Iolle stumbled a bit as he set foot on Gaian soil - or cement. Close enough. He stayed bent over just a bit, waiting for the sudden wave of dizziness to leave him. Where had that come from anyway? He reached out to steady himself. It seemed like there should be someone nearby to lean on... He managed to quell the sudden urge to gasp and jerk away when a hand met his. He hadn't been expecting that.

"He doesn't look very well..." murmured a female voice. Not the person who'd reached for him - that person was much closer than the speaker. He vaguely heard someone else speak, but his head was spinning again, and he couldn't quite make out what was said. The person holding his hand moved closer and gripped his shoulder instead, steadying him a bit.

"You don't look too good, kid..." This voice was decidedly male and seemed to belong to the person supporting him. Iolle shook his head a bit to clear it further, tilting his head down a bit.

"I don't feel good," he said weakly in agreement. Maybe he just needed to sit and rest a bit. His knees seemed to agree with him and quite eagerly chose that moment to buckle beneath him. ..damn. He was quite sure that floor was going to hurt. He clenched his eyes shut, regardless of the fact that he couldn't see.

There were a few sharp yells, and he could feel someone catching him. He might've thanked them, but he wasn't sure the way everyone was suddenly huddled around him talking in quick, worried tones. "I think he just needs some rest, Mom," said the male voice.

Iolle wasn't sure exactly what happened after that. His body had come to the decision that rest was the best option at the moment and sent him into a brief slumber. He woke up a short time later, vaguely aware that they were in a vehicle of some sort. He turned his head a bit, trying to get a feel for where they were going. Someone in the seat in front of him shifted a bit.

"Mom, he's awake."

"Is he?" More shifting from the front seats. "Iolle, try not to move too much. You're probably just a bit off from coming through the gate. Try to get some more rest, okay?"

Iolle frowned a bit and leaned back in his seat. This must be his host family then. The female must be...Jiora, wasn't it? And the male...perhaps Jiora's son? There'd been a mention of the boy earlier, but he couldn't quite remember the name now. It wasn't that important right now anyway.. Miss Jiora was right. He should try to rest..

Iolle pushed himself up from the couch on shaky arms. He'd snuck out of bed in order to listen to a TV show - something called CSI or something like that. It had been rather interesting, really. Some girl had been killed, and then there was a lot of talk of collecting evidence and interviewing suspects - and then something about prostitutes and rings... He hadn't quite understood what had been going on then, but someone had been killed because of it..

Of course...he wasn't quite sure how it had ended. He'd fallen asleep before it got that far. Now there was some boring man speaking in a droll voice about the weather. He'd have to try and stay awake longer next time...

"Runt?"

Rather than blinking, Iolle's fingers twitched. He turned his head toward the source of the voice, frowning a bit at the older boy he knew was standing there. A single brow arched quizzically, getting his question across quite clearly considering no words were actually spoken.

Cyrus huffed and rolled his eyes. "Don't give me that look. You know you aren't supposed to be up this late. You still aren't better from your trip." He leaned down and reached for the boy, his ears pinning back when the child drew back.

Not that doing so helped Iolle much though. A rush of dizziness overtook him with the sudden motion, and he performed an odd flopping maneuver on the couch as he lost his balance. Ugh. That had felt less than pleasant. Maybe he really did want to rest after all. And it had nothing to do with him not feeling well. Nothing at all.

He only grumbled a little as Cyrus clumsily picked him up, though, to the older boy's credit, he did apologize for all the jostling and shifting around. He didn't seem too apologetic when he dropped the blind child into bed rather unceremoniously though. "Now stay in bed. An' be glad my mom wasn't the one who caught you up."

Iolle scowled wearily to himself as the covers were drawn up and the light flicked off. For a moment he was sure Cyrus was hesitating for some reason, but the familiar click of the door being shut ruled that thought out. He sighed and scowled into the darkness - at least, he assumed it was dark now. For a moment he wondered what the dark really looked like, though he dismissed the thought quickly enough. He didn't need to see. He got around just fine with his abilities. He was barely on the charts, was what he'd heard. Seeing would just be an added luxury.

He could do without luxuries.

A sudden, but familiar, sneeze jolted Cyrus out of his light doze. He threw an irritated glance toward the hall, ears swiveling toward the source of the sound. "That you, kid?"

There was a prolonged silence as a pale hand peeked around the corner, gripping it for support as an equally pale boy maneuvered around it, wiping at his nose in agitation. "No, it's your mum," grumbled Iolle. His eyes darted about the room a moment, almost as though he were actually looking for something. Cyrus had grown used to the odd act, he supposed, but that didn't make it any less creepy. "Where'd the tissues go?"

"You've used them all already."

Another long silence filled the room. And was promptly broken by another violent sneeze.

Iolle turned a dark scowl on Cyrus - how did the kid always know exactly where he was?! - and wiped at his nose. "So go buy me some new ones."

