught up with being caught by hunters, Roch's vacations, constant battles and now...the downside of healing herself. Each step almost seemed heavier...
It all melted though when she stood in front of him and cocked her head, smiling back at him. It was so easy just to smile at him, looking at that grin that she knew all that well. Once upon a time ago, it would've frustrated and confused her...now it was a warm sight to see "Hello Thana...." She reached out as if holding her hand for Biskoto and....and then turned her head around searching for the familiar..."It has been a long time Thana...A very long time." No Biskoto? Such a shame. With this visit, it only made Amphi owe the snake a personal visit as well when she was free. her hand dropped instead.. "You look much more...." Handsome was a good word but she didn't want to weird him after so long and settled on, "fancier....than I remember." Just look at the ornate coat and the more fur and..."Jack, A lot has happened since we talked last! How have you been? Oh that is if you're free...to chat and such?" She really hoped so. Otherwise the Reaper would find her at his dorm anyways demanding a chat. Or well trying to demand.
More like asking politely...really politely.

"It is odd for a reaper to be out without his familiar, isn't it?" Thanatos chuckled, partially because of Amphi's actions and partially because he was suddenly reminded of how light his shoulders felt right now. His grin widened ever so slightly, "Fancier? Is that all you could come up with? I'm sure there were a lot more adjectives you could have used... Nonetheless, thank you. You look as beautiful as ever, and I'm sure that if Biskoto were here, she would agree."
He chose to answer Amphi's question by offering her the crook of his arm, "I'm on my way to lunch, so why don't you join me, and we can chat over a meal? It has been a long time since we last chatted, so I'm sure that we have lots to catch up on."

"More odd to see you specifically without Biskoto. Usually you don't let her out of your sight." Amphi chuckled...then her eyes widened. Well she did have better but..."Well I was going to say handsomer, but knowing you It would be a solid boost to the ego." She grinned back at him, baby fangs tipping her lips. "But yes, you are a lot more handsome and fancier." Her face immediately turned red at the mention of beautiful.
Ah....she forgot that Thana would just so smoothly say that. Instead of brushing it off though, she looked down and smiled again. "Thank you Thana, and Biskoto if she was here as well."
The answer to her question was quickly answered by the offer of his arm and invitation to lunch. At first she hesitated, mostly because she was damaged in so many ways....would she burden Thana with this? And then other reminded her that she was his friend and to turn away again well....
"Lunch sounds fantastic and well..." Her stomach gave a small whine at the mention of food, "I guess I didn't eat before leaving again. So tell me..." She wrapped her arm over his arm, "Did you become a Knob in my absence?" Meanwhile Amphi may or maynot have become a Hob while they were separated...and she was close to graduation.

"Oh? You're absolutely right... That is an ego boost," Thanatos laughed, still grinning away as he led Amphi towards a cafe at the end of the street, "You're welcome... It's only been a few Octobers and you've learnt to properly accept compliments? How delightful~ I'm sure Biskoto would be proud."
Maybe he should summon Biskoto right now... It would be pretty surprisingly and probably a little disorienting, but he had a feeling that she wouldn't be upset since Amphi's here. Maybe a little later, when the rper typing this is feeling less lazy.
"I did," He replied, glancing down at the mermaid on his arm, "Looks like you don't need to be a Moirae reaper to be able to tell my past. Now, my guess is that you asking me that question meant that you yourself had been promoted?"

