Sedna knelt near a bed of glowing flowers on Encke's comet. Pale fingers were held underneath the petals, always fascinated with the way the light reflected off of her skin from the foliage. His comet was amazing. She had admitted as much when she'd been Stillwaterite, and it was still just as amazing as her first trip. This was her second, and the Eternal had been oh so kind enough to humor her request once again when she asked him to take her.

The Super was slowly building up to take the plunge and go visit her own planet. She hadn't since she had purified, still. It wasn't that she was afraid. No. It wasn't that. She was settling more into her return to Order as a Super, and being more capable and comfortable in that skin made her feel better to go and scope out her planet soon. It didn't feel right to go until she felt more secure in her place.

She wanted the reminder of how beneficial it could be, so she wanted to see Encke's comet again.

Admittedly, she had something else she wanted to talk to him about, as well.

Encke had been taking a lot of people up to his comet lately.

Not that there was a problem with that, really. Encke liked the solitude that his comet provided, especially when it meant he could just put his head down and focus on the repairs, focus on the relaxation, sometimes even focus on the memories that washed over him as he wandered around. But he also liked getting to show his comet to others, letting others explore the comet, answering their questions, sometimes enlisting their help, and hell, even enjoying the time that he could breathe free of the chaotic auras that wandered the Earth, no matter who was with him.

It was nice that when he took Sedna up with him this time, she didn't bring with her that tainted Chaotic sensation that she had last time. He had certainly been willing. That didn't mean he liked the idea of his comet harboring Chaos at any point.

"You like?" asked Encke, casually, as he sat himself down nearby. In his hand, he was holding a small bag of sweets, food something he was growing accustomed to bringing with him on trips to space. If she didn't want any, he was perfectly fine eating them all himself. "The plant life is only growing more abundant, I think. This place is clearly rocky terrain, never will be covered in lush plants, but there's areas that might be."

Like this little place, with the glowing plants that reflected light on his body.

He glanced up to the sky for a moment, eyes widening in wonder as he noticed an asteroid in the sky at a distance. What was it like over there? Did that asteroid have a senshi? Did that asteroid contain an unseen society at one time or another? Did it currently?

Encke let out a contented sigh.

Sedna glanced at the Eternal as he settled nearby, and smirked lightly. "It's alright." Which, considering the nature of their friendship and that one should always read in-between the lines with their words, meant yes, she did. Since Encke was making himself comfy, Sedna did the same. She shifted from a kneel to sitting nearby the flowers, tucking her legs underneath her.

She listened as he spoke, and when he stopped, she glanced at him again. His attention was fixed on something, so she turned to look as well. Ah. She looked at it for a moment, but didn't hold the same fascination for it as he currently did. She turned her gaze back to the flowers.

"When you're on Earth or here---" Sedna started after a moment, "And you look up at the sky and see all the stars and the planets---do you still find the sight purely wondrous?" She looked over at him. "Or is it tainted by the knowledge of what they really are because of what you are?" While she knew the man was passionate about his comet and space, and wanted to be able to live out here, she wondered if the sight of it made him feel negative at all, too.

At the it's alright, Encke quirked a playful eyebrow, and returned with an, "Oh really."

But he didn't poke her about it any further, knowing as well as her to read between the lines of the sassy games they tended to play with each other. That was what their relationship was. He suspected, on some level, it may have been related to how their relationship started, but--

His gaze shifted from the stars to her when she spoke again, watching her as she asked him what was admittedly a relatively serious question. Was the wonder gone? He pursed his lips in curiosity, glancing back up at the sky, at the nearby asteroid, at the stars and likely other asteroids in the distance. He wondered if they were at the right orientation to see Mars from here. They were getting closer to it, at least, closer than they were about a month ago or so...

He was getting distracted.

"I wouldn't call it tainted," he finally decided, his gaze shifting back to the nearby asteroid. "Shifted, maybe. Expanded. When I look out there to space, I don't just feel stunned by how pretty the view is. I'm in wonder of how much is out there. How many societies there may have been, how many there may be still to discover. Just how many trillions of people must have lived in the universe, perhaps still live in the universe. How many trillions of plants, animals, the skies of each of those places, the architecture, the--"

He cut himself off with a laugh. "My creative side loves imagining what's out there. I am an actor, after all."

