Darkwood Forest.... Beware!

"Why?" the voice asked. "Why are you in such a hurry to leave when you barely have the strength to stand? Why would you trust the hands and the voice of a person you can't even see? I could just as easily kill you as release you," the voice pointed out.

"I am willing to trust you at least," he replied flatly. "You haven't been hostile in the least."

"Hmmm...you are obviously trusting if you haven't asked to see me fully," the voice said thoughtfully. "But then again, you didn't answer my question."

"I have no reason to trust or distrust you, either way, I die or I leave." Vaiu shrugged nonchalantly. "As far as my wanting to leave, who would want to be tied in a place like this and not want to leave?"

The voice laughed. "You speak reason," it said and the hands reappeared, one with a knife. "Now, hold still and this won't hurt a bit."

Vaiu tensed upon seeing the knife, he prayed that the disembodied hands and voice were going to undo his bonds rather than skewer him like a fish fresh from the ocean.

Slowly the hands and the knife approached Vaiu and took hold of the ropes that were binding him. With a flash, the knife cut through the bonds around his arms and legs. "See, that didn't hurt," the voice said as the knife disappeared.

Instantly Vaiu lept at the hands trying to figure out just who it was who was trying to help him...or get him into more trouble.

Completely surprised by the action, the hands fell back, the cloak of camoflage falling away from a rather pretty girl with thick silver hair, electric blue eyes and tannish peach skin. She lie on the ground, pinned beneath Vaiu. Her eyes held a slight sparkle of fear.

Vaiu stared at the girl in shock, seeing the fear in her eyes he picked himself off of her and offered her his hand.
"I did not mean to frighten you so," he was slightly winded by the exertion. "I just am not fond of not knowing what I'm up against."

The girl took his hand and pulled herself up. "Once again, I gave you the chance to ask, and you didn't take it," she pointed out wryly. "It was that you scared me, it was that you surprised me...and considering what Devian told me about your little fight, I couldn't help it," she added.

"What exactly did he tell you?" Vaiu was instantly suspicious that he was protrayed as the pathetic shadow with a big head.

"He said you were powerful, and considering how much darkness you fed Bane, he was right. But he also said you had a bit of an ego," she replied.

His grin was ruefull. "I suppose that I have a bit of a head on me, but I had no intention of feeding that monster so much, I wanted to leave but SOMEONE had other plans."

The girl smiled a half smile. "Devian doesn't appreciate being assaulted on his own territory. He takes it personally," she explained.
