Kabichi had felt heavy since her fight with Sairin, but at first, she only thought it fatigue. Now, she was sure it was something else. Weeks on end she'd felt something pawing inside, and she'd had no guidance to know it was pregnancy.
Not until labor pains began. Slowly, the lioness had withdrawn into her den, what she had thought just fat now proving to be new life. She couldn't get angry--it took two to tango. She just hoped Bodaway or Zimwi or even Danzi or Mut didn't kill Shin. Tiredly, the lioness lay in her den for several hours, before the first cub began to emerge....

Shin looked around, wondering just where Kabichi had vanished to. He was worried about her, and hoped she was alright. He hadn't missed the rounding of her belly, and had asked Mut about it... Mut told him it was cubs. But how...? He had no idea just how things worked, being an inexperienced male. Tail curled, he soon found the den. "Kabichi...?"
Lilac and white limbs flailed a bit as the snowy-colored cub squeeled. It was cold, it was uncomfortable, and he HATED it! Why did the world have to BE like this?! Why couldn't he have stayed in the nice warm place he'd been?! Little lilac ears remained down, for the moment shutting the world out.

Kabichi began to rumble, sighting her first-born as she moved, licking to groom him softly, with reassuring strokes as she hummed. Hearing Shin, she peered up.
"Shin? Come see..."
She smiled, grooming the tiny male further.

The ruby-eyed dark male blinked, moving into the den. His dark nose twitched as he looked, spotting the cub. "Oh... Kabichi... It's..." He couldn't think of a good word, really, but... It took his breath away to see the ivory and lilac cub.
Squeels tore from the cub's mouth as he was groomed, clearly not seeming to like it. Oh, he'd be trouble... When he was clean, though, he found the world to be a bit more pleasant. It wasn't quite so cold anymore, but he still didn't like it... Not yet, anyway.

Kabichi smiled, then grimaced as labor kicked up again, and yet another cub soon made it's way into the world.
Black pelt glistened before a rough tounge greeted the squealing cub, who blinked, quieting quickly. He was agreeable, but squirmed. He was still cold.

Shin couldn't help but watch in wonder - And with a twist of his stoumach - at the birth of another cub. Its pelt was as black as his was... It almost made his heart sink, for he felt like a dark pelt was an omen of sorts. But it was graced with blue, compliments of their mother. "Aw, look at the little wings..." Maybe the cub could use them to soar above its troubles, metaphorically speaking.
Quite suddenly, he wasn't the center of attention. The pale cub squeeled, trying to draw attention to himself. He would NOT be ignored so easily!

Kabichi smiled tiredly at Shin, grooming both cubs a moment before nosing the dark-pelted cub to his brother.
"And the older has daddy's nose."

The dark male purred, then found a way to curl around Kabichi, shiedling her and the cubs. "They're perfect..." He nuzzled at her, ears perked. "Like you."

Kabichi blushed, nuzzling back at her mate warmly as she groomed both cubs and his face, and an ear flicked.
"Do you think Bodaway would like them?"
She hoped her adopted father would.
