Darkwood Forest.... Beware!

"I don't like having my energy sucked out when I oblige to leave about my business without so much as a trinket." Vaiu returned sardonically.

"You walked into his home, after you attacked him," the girl pointed out. "Devian isn't very forgiving."

Vaiu snorted derisively. "Someone needs to loosen up, granted I did attack first but when I offer to leave I prefer to do it scotch free."

The girl nodded. "He's not so bad once you get to know him," she said in Devian's defense. She was impressed, Vaiu hadn't even bothered to ask her name yet...that didn't usually happen.

"I don't think I'll be staying around to find out," he wrinkled his nose, his eyes looking for the door distractedly.

The girl nodded and smiled. "Well, Devian doesn't want you around to clutter his house either," she said. "Come on, I'll lead you out."

He paused long enough to allow her to take the lead. "So are you staying here?"

The girl looked over her shoulder at Vaiu. "Yeah, I live with Devian," she answered. She led him down a dark cave corridor and back up into Devian's living room.

"This I recognize," Vaiu smiled in relief. "If you are sure that you would rather stay here I will not invite you to come with me."

"I'd better escort you back to town. It isn't safe for people out in the forest after dark," she told him easily.

"Perhaps I can get you a drink of wine or something in thanks," Vaiu suggested feeling in even his black heart that he should show some sort of appreciation.

"Perhaps," the girl replied and led him out of Devian's home.
"You taking him back to town?" came Devian's voice from out of the shadows.

Vaiu turned upon hearing the sound of Devian's voice his mouth curling into a sneer. "Does that bother you?"

"As long as you are far away from me, I don't care where the hell Aure' takes you," Devian answered, his voice sounding like he was right next to Vaiu.

Vaiu's muscles tightened but he didn't turn. "You have my assurances you bloody freak that I will not again wish to step anywhere near you."