After a brief pause, he leaned forward, letting out a brief sigh. "I suppose the only thing that taints it is the knowledge that all these societies were wiped out, including my own." Somehow.

Sedna watched him as he answered, and the reply was very well---him. The thought briefly made a corner of her lips pull up. He was very passionate about it. Took his comet's condition to heart. Said things like my own society, and it truly was crazy to think that all Senshi had a celestial body they were in charge of. Knights their wonders. Places. Places bigger than an apartment or a home in a suburban neighborhood.

"I see."

That hadn't been originally what she wanted to ask, but watching him look at that asteroid had made her want to ask. "I'm interested in people's replies to that question." She explained. "I asked Beringia once, what he felt when he looked at the night sky, in light of everything." Sedna trailed off for a moment, and turned her attention back to the sky above them.

"I can't remember not being a Senshi. I can't remember if I ever thought the night sky was beautiful. When I look at it now...I don't feel much. An acknowledgement that it's where we came from. That there's worlds out there. When I look to the sky, I think of your comet and Methone's beaches---but then I think about all the celestial bodies and wonders that are under the banner of the Negaverse and it...doesn't make anything wondrous." She looked back at Encke, the corner of her lips pulling into a wry smile before it faded.

"I'm getting off topic though. I actually wanted to talk to you about Transcendence. I know what it does, what it can do---but how did you attain it?"

Encke quirked a brow, quietly asking, "What did Berginia think?" legitimately curious as to what the relatively stoic man tended to think of something that was so vast and wondrous.

Thinking of those things under the Negaverse's control definitely drew a bit of a frown to his face. How many of these places up above them were currently under a Chaotic veil? Was the asteroid above them under a Chaotic veil? What about the ones in the distance? What about the moons surrounding Mars? What about Mars itself? He had no way of knowing, really, though considering there were Martian Knights he assumed that was safe.

"They were places that used to be wondrous," concluded Encke, simply, turning his attention back to Sedna finally. "And with work, I think we can make them all wondrous again."

Even if that meant eventually meant sending those unredeemable of the Negaverse back to the Cauldron.

... He ... at least assumed dead Negaverse agents went back to the Cauldron...

Transcendence. Encke's brows lifted in interest, and his more serious expression quickly morphed into something more excited. Was Sedna interested? Did she want to transcend? He supposed it would only make sense. It would keep her safe. He wanted to keep everyone safe, really, and if everyone was transcendent, they were at least safe from the most monstrous of things the Negaverse did.

"I went to my comet a lot. I restored it. I spent time here. Learned the land. Repaired the paths. Got the electricity running. That was what actually did it, actually." Encke laughed. "In my years of being lower level, I eventually found this hidden entrance to the government building over there," he gestured in the direction of the still visible Tesla coiled spire, "and it took me into the basement of sorts. Found some rooms. A painting of my past self, even." At that, Encke smirked.

"I was hot in my past life, too."

It was nice to feel a bit confident in himself, again.

"But eventually I stumbled upon a room with a giant metal pole in it. Had a memory of myself actually electrocuting it to stabilize it so I used my abilities on it. And then the lights turned on. I got blown back and woke up like this."

While she couldn't remember first hand what Beringia had said, it had been one of those many things she had written down. The date she had with the Knight as Knot had been one of the things she had recorded in a lot of detail. A corner of Sedna's lips pulled up. "The sky doesn't change because there's worlds out there, because people would find a way to make things small anyways. That there's always been other life out there. He thinks it's interesting we can travel and learn the history." The senshi paused for a moment, and then looked back at Encke, her lips pulling into a smirk.

"Don't let that profound answer fool you though---he doesn't visit his Wonder that often."

She listened intently as he went about describing how he transcended, and she supposed that it made a lot of sense. He had reforged his bond with his comet, and in turn for strengthening the bond and rebuilding, it had rewarded him. Just too bad Transcendence didn't grant teleportation while on Earth, too.

A pale brow rose as the man smirked, and at the comment about being hot, Sedna let out a chuckle. "Maybe you should go hang a mirror next to it, hm? Admire yourself and your past self at the same time." But the thought made her wonder...what did she look like in her past life and...

