I am grateful, certainly. Having options brings its share of stress. After accepting that counter-offer, the prospective employer counter-offered as well. Turned them down, as my current employer counter-offering was enough to ensure my loyalty.
So true, the markdown on "luxury" goods is significant if you wait even just 1-2 years. My first phone was already 2 years old when I got it and lasted 4 years. The phone I just had that lasted mere months was refurbished, so not doing that again. My current phone is I think 1 year old, but it's the scaled-down version, so hooray for cost savings!
Sometimes I wish phones & cars were heavily modular so you could get exactly what you wanted for a reasonable price. Phones did try that once, and it was pretty heinous.
Oh, that. Gaia recently has a "please donate, we're dying." As a teen I got more monthly items than I should have, but I figured throwing them $2.50 wouldn't hurt for all the years I got out of this site. Seems now every month versions of this "flair" are given as compensation.

Loyalty is a rare thing- particularly in this economy. Relish what they offered you, good sir. I have a suspicion that they appreciate you staying put. They have a skilled person where they need it, and you chose to stay. It's a mutually beneficial kind of thing and you should be riding high.
yeah, cost savings are a good thing, again in this economy. It can be hard to wait, but doing so can give significant value. It's a waiting game. What is more valuable? Your money to buy it as soon as is possible, or your time to wait for the cost to come down? Sometimes you don't have the choice.
Modular phones- jeez, I remember that nightmare. It was good in theory, but the companies didn't make nearly enough money off of it, and unlike lego, programming limitations ensured that the idea was a logistical nightmare.
I remember using some spare dollars to get donation items. Back when they were called donation items. I wasn't here back when they handed out the original devil tail or halo, but close. I just have trouble buying that they have so many pushes for money, ads, gaia cash, and all that has been done as Kira claimed to "make it too commercial," and still be dying. If it goes down, it's their fault. Not the people that have been here forever. I don't know how much they are going to try to milk the user base for, but it shouldn't be that dire a situation.