She flushed again, knowing that he would say that. It didn't help that she was still quite shy over saying something like that but..."Ah yes....it's what you said...a very nice...ego boost." She was joking of course and smiled shyly up at him. She made a joke, she thought it was good. Maybe to earn a chuckle.
"Speaking of Biskoto, I see she is vacant from her perch? Did she not want to come to town with you?" Maybe she'd like to see Biskoto too a lot (maybe when her rper wanted to get some snakey action on) but was just in general worried about the snake. Perhaps the town held a air or scent that Biskoto didn't like? "If so, what a shame. I bet we could find her a uhm...nice snack..or something here." she looked back up at him before cocking her head again.
"that's a good thing right? If I was a Moirae reaper, we wouldn't get along very well would we?" At least that's what she remembered from earlier discussions with Thana. "Congratulations though, We will have to celebrate in true style of graduation...if thats okay?" She grinned and then bobbed her head up and down.
"Yes! I made it to a Hob! Third year and almost close to graduating too. Though I have to find a mentor. I just haven't settled on what I want to do...if I want to stay in land or...go back to the sea." Back to the sea where she would find no sister and a clan looking to her for leadership...or to stay on land and gain skill set that could be useful..slowly work her way into accepting her role. "And life has gotten a lot less chaotic...it was a long road here though. And not without a lot of pain and less than wonderful memories."

"She doesn't like the taste of the air in town," Thanatos answered, glancing at the vehicles as well as the occasional pile of droppings from the Eponys pulling the carriages on the road, "She came with me once or twice in the past, but she had never really enjoyed it. If you wish to see her, you're more than welcome to visit her whenever you wish."
He couldn't help but chuckle at her comment, "Perhaps... I bear no ill will towards Moirae from the other houses, and they hadn't done anything to warrant my distaste." He wasn't as... Petty as some of the elders, or at least, he liked to think so.
"Let this be a celebratory lunch then," He held the door to a cafe open for her; it was a pleasant place, with soft wordless music playing in the background. Not at all fancy or expensive-looking, "A mentor? Is that what most graduating students do?" A pause followed, "Ah, and what is life without pain... But it might lessen the pain if you get it off your chest."

"Ah poor ghoul.....snake?" Amphi sighed, unlike the snake her senses weren't heightened in taste or smell or sight. They were heightened in hearing and even then, with so much sounds around...she was pretty good at blocking it out. "Wonderful." She clapped her hands and smiled. "It's a date then Friend!"
"Are you saying that because I presented myself as a Moirae or in general? I haven't met any other though, so its not like we could test that..." And to be honest, Even if Thana didn't feel anything towards the other houses...the other houses might not feel the same. When that day came, would Thana still feel the same? She wondered.
"Celebratory?" Her eyes widened and for a moment she looked confused and terrified. What did she have to celebrate beyond...No she had to remember that she was on a positive outlook now. She wasn't sunshine and bubbles but by jack, she would be jackdamn normal!
"Uhm...Uhm yes...." She looked around the small cafe and breathed in the scents of bakery and coffee. It was pleasant and comforting to have something so normal...She even appreciated the soft music and low key feel. Not in your face expensive or fancy but...Homey. "This place is wonderful...Just what I need..." she murmured and looking around for a table to sit at, Smiling, she spotted a two seated table and directed Thana over that way politely. With gentle nudging and leading. Once seated she looked over the menu and then back up at Thana.
"Uhm well, I want to become a boogeyman. And they usually take students in their third years to mentor and give them an idea of the life. I can only really heal but...They said I could be of use then as well." She smiled crookedly.
"Yes, We cannot grow unless we face obstacles." She laced her hands together and thought of where to start. At the beginning was pointless. There was no need to remind him that she had been taken by the hunters, had a tracker implanted in her core that now only moved when she felt anxiety or large amounts of FEAR. It wouldn't be the constant trips of deathly battles against horseman or the loss of her voice. Those had all been overcomed.
They were the past.
"Of more recent events...I've broken up with Roch and My sister died." She smiled regardless of the pain it brought to her chest. Her heart ached for the loss of her dear sister, and it tightened with anxiety that she would face Roch again after their break up. When that day came, she only hoped she would be strong enough to back up her decision. What she did had been the best option for both of them. "One I am sure I will get over, the other...The loss of my sister still is fresh and hurts the most.....All I'll ever has a memory of her now...And her necklace..." And power over her clan, responsibility to her sisters and stuff like that but...she wasn't trying to UNLOAD on Thana. "That's pretty much it now..." She blinked, realizing that she may or may not have little water in her eyes. Okay no crying. No crying. "Um what...what would you like to eat?"