Well.

It was honestly kind of weird to think they had all existed before this. The same soul. Over and over. Different existences. Suddenly the thought wasn't so curious as it made her feel uneasy. A life before this one...in a way similar to her current lifetime now. She couldn't remember twenty one years of life, but she had lived them. Perhaps that was the same as a past life as well...

Still, she didn't like the thought of it.

"I see. Is that a guarantee?" She asked. "If you spend time at your space rock, if you take care of it, eventually it will grant you Transcendence?"

Encke snorted quietly. "Why does that not surprise me?"

He didn't know terribly much about the Russian man that Sedna had fallen for, but in his brief time with him, a profound answer that sounded like he respected space for what it wasn't didn't terribly surprise him. It also didn't surprise him that Berginia apparently didn't go to space very much. Wasn't he a police officer, anyway?

Probably more concerned about Earth in that case...

At the idea of admiring himself and the mirror, he jokingly shot back that it wasn't a bad idea, but honestly, he mostly just went back down there to get a look at the electronics that were running everything down there. He wished he had more technological knowledge. Maybe someday, he could recruit a cat to come up with him. Maybe there was some way to reuse some of those things for Earthan purposes...

A guarantee?

Encke knit his brows. He wasn't sure he could call it a guarantee per se, but...

"Maybe not a guarantee, but there's a, how would Luke put it," he murmured, mind immediately going to the mathematical statistics nonsense he sometimes heard Luke discuss with Garber over family dinners, "a positive correlation, maybe?" Was that the right term or-- "I've noticed the senshi I've met who are similar to my level who have spent a lot of time on their planets, taking care of it, seem to be transcendent."

He glanced back up at the asteroid above them thoughtfully.

"It's enough that I'm willing to bet that's how you transcend, anyway."

It was enough that he was pushing Anser to go to her planet more, urging Basiluzzo to go visit his, continuing to work with Pendour on hers, talked to people about space in general and encouraged them to explore, and it wasn't like he didn't like space naturally, but if space was the key to protecting them against what the Negaverse liked to do--

The ghost of a smile lingered on Sedna's face as they spoke about the Russian Knight, the clear indicator of just how much she adored the man, his surly 'no' ways and all.

It disappeared though into her neutral expression as Encke spoke about the correlation, and she nodded her head. "Ah. Alright. That makes sense." But also it was a bit disappointing, if only because something that was so beneficial to combating Chaos didn't have a definitive yes or no answer to achieve it. No clear directive. Just hopefully do this thing for a long period of time and it seemed likely. Still, it was better than nothing.

Sedna took this moment to look at the comet environment again, assessing it in a new light. The effort and man power that went into tending to this place. Until she visited her own planet, she had no way to assess what work would be ahead of her. How big was Sedna? Did it have flowers, too? Flora? Fauna? Did it have ships?

Really, the important question, here.

"Any other words of advice on the matter?"

Seiana_ZI
PostPosted: Fri Apr 05, 2019 3:39 pm

Encke chuckled. Any advice?

"Whatever you're expecting? It's probably entirely different."

Honestly, while it felt like it couldn't be anything else at this point, Encke didn't know what he expected when he had originally found out he could go to his comet. He certainly hadn't expected a place with tall spires, eventual electricity, glowing plants, shifting seasons, and a suspicious absence of any sign of living humanoid life despite the memories he often experienced while on the comet...

"Also," he glanced over to her once more, taking his eyes off the asteroid above finally and quirking a brow, "this might sound funny, but the longer you're on your planet, the more you'll remember... then."

Then being her past life.

"I have memories fairly often here. Have a fairly good picture of what I was like in my past life, when I was known as," he cleared his throat, puffed out his chest, and continued, "the Chosen King of the People, First Born Descendent of the First House of Encke, The Designated Senshi of Encke's Comet," the way he said the words were boisterous and grand, fitting of the respect they commanded in the past.

It didn't stop him from snickering afterward.

"Might be disorienting at first. You won't expect it. It might be sudden. You'll relive things. See things. Learn who you were. Learn who others were. Wish that maybe you knew what happened to all those people." Wonder if it was somehow his fault.

