An adult, now was her time, Pace thought to herself. Her time to get her life started. Ever since she could remember she knew she wanted to one day stand as Captain of her own crew. That would take a very long time however, and the first step was getting on another crew. And the only way to be taken seriously as eligible for a raid is to get her own turtle shell. This would be one of those easier said than done journeys she was told from the many lions that had gone on it before her.

When the sun finally showed its face, Pace had been waiting at the mouth of her father's cave and her heart skipped a couple beats before she took her first step in silence. A good Captain always has a heading when leaving port, even if there was no certainty that's where the final destination actually may be. The brown lioness had to ask herself, where would a turtle discard its shell? The ocean would be her first marker, crevices or coves could collect such items.

With certainty and faith in the Goddesses Yemaya and Shinda to get her through this and back home so she could create a better home for herself she stomped her feet into the ground unintentionally. As a younger lass she never really felt comfortable in her own pelt around others besides her father, Pirato, and was never accused of being light footed. The pride was so beautiful, this would only be her third time leaving its borders, first as an adult. Fear wasn't the feeling coursing through her veins, it was excitement and determination. The thought of failure was like an ice injection, it would surely paralyze her if she dwelled on it.

As she came to the ocean she looked out upon the waves she paused, day dreaming momentarily about the creatures that lived in its mystic depths. She shook her head, focus Pace, walk and think. Pace, there was another thing she was looking forward to, her official pirate name. What awesome names would she be dawned with? Brownbeard? Too manly. Brown lightening? Ick! She shook her head sticking her tongue out. Thankfully, it wouldn't be up to her. Hopefully it wouldn't be something girly like Honeysuckle or Polka-dot.

Focus Pace! She repeated again calling her attention back to the task at hand. Now just as she approached the boarders of the pride, her goal was to walk along the beach while being mindful of other animals and keep her eyes pealed. Luckily she was no pansy, a force to be reckoned with, just ask the numerous zebras she had taken down while practicing for raids once she got onto a crew.

Once the sun was hung directly above her, a great loud growl erupted and startled the lioness. She looked around feverishly before she realized that it was coming from her stomach. Luckily again, fishing was this brown beauties speciality! Turning on her heel, Pace looked at the ocean, scanning it for any dangers before she bounded in after what would become her meal. With no immediate dangers in sight, she followed a trail of boulders up and out to sea about two trees long and three lions high and looked down at the wiggling treats. This must be what gods see when they look down at us mortals. As she thought this, a large shark came by and ate half of the fish in her eyesight! In disbelief she continued to watch the now empty patch of water.

Now what? She waited a few more minutes and slowly two then three, then 20 larger fish came to the position beneath her to feed on the rock allege. She would only need two of these to fill her belly! With no further hesitation she dove down with her paws and maw extended and ready to snap shut. Before she could resurface she had swallowed one fish, released another from her left paw and managed to hang onto the one in her right. She couldn't even get back to the shore before she ate the other fish, it was the most delicious she had ever tasted! Laughing she shook herself from loose water droplets and began smoothing out her fur as she digested, with a nearly inaudible purr seeped from her chest. She was actually doing it!

But life would be a lot easier if she was a male, admittedly. How different was she than males? Sure they had more hair and generally more muscle tone, but there were plenty of weakling males and she was far from wimpy. To prove her point, the very next encounter she would have she would try to convince the creature she was a male. Sure it wasn't on the normal shell exploration excursion agenda, but it could prove to be just as fruitful. What she would need was a deeper voice, dirt in her mane and down her fur because boys were dirty. Into the ocean she went, splashing around a little to get the job done right. Now for a name, fierce and menacing yet not a lie, she pondered while looking for a victim for her deceit.

Her thoughts were usually plagued with thoughts of Ana lately. She had felt sadness when she had to tell him goodbye. It had been one of the most depressing, scary things she had ever had to deal with in her life. And true she was young, so life hadn't really been able to show her it's true self. She was still a bit naive in her ways.