"In general," Thanatos replied, "I have no business with the other houses, and they should have no business with me." In the personal sense, anyway; whether he liked it or not, where family business was concerned, there was always something going on.
"Perhaps I saw the future and knew that this was what you needed long before you realized it for yourself," He said this with so much seriousness that it was probably hard to tell if he was joking or not... Until you realize that he had started to grin, "Or perhaps I like such quaint little places, away from noisy crowds."
After taking a seat, he decided to give Amphi his full attention instead of looking at the menu; she seemed to be talking about something important, after all, and he would hate to appear rude. Besides, it was quite a lot that she had to share; they hadn't met in a few Octobers - which was a long time, but not that long considering how he could still remember their last meeting - so he was surprised to learn that much had changed in her life... Not that he let his surprise show, as per usual; when your family is known for the ability to make accurate predictions, you're not supposed to let your clients realize that you're not as all-knowing as you sell yourself to be.
"I am sure that you have your reasons for that," Referring to her breaking up with Roch, "And I am sorry for your loss." Referring to her sister's death.
"Have you had time to mourn?" He had to take some time to put himself in Biskoto's shoes - if she had any feet to put them on - and thought that such a question would be one of the things his familiar would ask first. Noticing her pained expression, he added, ignoring her question about lunch, "There is no shame in crying over the loss of someone important in your life."

"That's good then." She smiled at him, wiping any remenants of tears away. There was no need to cry and the time was much far past for it. Instead she focused on the other student. "I suppose it must be nice to not have to worry about other houses or clans coming for yours. or you." Not that Amphi had to worry about it...yet.
"Oh...um..." The future thing always tended to make her a little shifty, especially when she was so unsure of it herself. She almost laughed nervously, regardless of the peaceful atmosphere before actually laughing at his other reason. "We'll take door number two then won't we!" She chuckled and closed her eyes, shaking her head. "Whether it was what I needed or what you preferred, I am glad we came here." She closed her eyes for a moment...swaying with the music.
"It wasn't quite the way I wanted to end a friendship and relationship but..." She shook her head before shrugging. "Thank you. It'll be awhile...until I fully recover from a loss but...There is greater responsibilities to handle now..."
She blinked and then smiled at him. "I mourned for a long time...while I was with her and after she passed. It's time to look forward...." She blinked and then shook her head, "I'm sorry but...This is suppose to be such a happy lunch. Tell me about your days! Have you done anything? Anything exciting?"

"If you enjoy such quaint little cafes, I have more to recommend to you the next time we get the opportunity to grab a bite together," Thanatos grinned, pausing briefly as he raised an eyebrow at her comment about responsibility. Although slightly curious, he decided not to pry; if she wanted to talk about it, she'll probably do so without prompting.
"I have no exciting stories to share, I'm afraid," He chuckled, running a hand through his bangs, "The only notable thing I did was to alter my hairstyle, although it took some time for my hair to grow out." Good thing he wasn't someone who went out too often, since the growing process was not exactly aesthetically pleasing.

"Oh...um...another time with each other?" She flushed and twiddled her fingers together. It made her embarrassed to admit that to herself even that she would look forward to another small lunch with Thana. She had really missed him a lot after.
"I noticed...your hair..." She stepped up and reached out to touch it, leaning over the table. Her hand hesitated at running it through and waited for his okay..."Can I touch it?"

"Unless you don't want to see me again?" Thanatos asked with a grin, "Ah, I knew it... You only befriended me for my snake." Heh, snake.
A brief pause.
"And hair," He couldn't resist adding, his grin widening ever so slightly as he sighed loudly, "Snake and hair... That's all I am to you."
