I have been seeing people talk about buying rings to get past areas and bosses. It is actions like these that come back to bite you in the end. Rings are not the real source of permanent power in zOMG. It will only help you temporarily and only take you so far. This is why I am making this guide to true power in zOMG.

temporary power:

Rings: Rings provide temporary power. Don't get me wrong, rings are powerful but its best when you level them up yourself. I'm not saying this to make you do anything the hard way for no apparent reason. If you would kindly direct your attention you your "player info". You see those stats? They are not effected by what rings you have.

edit: The rings are now soul bound so the "rings" part is not as relevant I guess... but I'll leave it here for two reasons. One, they may undo their decision someday. Two, it shows as a good reminder that ring levels aren't everything.

Power Ups: Battery chargers and ring polishers and whatever else they someday make as a power boost fall into this category. These are made for if you get yourself in over your head while farming or to get past a particularly nasty boss. I'm fairly sure no one is going to try to spend the amount of money you would need to make this anywhere near a "permanent" solution, so I won't even really say much other then this. I never bought any. I don't plan to.

*SPECIAL NOTE* One power up that CAN HELP YOU GAIN PERMANENT POWER is the double orb power up. The more orbs you get the more your permanent charge builds up. Permanent charge is permanent!

permanent power:

Stats: If you go to your "player info" you will see numbers. These numbers are your stats. Other then your current "CL" from your rings, these are perminate. No matter what level ring you buy from the market, they will not go up. You could get a level 100 million ring and they would't budge. These stats tell you what you would be like if you had no rings. They tell you what sort of power you will have no matter what situation you are in. Strength tells you the kind of damage you can do. Accuracy tells you if you could actually hit to do the damage. Speed tells you how fast you can run away from a boss you just pissed off. Dodge tells you weather or not the monsters can hit you. Luck tells you how often drops will occur. Weight will tell you if you get knocked around when an opponent hits you (or if you knock them around).

Over All Charge: This determines your stats. Every time you get an orb, this goes up. One orb is one point in this stat. Simple right? You do NOT get this by buying rings and equipped them. Okay? You want high stats, therefor, you want to collect orbs more then you want to buy high level rings. To see what stats do, see above.

G'hi: This is a little confusing so I can understand if you don't know much about this. As you fight, you get a kind of experience other then the orbs. You see the G'hi meter? That is NOT your G'hi total. That is the percent efficiency at which you are absorbing G'hi. You get this meter up by going to Barton Town and standing there until it's at 100 again. To see your G'hi total at the moment, go to your "player info" and look at the three tabs. One of them say "G'hi". Press it and you can see what G'hi bonuses you have and a blue bar. The blue bar is your G'hi progress. When that fills up, you get a new bonus and the bar starts over. You want to keep your G'hi meter at 100 or at least higher then 50. Why? G'hi bonuses give permanent boosts to your stats. To see why you want good stats, see above. I know it may be a little hard to go to barton all the time to charge up but it is worth it. really. trust me. better stats = awesome.

true power:

Okay, so what is the secrete to true power on gaia? You want to gain permanent power while utilizing temporary power and numbers in key moments.

What do I mean? I mean do not try to shirk around fighting monsters because they are annoying. Fight as much as you can! And do not fight really weak monsters. The tougher the monster, the more likely they are to drop orbs, and also the more experience you could potentially absorb into G'hi.

However, this does not mean that power boosts and good rings don't matter at all, just not as much in the long run. In the short term, they are wonderful. You can go through an area okay, but need a boost for a boss? This is natural and if you have an item to help, use it by all means. Are you fairly powerful but want to switch a ring? You don't want to wait to power it up with 50 orbs just because you wanted to change? Go to the market and if you have the gold for it, thats fine! edit: gaia has made buying rings impossible... soooo, you'll just have to power it up yourself. Don't get discouraged though, the further you are the more orbs you get so it shouldn't take too long to get that low level; ring up some.

And one more thing I would like to mention... it really is better in a crew. With a crew, theres more people fighting more monsters so you have more of a chance to get orbs. Infact there is a built in inherit increase in drops of all kinds in a crew. Your G'hi meter stays higher longer and if you get injured or daze, chances are someone in the crew can help. They are also the best way to take out bosses.

So, this is my advise. You can post what you think or more information and I may add more. I also plan on adding pictures eventually, but, not tonight.
