'Meir's Cherries serves the best in sweets and bread. Ranging from strudels to cupcakes and from wheat to pumpernickel. Xeiro, the owner, by specific request, also makes a mean "special" brownie. Prices are kept rather cheap and the atmosphere is rather nice. They always have music playing and unique indoor/outdoor dining.

ββββπΡΞΉΡΟ ΙaΟ»ΡΡΞΉββββ β Xeiro stepped into the bakery, it had a slightly strange aroma. He couldn't wait to fire up the ovens and get some banana nut bread, in particular, made. He had put up a few fliers telling anyone interested to be there for the late night grand opening, and he had no idea how many would show up. But, he did know that he couldn't be like, hey here's my shop. No food or anything. Thanks for stopping by. That would be awful. He ran his fingers over the counter by the entrance, smooth. He flicked the light on and took in the rest of the store. He could definitely see this place thriving soon.
β Xy walked into the back and smiled, everything that he requested was in its place. All the ingredients he would need to make several batches of cookies and muffins very quickly were placed on the shelves. He threw them together with lightning speed and placed them in the oven. He set the timer and continued walking around the store to make sure everything was in tip-top shape. He smiled, "everything looks great." He said to himself very pleased and walked back to the front of the store. He straightened the shelf of candy next to the counter and then stepped passed the counter. He hopped up onto it and tapped his fingers on the hard surface. Where in the ******** was his dumbass sister?

β« Getting Beatrice to fall asleep was harder than Mitsuke had planned for it to be. She giggled as she kicked the door open and stepped in. She knew Xeiro was bound to be pissed, for two reasons, but he would have to get over it. The first obviously being, that she was drunk at his "grand" opening, the second, that she was late to his "grand" opening. She couldn't stop herself from chuckling when she saw him sitting on the counter all alone in there. "Hey, bro." She smiled at him and pulled her flask out of her jacket pocket for another swig. Honestly, she was a little pissed at him. Why did he have to pick a Saturday night to open it? She could be out exploring the bars and other hangouts, but nooo she had to be here with him. She knew deep down he felt the same way, but for some reason he had this whole must be productive thing going for him.
β«All Sukey wanted to do was go have fun and meet some people. Maybe the bakery would turn to be a good way to meet people? She looked around it, 'eh... needs a lot of work.' She sniffed the air and walked back behind the counter. "Whatcha cooking?"

ββββπΡΞΉΡΟ ΙaΟ»ΡΡΞΉββββ β The timer went off and Xeiro hopped off the counter and grabbed a mitten to pull the muffins and cookies out. "A few sweets for anyone who shows up for opening night." He said with a smile, then looked up into her eyes. "Seriously? Tonight?" He rolled his eyes and slammed the pans onto the counter. She always had to make herself the center of attention, whether it be making an idiot out of herself or not.
β Xeiro picked up the cloth lined baskets and placed the muffins in them, separating them by type. He then put the cookies on a platter. "Look appealing? Go ahead and try something if you want." He said to her with a slight grumble, not being able to look her in the eye without groaning. He glanced up to the clock, feeling that this was going to be another failed event, brought to you by yours truly.

Walking from his little RV on the edge of town to work, Kade had spotted the same old building that his once favorite bakery used to be. He had expected to do the same routine he had done every time he took this route β pause, sigh, shake his head, and then go to the salon to eat some factory made cupcakes he stored there for bad, icky days. But, today was different! The bakery was actually.. it wasn't broken down or deserted β sure, kind of empty, but it had people in it! His eyes bugged out in surprise and he ventured to investigate, letting out a shrill squeal when he saw that his eyes didn't deceive him! He was actually looking at the bakery! He bet they had sweets and β oh. Oh, please have tarts! Cherry tarts!
He started inside giddily, when he had a simple thought. He would probably end up being late to work again if he went inside.. But, then, did anyone have appointments at the salon today..? Of course not! Kade should know, after all. Did he want poor little Fleurette to be all alone at the salon with nothing to do? No! Which was why he took out his cell phone and dialed her as he headed through the doors. He stood in the middle of the bakery, hand on hip, and studied the interior. Different from the last place! He liked it! He gave up on the girl answering β she was probably playing with his stuffed toys again β and left her a quick text message. 'OMG GET 2 THE BAKERY ASAP. :'D' Message sent, he put his cell back in his pocket and went to the counter. βHiii, hello, hello, hello~!! I'm Kade β is anyone here?β He called out towards the kitchen area. He knew the answer to that one! He could smell fresh pastries already, after all~!

