"Caves are such a fun place to start." Ciro stated. "I've found a lot of abandoned pelts, sometimes small jewelry to take back to the War Lord. You never know what was left behind, or who had used or still uses this cave for things." The Captain stated, sniffing the entrance. The air smelled stale inside. It was unlikely there were any sort of creatures living in it.
"I mean, you wanted to do something exciting. Well, here you go." Ciro stated with a small eye roll. They hadn't come across anyone to pillage on their travels. The dark lion was okay with a slow viking, but being the first for his brother, he understood the need to spice it up.
"After you," The lion motioned. "Or...are you too scared?" Ciro smirked, waiting for the other's response. |

The fiery lion bristled, shooting a sharp glare at his brother. He was NOT afraid of a stupid cave! Hmph!
"Only if you are."
Huff, maybe it was Ciro who was afraid, making Lucifer go first. Well, he'd show him he wasn't afraid! His eyes narrowed, Lucifer strode with purpose toward the cave entrance, hesitating only for the briefest moment before stepping inside.
"You coming?"
He looked back to make sure his brother would follow before moving several strides into the darkness. Somehow the cave did not seem any less creepy now that he was inside. His eyes strained against the dark, barely spotting the stalagmite he nearly walked into before it was too late.
It was a large cave, more than wide enough for two viking lions to walk through comfortably. The ceiling and floor were lined with multiple rock formations. The air was stale, but not completely stagnant, there was most certainly an exist further on, the sound of wind and water dripping echoing faintly off the walls. Or maybe it wasn't the sound of wind...

Lucifer had moved away from his brother, daring to venture further as his eyes adjusted to the dark (though he made sure the other remained in sight). Maybe it was a cave like any other, it certainly looked that way. Then why did he feel his fur stand on end? He was not as convinced as Ciro was that they were alone in this cave.
"Do you think there are bats?"
Bats lived in caves, right? That must be it, there were bats in the cave, that would explain the sounds he heard, right? The movement of wings could cause that sound. His tail twitched nervously, his pace hastened to return to the side of his brother. Creepy cave was creepy! (NO HE WAS NOT SCARED!)
"Yeah, maybe."
He ventured forward, ears flicking, following the sound of a soft splash. There must be a pool nearby.
"Do you hear that?"

He shrugged at the question about bats. "There might be. It's dark enough for them." There was a sudden gush of wind, causing the male to pause. "Bats don't normally attack, so, if there are..." He's voice drifted. The strange noises coming from inside the cave were just a bit unsettling, even for a seasoned Captain such as Ciro.
Ciro's ear flickered towards the splash. "Yeah." He sighed, shaking his head. Come on Ciro, it is just a cave. Why did Lucifer have to seem so jumpy!
"That was probably just one of those rock formations dropping into a pool. Happens all the time." The male shrugged, stating it more for himself. "Come on, there's gotta be something interesting in here." And certainly there was. Just a head, something seemed to shine amidst the gray stone. Intrigued, Ciro headed towards it, ignoring the ambiguous sounds as he headed deeper into the cave. |

I'm not jumpy, you're jumpy!
Lucifer was finding it harder and harder to dismiss the odd sounds he heard in the cave. Bat wings and wind most certainly did not sound like that. It almost sounded like....whispers? But distant and faint, indistinguishable, seeming to come from one place and then another. Where was that coming from?
He shook his head, just his mind playing tricks on him, but he still found himself looking over his shoulder. Wait, where was Ciro? Lucifer looked around in a brief moment of panic that quickly subsided when he caught sight of his brother again. Had he seened something?
"Wha--"
The question he had been about to ask was lost before he'd had the chance to ask it. Something had moved in front of him, causing the fiery lion to take a quick step back. OH god what was that?! HEART ATTACK!
Breath Lucifer, breath, it was just a pool of water. You had probably just seen the ripples caused by a salamander or something. His eyes scanned the surface, watching for movement again beneath the dark water. Wait, was water supposed to look like that?
"Uh...bro?"

The sound of his breathing was evident in the den. It echoed off the wall. "What is your problem?" The lion groaned, getting agitated.
He left the cluster of shiny black rocks before him, turning towards Lucifer to glare. "What?!" He growled, spotting the dark colored water, and the small ripples through it.
"It is water Lucifer. W-a-t-e-r." He stepped up to the pool, splashing it towards the fire male. In doing so, the large black snake coiled, lifting its body to stare right into Ciro's eyes. It hissed, displaying its large fangs. Not expecting to see the creature, Ciro had jumped back, glaring. "Oh what the hell?" He growled, tail twitching behind him. This snake wanted to play games, did it? He had heard snake meat was pretty good, but had never tried it himself.
He could skin it, maybe it would make some sort of unique piece for his den on his wall or something.
Claws unsheathed as Ciro lowered his head. "Careful of those teeth."