The teen blinked dumbly for a moment. "Me? Why do I ha-"

"Because you're the only one around, genius!" snapped the already grumpy child. He sniffled in vain and wiped his nose again, trudging back into the depths of the manor once more.

Jiora
Iolle made his way slowly through the crowds, moving at a slow, nervous pace. There were just so many people around. At least it was easier to keep track of where Jaclyn was. The woman seemed to constantly project warmth and friendliness, even if she couldn't hear a thing he projected at her. Now if he could just find some Neilani... ...if there even were any around here.

Lael Kiren
Lael's smile widens a tiny bit, making him look like a smug cat. "And that's his excuse for doing such in public, not that I'm complaining mind."

Lillian Haladet
"Indeed," Lillian answers, smiling faintly. "I've never seen one of these formal affairs here on Gaia before, so it's quite the experience."

DivineSaturn
Without so much as a "hello" to the newcomers, Melete gathers her dress and rushes off, or tries to. Her mentally muddled condition leads to the overwhelmed girl crashing into someone unfamiliar, making her even more flustered.

"Excuse me," she murmurs, eyes lowered.

Vilden
"On Kiren's birthday, everyone wins," Vilden replies resolutely, giving Lael a quick kiss on the cheek.

Lael Kiren
"Especially me," Lael adds winking. He's much too giddy with Vilden's princelike demenor to bother with cyncism and his usual dry tone.

Lillian Haladet
Lillian frowns as she watches Melete, but quickly laughs as Kiren speaks.

"You two are too much," she laughs, covertly projecting something like a subtle neon sign for Iolle's benefit.

Vilden
Encouraged, Vilden grins widely.

"Wouldst thou... uh..." A pause. "Um..."

He frowns as he prepares for his first major slip-up of the night.

"Want anything from the snack table?"

Jiora
"This way," the boy piped up suddenly. He fumbled for a moment before succesfully grabbing Jaclyn's hand, pulling her in the direction of Lillian's projection. That, he recognized, if only barely. He could remember 'seeing' her once before.. Before he passed out, anyway.

Jaclyn stumbled a bit before falling into step alongside the boy, looking rather bewildered. "I didn't hear anything, and I know you can't see..." Though she was beginning to doubt that with the uncanny way the boy was able to get around with ease.

Iolle sighed. "Just trust me," he grumbled as he reached the group of Neilani. Now this was much more comfortable then the rest of the hoarde at the party.

Lillian Haladet
"Mister Duturi," Lillian murmurs, smiling. "I'm happy to see you here. How are you feeling?"

Lael Kiren
Lael couldn't help but laugh at said slip up.

"Maybe a little less of trying to sound like a medival prince and more of a princely Vilden." He tries to choke down the flow of giggles but only manages to make his eyes water so much that he needs to remove his glasses for a moment. Mention of the snack table makes his ears perk up though.

"Hm. I think I would like something." Lael peers nearsightedly in the direction of the table. Can't see what they've got, but I think I can deal with anything as long as it isn't caviar encrusted."

Vilden
"There's some fish with pineapple," Vilden answers, giving Lael another peck on the cheek. "I'll also get you some champagne."

With that, he nearly SKIPS off to the snack table, a trail of warm-fuzzies following him.

Lael Kiren
Lael grins broadly as the blurry form of his uniformed date happy scampers off. Replacing his glasses, he turns to the rest of the people present and projects subtle pleasent greetinglike emotions.

Jiora
Iolle turned toward Lillian, releasing Jaclyn's hand. "I'm feeling okay.. I think I'm allergic to some Gaia thing though. I sneeze a lot at Miss Jiora's house," he grumbled, brows drawing down in an irritated frown.

Jaclyn rolled her eyes and left the boy there for the time being, making her way to the snack table for a bite to eat.

Vilden
Vilden piles his plate high, humming happily as he pours two glasses of champagne.

"Hey," he suddenly remarks, staring at Jacyln. "You look familiar."

Lillian Haladet
"Allergies?" Lillian frowns. "Do you have any idea what sets them off? I can try to schedule an appointment back home for you; we can't have you feeling miserable your entire time here."

Jiora
Jaclyn looked up from the finger foods she'd been examining, peering curiously at Vilden for a few long moments. He did look familiar too.. "Well you do too.." A brief pause. "I think your hair is different though.."

Iolle tilted his head at Lillian, frowning a bit and nodding. "I sneeze the most around Cyrus.. He's Miss Jiora's son." He tugged at the hem of his sleeves for a moment, something prodding at the back of his mind. "Um. He's part fox too.."

Vilden
"Um... yeah..." Vilden laughs nervously. "That's why I'm not taking the hat off."

With that, he suddenly seems nervous. "Oh! Hey! Gotta get this back to Kiren! Later!"

FLEE.