Fleurette sadly put down a pig stuffed animal as she got a text on her phone from Kade. She pouted. Kade was always off doing whatever, and she was here, working! If you call messing around in the salon work, because they didn't get any customers anyways. Which was sad, because Fleurette didn't have anyone to experiment on! Pressing the red button, she placed the pig back where she found it, she didn't want Kade finding out she got ahold of the one on top of the shelf. >D
"Kaaaaade!!" Fleurette burst into the bakery and tried to tackle Kade but kinda failed. He had a very strong standing position. "WHOA! This place is open again? By different people? Where did the old ones go, anyway?" She stood next to Kade, a finger on her chin in thought. "Yay~! I can buy cake again!" She smiled widely and went off in thought of all the amazing cake she would've been eating if the old bakery didn't close.

β Not only one person, but two? Xeiro hoped his face didn't look as stupid as he felt inside with the excitement from both of them. He smiled and walked over to the edge of the counter pointing with his head towards the back, motioning Sukey to go get the rest of the treats out. "Hello, Kade, and ermm... Kade's friend." He chuckled and ran his left hand through his hair. "I'm Xeiro Rameri, new owner of this fine establishment. I take it you were fans of the old bakery?" He leaned his back into the counter and crossed his arms, noting the girl speaking of "the old ones". "Yeah, she's all mine now." He chuckled and grabbed the chocolate chip muffin basket and offered it to them. "I've got chocolate chip muffins and cookies, snickerdoodles, banana nut muffins, and my sister--- well, my waitress, is getting the tarts and danishes out of the oven." He smiled once more and sat the basket back down. "Everything's free tonight by the way, just wanted to get acquainted with some of the faces I'll be seeing, and get some input. Little stuff, such as decorating and certain foods." He flipped his hair again and then grabbed a banana nut muffin for himself, something he had long been craving. ______________________________ β« Sukey walked out from the back room carrying a tray covered in danishes and tarts of different sorts. "Yay, your first people." She smiled, giving them both a wink as she sat the tray on the counter. "I'm Mitsuke Rameri, the waitress." She smiled brightly with the first part, but rolled her eyes with the latter. She was far too giggly, and she knew it was upsetting Xy, but she was far past caring. She didn't have to make him feel good about himself anymore. Someone had actually shown up. She slipped her hand into her pocket and pulled out her flask, taking another large swig. She cringed slightly with that one and shook her head.

Kade smiled brightly at Fleurette when the girl came to join him. He loved hanging around with her β especially since their hair colors matched so well! ..Though, that would soon change, he thought sadly, but cheered up as he remembered that that would be for Kim! He totally missed Fleurette's attempt to tackle him as he thought on that future fashion change, his attention then moving to Xeiro! Oh, well, hello~! Another cute guy joining the town's ranks! But, no touching, Kade, you already have a stud for you! Even if this one came baring muffins! The man happily took a muffin when it was offered, not being one to turn down a sweet treat, and held back an excited squeal when he felt that it was still warm! Most of the stuff he ate nowadays were cold β tasty, but cold! And the microwave made things not taste nearly as yummy as they could be. He munched on a bite of the pastry, listening to Xeiro while he finished that task. It was a good thing it was all free, too! Because Kade couldn't help himself when he saw the tray of fresher treats be put out by Mitsuke. Oh, tarts! He loved tarts!
βI love tarts! I'm so happy I ditched work today~! Aren't you, Fleurette?β He asked as he went to selecting the perfect tart from the tray, his smile growing. This was the happiest day he's had in a long while! Most of them turned out either sour or.. well, drunk, which was even more depressing when the alcohol wore off. βThis is Fleurette, my best friend!β He introduced her once he found the best tart! Because it was cherry and everything cherry was the best! The chocolate-chip muffin was forgotten in his other hand as he used his right to take the tart, chewing on it with the same joy he had from eating that muffin earlier, except times a thousand! He did love tarts, especially the cherry ones!
βYou two just moved here..? Are you, like, brother and sister or something? That's so cute! I wish my sister or brother would open a family business with me, but I don't know what a trucker and hairdresser could open up together.. Maybe a traveling salon? I dunno how popular that would be, but, oh, my god, that's brilliant! Fleurette, we could open up a traveling salon β oh. But.. I can't leave my honeybunny! Shoot!β He ended his little ramble with a small curse, going back to eating his tart.