A brow rose. "Well, one benefit to my current situation is that I have no expectations." So in that, perhaps she was set. Sedna listened to the other advice Encke had to give, and as he spoke about the past life and getting memories back from then, Sedna's neutral expression turned flat. She was struck by a sudden cord of do not want, and if anything she suddenly felt a little irritated. She'd get some glimpses into a life that happened a very long time ago by spending time on her planet, but she couldn't get back anything from the last twenty one years?

That was ******** up.

The Super was silent for a moment, lips briefly pressed into a thin line before she spoke up. "What's the point?" She asked. "To get those memories. Do they serve a purpose? Are they relevant to what we're facing right now on Earth?"

Seiana_ZI

There was a brief moment where Encke wondered why she suddenly looked more... Well, not agitated, but certainly less neutral. Maybe she was agitated. But what had he said that--

When she asked what the point was, he quietly said, "Ah."

Memories, right.

It was a good thing to prepare her for, but...

"I think the memories are mostly to teach us who we were before, before whatever swept through our worlds took it all away. To teach us what these planets were once like when they were bustling with life. To show us what they could be again, if we wanted them to be. To show us the story of the world you're standing on before it ended up in the state it currently is, since there are no history books and we're all that's left."

He fidgeted in his lap, admittedly a little more at a loss with this particular question, but also wanting to give her an answer.

"I think it's more related directly to the restoration of what the planet was, but perhaps we can learn things that might be helpful to us on Earth, too. What actually wiped us out. Strategies to deal with it and them. Strategies in general. Diplomacy." That felt very Enckean. "I think it fully depends on who your past life actually was on how much you'll get in that field."

He glanced upwards, towards a lightning bolt.

Running his hand through his hair, he added, "My memories have recently shown more of the usage of the tech here. I'd like to adapt it to Earth, maybe." He needed a Mauvian for that, but...

She was irritated, and then she was irritated that she had gotten irritated. It didn't change anything. It didn't fix anything, so it was a pointless emotion right now. Just...

Memories were a touchy subject in the right circumstance.

Chaos had ripped almost all of her's away, and the best Order could do was give her some from a life long past that wasn't her current one.

It was a joke she didn't find funny.

Sedna stared off above for a long moment, listening to Encke's explanation, and he was a good sport. She had put him a bit on the spot with an edge, she knew, and he expressed what he thought of it. After a moment more, the edge she felt seeped out of her, because it didn't change anything, and it didn't help.

"Thank you for the heads up." She said, and she meant it. It'd well, suck, to have had that happen without the warning. "I'm going to visit it soon. I haven't gone since I purified." Apparently she hardly went before she'd been corrupted as well, though she didn't know why. It wasn't really relevant to the now though. She wouldn't have remembered even if she had visited it multiple times in the past.

He ran his hand through his hair, again, before lowering his hand and constraining his fidgeting to his lap. Well, at least he had managed a good explanation, considering those were just shots in the dark.

Well, not entirely in the dark.

He had a pretty good idea of how these things worked after so long, but it wasn't like he knew what his comet was thinking.

(Did his comet think? Was that a thing comets did? If he thought it was alive it probably--)

Sucking his brain in from its distraction, Encke offered Sedna a grin at the idea of her going to her planet. She was going to go. Maybe he could go at some point, but most importantly, she was going to go. If she became attached to her planet the way Encke had become attached to his, perhaps she could protect herself from Chaos trying that s**t again and attempting to corrupt her once more. And then that would be one less potential person in their force, a person who did much better on their side, he thought--

"I can't blame you. Gotta readjust to being back on the right side, after all," teased Encke, lightly, and he was back to his normal cadence. "I'm excited you're going to go up there, though! I hope you like it. I hope you spend time on it." A pause, a moment, before he continued, with a wink, "I hope you take me, when you're ready."

Sedna turned her attention back to the flowers nearby, looking at them. It was a brief thought---she hoped her planet had something beautiful on it, too. But until she went, and actually saw, there was no point in speculating. No point in hoping.

She was a bit amused at the tease, but it didn't make her to her face---not even a twitch of the lips. "I'll let you know when I do." The Super replied, and looked back at him in time to see the wink. That did make the corner of her lips pull up, briefly. "Only if it's cooler than your's." Had to tease a bit back in return.
