It was a cool, starry night outside Fort Ratatosk. Sitting in the middle of the stone platform was Noble Symphonia's fearless leader, John Rixaen. He yawned as he scribbled away on a piece of paper, its title, "Sparring Rules"

Sparring Rules

So we're going to play a little word game using the dice-rolling system created they use in the battledome

How it works

1.) Reserve your post and roll one one-hundred-sided dice.

2.) If your roll is higher than the post above you, you win. If it's lower than the post above you, you lose. If it's the same, then you tie.

3.) Edit your reserved post and describe how you won, lost, or tied. Then, write something for the next poster to work off of.

Rules

Descriptions should follow the ToS. Nothing unnecessarily violent and none of that "I shall now claim my prize" business. >>;;

No re-rolling if you get a weak roll. You're gonna win some and lose some; it's just the nature of the game.

Try not to reserve a post for more than a few hours.

Do your best to refrain from killing blows. I know in the middle of a fight things happen, but we're here to practice, not blow each other to bits. If you really wanna do that, both people involved should agree to it. Otherwise, Ally and Jeanesis are ready with a bit of healing magic.

The dice are there so that the results are uncontested. If you want to have a more traditional roleplay fight, make a different topic for that.

If I forgot something, we'll add more more rules.

This is an example. Fighting yourself is frowned upon.

To Next Poster (shortened as "TNP):

John reached back and drew his sword, leveling it at his next foe with a confident smile on his face.

"Come on, even though I'm the leader of the clan, you shouldn't be scared to give me your all!" he declared, widening his stance and readying for his opponent's attack.

Fighting yourself is still bad. But after this post, go nuts.

John blinked. There wasn't anyone around, so he'd have to go up against... well, he couldn't go against himself. That would be silly.

Instead, he grinned and walked to where his opponent would be, looking at the space where he was just standing. Spreading his arms and making "magical" movements with his hands, he heightened the pitch of his voice and did his best impression of Ally.

"You're just begging for this, aren't you!?" he demanded as he imitated his little sister. "Well, then I'll give you my best shot! Now... disappear with the thunder! THUNDER CRESCENDO!"

Pointing his sword at the spot he had been standing in, he made his own sound effects, yelling, "ZZZAAAAAPPP!"

Quickly jogging back to be hit by the impending critical finish, John spread his arms and began a most thespian death. Spreading his arms and falling to his knees, he cried out, "Noooooooo!" and fell to the ground.

"I AM SLAIN."

TNP: Sitting up, John smiled and brushed himself off. Boy, he sure could be odd sometimes. Fighting himself as Ally? He stopped a bit and cringed.

Geez, even when he was acting as her, she still thoroughly enjoyed frying him with lightning. Looking around, he wondered if someone else would show up...

Boy oh boy. He did look silly like that. She peered around the doorframe and tipped the edge of her hat back. "A little bored, Fearless Leader?"

She stepped into the room carefully, fingers hooked into the belt that carried the most visible of her several knives. Lately she'd been using a length of steel pipe as it came to hand, and she wanted to practice with it a little more.

"Mind if I?" And as soon as John indicated his readiness, she'd swing at him with all the practiced confidence of a sure baseball player.

Not so good against a sword, anyway-- she still needed practice with it, but she surveyed the dinged up sides of the length of pipe once they were done and made a quiet noise.

"Maybe not for a sword, then."

User Image[Of all the sad words of tongue and pen...]

I stood in the shadow of the Battledome and crossed my arms. I had been off on other business, but John had called me, telling me that I had to help him break in his new fighting ring, and I couldn't very well refuse. I might've thought twice about it if he told me that my first opponent would be a woman, though.

I smoothed out my black coat and shirt; dark colors were better for hiding bloodstains. Taking a moment to stretch, I cracked my knuckles. It had been a while, so I'd have to finish this quickly. I had a schedule to keep, after all.

My dark-skinned, white haired opponent waited unknowingly with a pipe in her hands. This would be simple; a sneak attack take down would finish her in one shot. I rolled up my sleeves and leaped at her from the shadows.

Unfortunately, right at this moment, my opponent whipped around, her pipe catching me right in the face and effectively closelining me. I collapsed on the ground in an embarrassing heap.

We'll say it was because she was a girl, I thought, running through my list of excuses to explain my faux-pas. Couldn't hit a girl, yeah...User Image
