And then Jake somehow found time to go on a magical journey for more magical armor pieces because this was a magical world. Well, he needed the break anyways, and what better break than to go on a nonsensical errand to retrieve non-plebian body guards, because that was totally what one did with one's free time in this era.
Besides, he was sure the other knight apprentices had the job handled. What was one missing body or two... figuratively? Though this was what he thought, the guilt would eventually start sinking in soon and eat away at him... figuratively. Even if he were just one person, every effort counted, and he knew this too. But... just... everything was so confusing. He didn't want to deal with it, yet that was a coward's retreat. What was going to happen to them all? He had so many questions, so many doubts, and... who could even answer them all. That moment when the rift in the sky triggered some sort of memory made Jake shudder. What WAS that memory? And... why couldn't he remember it anymore? It was clearly something important, something... he had given up. Perhaps it was his attempt at running away from something he didn't want to face anymore. Perhaps it was much too traumatizing. Perhaps... he was thinking much too hard about this, and should divert his attention to something else... like... retrieving mythical armor? Part of him wondered where the great king even GOT this stuff.
Still, the greater tabard of the dragon sounded kinda neat, and so off on his journey he went.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 33 YOUR HP: 30/30

[ Step 1 - The Trek Forward ]
Mounting his trusty steed, Jake left Camelot, bag of food in hand (or horse, to be more accurate), and kept an eye peeled for danger. Unfortunately, the kind of danger he was looking for was not one that'd be seen by the naked eye. At least, not until much later...
MUCH much later...Quote: Rolling a 4: You catch some medieval version of dysentry and feel extremely sick. You need to be sent home IMMEDIATELY (QUEST FAIL for that person, they will have to retry again either single or with another group). QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 33 YOUR HP: 30/30

Jake regretted many things. ALL the things. Perhaps this journey should be postponed for another time... But Jake was not a quitter. He was going to see this through, dysentery or not.QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 25 YOUR HP: 30/30

[ Step 1 - The Trek Forward ]
Jake regretted many things. ALL the things. Perhaps this journey should be postponed for another time... But Jake was not a quitter. He was going to see this through, dysentery or not. Luckily, there were no feelings of illness this time, but instead, Jake ran into a bee nest. Chester wanted none of this and left. You're on your own, Jake.Quote: Rolling a 3: You accidentally ride into a bees nest. BEEEEES. Your horse runs away, making it extremely hard on you. Every turn you take, you must subtract 5 food from the caravan, starting next turn. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 25 YOUR HP: 30/30

[ Step 2 - The Winding Forest ]
Bees or not, horse or not, Jake was going to see this through. What were a few bee stings? This was NOTHING. He was going to get that mythical tabard one way or another. But first he was going to take a break and eat some- OH GOD WHERE WERE THESE SPIDERS EVEN COMING FROM?! A perfectly good piece of cheese went flying.Quote: Rolling a 1: A giant spider scares you so much you drop whatever it is you're eating! -5 Food QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 15 YOUR HP: 30/30

[ Step 3 - The Dwarven Mountain ]
That was... just a minor setback. So what, he had a little less food now. That only made things easier. Less stuff to carry. He didn't need food to survive... long. Besides, starvation was the least of his problem at the moment after triggering one of the mountain's numerous booby traps. Ow.
Quote: Rolling a 3: You accidentally step on a booby trap as snakes start chasing you! Why did it have to be snakes... -10 damage QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 10 YOUR HP: 20/30

[ Step 4 - The Mountain Summit ]
It was a little hard without his horse, a wounded foot, and little energy, but somehow Jake made it to the top of the summit relatively intact. Mostly intact at least, until giant eagles attacked again. He wasn't sure if it was because of the gauntlets, or because eagles (maybe birds in general) just really hated him.
Still, he got what he came for and he could now make his painfully slow trek back to Camelot, hoorayyyyyyyy............Quote: Rolling a 1: Giant unexplainable eagles start attacking you! Ow! You take -10 damage for yourself. QUEST STATUS Food remaining: 5 YOUR HP: 10/30
