Bleach episode summaries

Episode 1

Ichigo Kurosaki can see the spirits of the dearly departed. This is a rare gift for a young person to be able to do and can put them in the psycho ward in other countries for suffering from hallucinations. Anyway, a soul reaper named Rukia Kutchki was on the hunt for evil spirits called Hollows when she ran into Ichigo.

Normally, soul reapers cannot be seen by humans, but Ichigo can clearly see her. This has got to mean something right? Other than he is crazy I mean.

When a hollow attacks his family, Ichigo rushes in to face this demon forcing Rukia to transfer her powers to him because she had to stop his stupidity. Now a soul reaper, Ichigo is charged with having to deal with the dead whether that means sending the good ones to "heaven" aka the soul society or to exorcise the hollows who have turned evil.

Episode 2

Meeting Rukia at school the next day proved to be a shock to Ichigo because now normal people can see her. Her excuse was she had to be placed inside of a gigai, which is a human suit while she regains her powers. But, she does have tools to help Ichigo learn how to be a soul reaper.

One of the reasons why soul reapers do the one-hit kill is for the safety of others. 1. It will mask the identity of the hollow so that feelings do not get in the way of duty. 2. The hollows hurt people so naturally, the quicker the defeat of the hollow the better.

Ichigo learns the identity of one of the hollows and is now hesitant to kill it because it used to be someone he knew.

Episode 3

Sora, who was Orohime's brother in life now a hollow, tried to kill Orohime because he was sad that she forgot about him 1 year after he died or so he thought. She in fact wore a hair pin that she gave him in memory of him and she felt that if she had friends that she would no longer have to rely on someone who is already gone to ease her pain.

This explanation brought peace to Sora and using Ichigo's sword, passed on to the soul society.

It was also explained by Rukia that because Sora retained most of his human emotions as a hollow that a more powerful hollow brought Sora into the fold and it is that more powerful Hollow that wants Ichigo dead. So, in later episodes, we will find out who this more powerful hollow is.

Episode 4

A young cockatiel is adopted by a Spanish giant named Yasatoro Sato aka Chad where whomever has had this bird in the past has died. A hollow has been playing a game with this bird and giving chase to it.

Meanwhile, Karin, who is Ichigo's younger sister has seen the memories of the bird and tells Ichigo that if the soul inside the bird passes on, then the soul can see his mother again.

Rukia tries to fend off the hollow and finds herself in real danger and Chad is on the way to help fight.

Episode 5

It is revealed that in this episode the hollow that was giving Rukia a good chase and that had attacked Chad was in fact a serial killer in life. He also lied to the kid who is now a bird claiming that if the kid did what the hollow asked, that the hollow would bring the kid's mother back to life. Nobody could bring the dead back to life, but the kid believed the hollow anyway.

When Chad helped to fight the hollow, even though Chad could not see it, he was able to connect a few hits. Chad and Rukia worked together until Ichigo showed up. And once that happened, that hollow was through. The underworld took the hollow because the hollow was a bad guy in life. A deserving fit.

Rukia explained that most souls when they pass on, as long as they didn't commit a serious crime while alive, they will go to the soul society aka heaven. But, if they have committed serious crimes and are proud of it, the underworld is where they go once they die.

Episode 6

Rukia was on a mission to get Ichigo a better way to turn into a soul reaper without her having to be there. Getting some soul candy from Urahara's shop, Rukia thought she had gotten what she paid for, but instead got some defective goods.

She ended up getting a mod soul, which in lamens terms means a super human substitute. The modded Ichigo was running around like a super hero without a care in the world until he happened upon some young kids ditching class to play video games.

It is what the kids said that got modded Ichigo upset and modded Ichigo was about to teach those kids a lesson by beating them up when soul reaper Ichigo came to their rescue.

Episode 7

Soul reaper Ichigo and the mod soul fight when a hollow alert came in. Soul reaper Ichigo and Rukia take off when Rukia realizes they were going the wrong way. The mod soul finds the hollow first and attacks it, but in doing so, injures Ichigo's physical body.

When Soul reaper Ichigo shows up and tag teams with the mod soul, they take care of the hollow. When Kiske wanted to destroy the mod soul, Rukia tells Kiske she is happy with her purchase and then Soul reaper ichigo puts the candy that was in his physical body into a stuffed Lion and named it Kon.

The date was June 17th and it was time for Ichigo and the rest of the Kurosaki family to go to the cemetary to pay homage to Ichigo's mom when she was mysteriously killed after saving kid Ichigo's life.