Tonight was all about practice. She wasn't looking to reproduce, she was looking to recruit. From what Sister Syrena had said, the pride was looking to expand it's bloodlines. The plague that had befallen them seasons ago, had greatly crippled the numbers. She hadn't been an original mermaid.. No, a Goddess that had helped take care of her by the name of Tari had helped. Her father was a demon-less demon, from what she was told. Mother and father had seen quickly that she was weak, or lacked the demon she needed to keep herself alive. So here she was, a grown up now, with a title all her own.

Lucky for Arrows, Glittyr had found the shell moments earlier. She was examining it in the darkness now, as the sun had long gone down. Glittyr wouldn't be caught dead in the sunshine on the mainland. She preferred to stick to the island in the day time.

The shell was large, and she wasn't sure if it had been a turtle or one of those bigger tortoise things. She didn't really care either, it was just pretty. She sat, curling her tail around her. The bumblebee colored lioness was finding herself not very observant to things around her right now.. Or she may have noticed the approaching pirate.

As the day passed by, Pace thought up various ways to make herself seem more masculine; such as a stick ganging behind her ear, a gruesome war story for why her mane was so short, rubbing fish blood across her nose and down across her arrows and fragmented sentences accompanied by poor manners. She felt like she couldn't go wrong! But her spirits had dimmed a little as her journey stretched out into the evening. This was how a real rouge lioness must feel, this was what freedom was. The thought of not returning to the pride drifted across her mind, followed by an interesting day dream as she continued to wonder along the surf.

It was brought to a sudden stop as her eyes fell upon a yellow ball. Her heart tried to escape through her throat, causing her to literally choke a briefly under the sounds of the ocean (or so she hoped). This was her big chance, don't choke, she teased herself as a good pirate should. She straightened her back and neck and tried to make herself look larger, flexing her naturally toned muscles that she had outlined with her dirt to make look more defined. The closer she got, the more cheesy she believed her opening line was going to be, but her smile showed the opposite; suave and light of tongue.

Still the lioness hadn't noticed her, and since a stationary target was easier to hit than the one running in the opposite direction afraid for their lives she decided to give an announcement before they were too close.
"Ahoy there! Fear thy not of the humble Arrow before ye. He approches a pirate seeking the fortune of an audience from a goddess such as yerself, no foul trickery or vile contempt dwell here, my word."

Glittyr was so far from masculine. She was feminine, dainty, fragile. Or at least, she acted as if she was. She wasn't easily broken, but she certainly was a smaller lioness. She didn't get the size of her mother, nor her father. She had been born the runt, and as such, she had been doomed to live life as a smaller female.

The voice was odd, but Glittyr was used to Pirates. She had met many, and heard stories of even more. Though she wasn't particularly sure she liked them. They way they spoke bothered her, but she thought that was probably because she liked understanding what the other party was saying.

She arched an eyebrow, standing quickly. "You may have to say that again. I'm afraid I understood none of what you just said." She said, but by the time she said it, she was already decoding what it was he had said.

He wasn't particularly her type. His lack of mane, and the bloody dirty look of him was unappealing. But she thought that cleaned up, maybe one of her sisters would appreciate his attentions. If she could convince him to come home with her. Not an easy thing to do, when she wasn't the one that wanted his services.

"Pleasure to meet you, sir Pirate." She said with a bow of her head in respect. Though she had heard you don't give pirates respect, because they are probably stealing from you while you do.

A 'got your goat' smile spread across the lionesses maw, she had just learned several important things about this smaller female before her in a few quick sentences, sealed with a bow. Arrows did steal something from the female from her bow, a slice of victory and a full breath of life. Now she was really going to enjoy this, so long as she didn't mess it up.

Nodding, she replied with her voice masked, "My appologies, I must've hit my head a little harder than I anticipated. I was just on a voyage with my crew, it didn't go so well I'm afraid. We were hit by a pack of wild.. leopards and they destroyed us all but left me to tell of their great victory over mighty pirates. They disgraced me by shaving my mane and.. beat me." She looked away with a grimace of failure, to attempt to look like she was remembering the horrors.

Then she stopped and looked straight into the eyes of the other lioness and whispered as low as she could without losing the mask, "When I saw you, I thought for sure you were a goddess, I was hoping for an audience to keep my mind off of tragedy. A breath of fresh, bright yellow and black air. The pleasure of meeting you see, is all mine." She returned the bow.
