Gaia also has an online text chat both in zOMG and "meebo enabled."

Before we do Skype, we should all "friend" each other so we can connect through Gaia. That's the safest way. (Skype and other "off site" contacts can expose too much personal information to hackers.)

Skype is perfectly safe, zomg people have been using it pretty much since zomg was started, and even some of the gaia staffers are using it too.

As for worrying about hackers, protecting your personal information is up to you, don't share anything you don't want out there on the internet, this goes for gaia and any other online websites, or applications.

Friending other people only goes so far in coordinating people's actions in zomg.