Lucifer glared at his brother! He had seen something, he knew he had! Water was not supposed to look like that! Stop treating me like a--HOLY ******** s**t THAT WAS A BIG SNAKE! Hah, he knew he wasn't imagining things! Somehow being right was not very satisfying at that moment...
"I told you!"
Creepy a** cave, he knew there was something here here! But nooo, Lucifer is just being a scaredy cat, it's just water! That mocking tone in his head would have sounded a lot better if it weren't for the GIANT SNAKE! Oh Lucifer would have been smirking so hard at Ciro right now if he weren't scared shitless himself.
Oh s**t! It was not only a giant snake, it was a pissed giant snake!
"I know that!"
Lucifer yelled at his brother louder than he had intended. He knew to watch out for its teeth, the trouble was the snake knew that too. This was nuts!
What if the snake was poisonous?!
The snake hissed, coiling its long body before lashing out with its fangs. OH s**t! Lucifer moved on instinct, lunging sideways, away from the snake's bite. What now? Maybe he could hit it with a rock, or circle behind while Ciro kept it occupied and--
"Ciro!"
Oh s**t...Ciro had not been so lucking in avoiding the snakes fangs it seemed. He really hoped that snake had not been venomous!

Ciro watched as his brother tried to distract the snake. However, it didn't seem to work. The snake lunged, missing the fire marked male. When it retaliated, Ciro found he was not as lucky, as the black creature striked front left paw.
He roared loudly in pain, his uninjured limb slamming on the snake's head. "Damnit." He growled, letting the creature twitch under his paw before it finally stopped moving. Ciro tried placing his paw on the ground, however he found doing so sent a jolt of pain up it. "Damnit." he repeated, snarling. He released the now dead snake, his paw swiping the ground to fling it against the wall.
There was some loud screeching filling the cave. "Oh now what?" Ciro growled, eyes turning to see a wall of shadow looming them.
Between Lucifer's shout, and Ciro's roar, they had awoken something within the cave.
Beady red eyes were glaring at them as they flew straight for them.
Bats. Forget those damn rocks. Forget the damn snake, and this cave. Everything seemed to be going against him right now. The Captain covered his head as the bats flew overhead, before following them towards the entrance of the cave. Time to go. No more cave-raiding for the day! He hobbled quickly towards the entrance, refusing to put weight on his injured paw. Lucifer could choose to stay in the den, or follow him. Ciro was out of here though.

Lucifer watched his brother for a moment, his breathing deep as the remnants of adrenaline rushed through him. Was it over? Was the snake dead? It seemed to be, but Lucifer was NOT going anywhere near it to answer that question!
"Are you o--"
His words fell short, his ears falling, his tail suddenly very low as a look of horror crossed his face. What was that? ARRGGG BATS! Nope, ******** that s**t! Lucifer was gone! He knew he should have never set foot in that creepy cave! Weird noises, snakes, and now BATS! He was getting out of here now and never setting foot in a cave ever again!
ARRGG! A bat was touching him, it was in his mane! A horrified roar, Lucifer charged for the entrance, shaking is head and thrashing to shake the bat away. OMG GET OFF ME! Daylight, omg blessed daylight, he was almost out.
Worst.cave.ever!

What was it, every viking mission Ciro would go on gets him injured? Last time it was taking the adolescents out. This time, with Lucifer! He couldn't win.
This stupid famine on the land was killing his missions, just like it was tearing his pride up.
Once outside. Ciro panted, staring at the injury on his leg. Two puncture marks were present. The wound was bleeding, and there was a pulsing sensation. "Damnit that hurt." He growled, his tongue licking at the wound. He blamed Lucifer. If he would have just ignored the pool of water, the snake would have done its own thing, and they would be off on their way with some small treasure in tow.
Now he was sure this would put him behind. Again.
Ciro huffed, staring at Lucifer before limping off from him. |

Lucifer had almost flopped down on the outside ground, his breath heavy as he stood on shaky paws, relieved to be back in the daylight and free of the bat that had tried to make a nest in his mane. Let's NEVER do that again, EVER.
Catching his breath, the fiery lion looked to his brother. He might have shot a smirk at the older lion, but something caused him to stop short. Oh, in all the excitement he had almost forgotten. A wince as he watched Ciro limp, that looked like it hurt.
"Are you okay?"
A few quick strides, Lucifer was at his side, his gaze drifting to the two punctures. They may not have had the best relationship, but Ciro was his brother, his only tie to a history he had known nothing about. He did not wish to lose him so soon after he had found him.