Lillian Haladet
"...I think that can be fixed," Lillian murmurs, nodding. "I'll set up an appointment for you; you'll get a shot, but you shouldn't suffer around him anymore. How does that sound?"

Jiora
"Er..bye?" Jaclyn blinked curiously after the strange man, wondering what was under his hat that could make him so nervous. How odd.. Shrugging, she turned back to the buffet, trying to find something that didn't look like tasteless rich-people junk.

"A shot?" he echoed. That didn't sound like much fun.. Though being stuck sneezing all the time wasn't fun either, and it wasn't as though Cyrus wasn't fun to be around.. ...aside from all the sneezing... "I guess," he murmured, still sounding a bit less than pleased.

Lillian Haladet
"It'll only hurt for a second," Lillian murmurs encouragingly. "I'm VERY good at it; I've had a lot of practice."

Lael Kiren
Lael coughs uncomfortably and inches away from Lillian, looking around for something to pretend to be completely fascinated in...

And here comes his knight in shinning uniform!

"Wow, where's that boat going?" Lael grins jokingly and gestures toward the heavily loaded plate.

Vilden
Vilden doesn't answer at first; he simply holds out a loaded fork just inches away from Lael's lips. "Open."

Lael Kiren
Lael gives Vilden The Eyebrow (TM) and humors him by doing as told.

Vilden
4laugh .

Vilden lovingly feeds Lael, tastefully holding back all comments of "HERE COMES THE AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAIRPLAAAAAAAAAAAAAANE!"

See? Vilden knows where it's at. >>

A man knows how to take care of his b***h.

Jiora
He fidgeted with the ends of his sleeves a bit more, nodding slowly. "It's better than being stuck sneezing forever," he murmured.

Jaclyn approached again, carrying a tray covered in various sweets. "Here ya go, kid," she said fondly, holding one of the cookies out to him.

He took the cookie and nibbled at it, projecting a vague sense of distaste at the lack of anything healthy on her plate.

Lael Kiren
It was an extreme effort of will for Lael NOT to choke on the food.

Sometimes he wondered why he put up with Vilden. This wasn't one of those times. The man did know how to make him laugh... sometimes.

Although he better watch who he was referring to with that "b***h" line. whee

Lillian Haladet
"Well, it's either a shot once or having to take medicine every day," Lillian answers coolly. "I think it would be in your best interests to take the former."

Jiora
He frowned in Lillian's general direction from behind his cookie. Daily medication? It was bad enough he was blind without having to add something like that to his problems. "I'll go with the shot."

Lillian Haladet
Lillian smiles cheerfully. "I knew you would."

Audio Journal #0001
There are a few brief moments in which quiet fumbling and soft grumbles are heard. The creak of a chair squeaks horribly through the speakers, and someone coughs before Iolle finally begins to speak.

Er. I hope this is working. Miss Jiora bought me a tape recorder so I could make my own journal entries. I think it's a nice idea.

Um. I think I'm allergic to Cyrus though. I'm supposed to go have an appointment with Miss Haladet to fix the problem, but Miss Jiora hasn't had a chance to take me in yet. It's pretty boring around here, really.

I mean. There's all kinds of strange things. Like strange floating machines that can speak... One of them can even use empathy. And there was this strange creature that turned into a boy. And this creepy boy covered in fur who wanted to eat the horse-child, I think. But even with all that, it doesn't seem like much ever happens around here. It's just...quiet. I'm not sure yet whether I like it or not.

I think I'm just tired of being in the house all the time. I think I might ask Miss Jiora if we can go somewhere. Maybe to that Fa'e place. The horse-child said there were lots of interesting people like him around there. I think it would be interesting to see what it's like there.

I, um, guess that's all I have to say.

There's another moment or two of fumbling before the tape clicks off.

Audio Journal #0002
There are a few brief moments of rustling, and then the faint squeak of a chair scooting along the floor.

Things have been quiet around here lately. Cyrus left for a while. About a month I think. So I didn't have to worry about any allergies for a while. It was really very nice. I almost wish he hadn't come back. Things have gotten so tense since he has.

I remember feeling his fear when he stood outside. And Rune just exploded in delight. Very loud and irritating delight. I'm just glad I wasn't in the room with him when he realized it was Cyrus. At least Amaya can remain somewhat quiet when she's projecting.

And then Jiora came to the door. I know because there was this explosion of anger. It was almost overwhelming. I think she may have wanted to kill him. I think Rune picked up on it too. But maybe he was just reacting to the way I must've looked. I must have been pale or shocked or something... I just don't remember ever feeling her so angry before.

Cyrus is just...very mixed up. I don't think he can decide on what emotion to feel. It changes every few minutes so I won't even bother trying to explain that. Whatever the case, he's made things very loud here as far as emotion goes.

I almost wish he'd leave again.

There is a click and the recording ends.