"Yesss! I'm Fleurette, nice to meet ya!" The girl smiled widely, showing off her white teeth. Ooh! Muffins. There goes her attempt at conversation for the next few seconds, as her attention was now on the large, warm blueberry muffin. She began ripping chunks off of the muffin now, putting them in her mouth and savoring the taste for a few seconds, only to repeat the process again. Man, having them straight from the oven was SO much better than just buying them already cooled down and such. She wanted to try making them one day, but she would probably burn her entire house down within seconds of her thinking about turning on the oven. That's how bad she was at cooking and how bad the universe didn't want her to cook. Which was a lot.
Fleurette licked her lips cutely while she finished off that bite of the muffin. "Of course! Baked goods are better than a lot of things, including work! Even if work is fun, like at the salon!" She had to admit it was kinda fun just messing around the shop instead of actually doing work. But hey, if no one showed up, she didn't have any work to do! "OHMYGOSH KADE. That idea is wonderful! We should totally do that!" Her sudden bright smile was dimmed by Kade's realization that he couldn't leave. "Aww. And you really got my hopes up too. But you're right, love is more important!" She smiled again, starting to pick at the blueberry muffin once again. "I KNOW he'd want you to stay too." Because that's how all relationships were supposed to work, right?

ββββπΡΞΉΡΟ ΙaΟ»ΡΡΞΉββββ β Xeiro smiled at the two devouring the treats in front of him. It truly made him happy inside to know his cooking was bringing joy again, it kind of made him miss home. He kept a smile on his face, ignoring any other feelings he had, as usual. Xeiro was made to be the strong one, but with a nine year old and an alcoholic, who else would take the job? He ran his fingers through his hair again, kind of his thing. "We did just move here, and we are brother and sister." He chuckled, thinking to himself that Kade sure had a lot of energy. "Well, the shops mine. I gave Sukey a job to try and keep her out of trouble. But, as you can see..." He motioned to the dead space next to him. Where his sister had been before she abruptly left.
β He shook his head at the absence of his sister and then smiled at Fleurette. "You too, Fleurette." He smiled and grabbed himself a tart off of the tray. "Haha, traveling salon." He chuckled again and slumped against the counter stretching his long legs out. "I love your energy! Are the rest of the people around the island great, too? I haven't been able to get out much."

~Gail Boyer~ ______________________________________________________ _________________________________________________________________________ ______________________________________________________ ~~Gail fumbled in the backdoor about five minutes late, looking a bit haggard, and off. Molly had decided that she wanted to have pancakes for breakfast, and nothing else and wouldn't stop screaming until she got them. By some miracle Zach actually made the pancakes, but the whole cooling down the situation thing kind of killed her timing and caused her to be late. She hoped that no one would make a big deal of her lateness, but she would explain if need be. The rest of the staff, including the owner, was up in the front, meeting and greeting the customers that had already come, so she would just check to see what all needs to be baked right away. ~~She threw on an apron and scurried up to the front of the shop to wait for instruction, pulling back her long brown hair in the process to make sure it will fit in the hairnet she'd be wearing later.

