And then, there's 2001: A Space Odyssey, and it's "sequel" 2010: Odyssey Two, aka The Year We Make Contact. Plus I tend to read a fair bit of the late, great Douglas Adams.

Lets see...
Stargate both SG-1 and Atlantis (But SG-1 is better then Atlantis), Star Trek somewhat... it's hit or miss, anything by Arthur C. Clarke, H.G. Wells, and Isaac Asimov, Ghost in the Shell (The TV series, the movies aren't as good), Blade Runner, and Battlestar Galactica.
Yes, Douglas Adams rocks, pity he's dead.