A figure hardly anyone on the island had seen was aimlessly walking down the street. Her brown eyes were surveying the area while her black and white chucks steered which direction she walked in. Nadia stopped wandering with her eyes as her nose began to take control. Something smelt delicious! With a growling stomach, she started towards the newly opened bakery. She wondered if they were open, but one peek inside told her they most likely were. Being from the city, Nadia gave a wave from where she stood back from the counter while the two already chowing down were being helped (Nadia knew to wait her turn). She really wasn't one for ease dropping, but when the energectic girl in front of her mentioned the name 'Kade' she couldn't help but continue to listen while trying to look over all the baked goods. The young woman was hoping that Kade was the owner of the salon and she felt her suspicions confirmed when they started mentioning the salon itself! Eventually Nadia was drawn to the counter as she watched the steam come off the loafs of bread and tarts. She was surprised to hear the baker's story that she forgot that she wasn't really included in their conversation... yet.
"I'm new here too!" Nadia stated with a bit of excitement as she turned towards the three who were having a conversation. She smiled rather brightly at the fact that she had even one thing in common with them. "I"ve been cooped up at home trying to get settled in. I haven't had much to eat, so this is my first venture out from home," the woman in the pin striped pants explained, completely forgetting that she had initially wanted to start a conversation with Kade about the salon. Nadia was just a friendly girl who wouldn't pass up meeting a new friend. "Oh, My name's Nadia Bayette. I'm sure I'll be a regular here at the bakery and definitely your salon." Nadia asked as she offered to shake hands with anyone willing to accept.

Mariella cautiously walked into the door of the bakery, knowing that she was late. All the other workers seemed to be there except for her and there were already three customers. Hopefully no body minded too much. It was never the best idea to be late on your first day of the job.

ββββπΡΞΉΡΟ ΙaΟ»ΡΡΞΉββββ β Xeiro glanced around the ever growing room, and looked sternly at the two workers. "I know that one of you is Gail, and the other Mariella. Which is which I do not know nor do I care to know, what I do know is that you are both very late. That does not make a good impression ladies..." He glared sternly into both of their eyes before turning back to the customers. He erupted in laughter, holding his stomach as he doubled over. "Oh ladies, don't fret. I could smell your worry before you even walked in. We'll have an employee meeting in a bit to talk about everything. But, for now just get comfortable and relax. I've prepared everything for the day so just chill, feel free to experiment in the kitchen if you wish." He smiled and crossed his arms, still chuckling from the looks on their faces.
β He glanced to Nadia, "Welcome Nadia, I do hope to see you a lot. Is the island treating you well thus far?" He smiled at Kade and Fleurette, he didn't see himself going to the salon all too often except maybe the occasional trim. "Help yourself ladies." He motioned the three new arrivals to the goods placed out on the counters.

Nadia gave a quick wave to the other workers in the room as the boss addressed them. She felt a little awkward as he spoke so sternly with them, but gave a sigh of relief when everyone realized that they weren't in trouble. When the baker inquired about the treatment the island was giving her so far, she couldn't help but let her spirit damper just a little. Her very first encounter wasn't... choice. "Well..." Nadia began as her eyes drifted over to the side. She wasn't one to spread bad reputations or talk illy of someone when they weren't around. Granted, if the journalist walked into the room at this very moment, Nadia wouldn't hesitate one bit to spill the beans and point out the fact that he was crazy. That wasn't the case though, so Nadia just put on a smile. "I would steer clear of the newsroom if at all possible. Haha..." the young woman suggested just before she rose her finger and pointed at something she'd love to take home. "May I have a loaf of the Banana Walnut bread?" she asked quickly, not really wanting to explain what had happened at the government offices, but as she thought about it a little more she remembered the blond that had helped her out. "And maybe a tart to-go?" Nadia requested as her smiled brightened. Hopefully, the blond reporter enjoyed sweets and would accept Nadia's thanks.
