The Sacking of Ilum

Setting: Ilum.
An ice planet of little interest to anyone other than the Jedi who have built their temple here. This planet serves as a training ground for young Padawans who have reached the final stages of their training. The Jedi Temple sits atop a cavern full of adegan crystals that the Jedi use to power their lightsabers. It was build there so that when a Padawan reached the end of their training they could pass their final trial in the cavern and construct their own lightsaber. Unfortunately a security leak betrayed the location of the temple to the Sith Empire. An Empire that initially thought it too costly to siege the planet. An Empire that was persuaded by a dark influence to attack anyways. Now the skies above Ilum burn with the blaster fire of an Imperial Invasion.

Galen Drexel

The sound of his own breath beat in Galen's ears as he and two other jedi accompanied by a horde of younglings raced down the staircase leading into the Adegan Crystal Cave. His black robes clung to his body with sweat. He'd run from the front lines to the Jedi temple and down so many stair that when he finally reached the opening to the cavern and saw a master sitting in a circle with a bunch of the Padawans he couldn't manage any words. He took in deep breaths and the cold air choked him slightly but air was air and it made him feel better. "Get the younglings into the cave! Hide them! Orgus, the Sith are here!" Galen shouted orders at the other Jedi even though he was not their commander. He was not in charge but he had the will to act and that was all it ever took to do good. Orgus, the Jedi Master who had been speaking with the Padawans stood quickly in surprise. "I'll rally the troopers. Galen find your master. If the Sith are here, we will need him."

Marius was shaken from his meditation quite literally when the Jedi Temple trembled. Imperial artillery fire shook the ground every five minutes and it had become quite bothersome as far as maintaining meditation went. He could feel every life in the temple but nothing further. He could sense a great source of power somewhere on Ilum but he could not pinpoint where. It was frustrating but frustration was not something Marius felt. Not when he was as well trained as he was. Instead of frustration he surrendered himself to the force and let it guide him. It granted him visions but nothing good. He saw his apprentice in the grips of the dark side again now equal parts machine and man. He saw Ilum razed and left a firey hell. But he could not see the weapon that had made these events pass and before he was granted any more visions, Galen burst through the door to his room. "Master, Master Orgus has gone to the front lines. Masters Jin and Odette are leading the fight in the air. The Imperial forces are at our gates- what- what do we do?"

"Breath, Galen. You are a Knight of the Jedi Order. The Force is your ally. Defend the temple." Marius spoke in a calming tone as he clipped his lightsaber onto his belt walked out of the room with Galen. "I will go to the front lines, you aid Master Jin and Master Odette." Galen didn't need to be told twice. He took off running down the hall in the opposite direction while Marius walked from the temple. The Jedi Temple itself was build into the side of a cliff. There were some defenses around it but the real defense was the grand door that only the force could open. Well the force or a really big boom. The ground defenders had set up cover and weaponry which they were using to keep the Sith forces at bay. Ilum's white snow was matted with red and the dead. Marius drew his lightsaber and the yellow blade hummed to life. Then he joined the battle. Meanwhile Galen reached his XS Stock Light Freighter and took to the sky's where many a ship were engaged in aerial warfare.

[Rhyming Demon]

While the troopers and some of the Sith assaulted the Temple, Darth Malevolence was already on temple walls behind enemy lines. Staying calm and collected as usual amidst the chaos. His job was to make sure no Jedi escaped. To ensure the capture of any younglings but more importantly to strike down any of their guardians who were sent to rescue them. But by the time he arrived the temple. The younglings were already gone. He would then meditate sensing and seeking the light side of the force. Feeling where it burned brightest. He then could feel that some the younglings fear. As it would only be natural for a child to be afraid in an invasion such as this. Which would make some of them right for the pickings of the dark side of the force. He focused on their location and would hurriedly yet quietly made for their location. However in-spite sneaking behind enemy lines with his presence in the force hidden. No means of stealth or skill could stop him from being spotted at the temple entrance. It was then he drew his red light sabres ready to face his enemy.

Master Orgus

The younglings would be safely protected behind the temple, and then the secret door to the adegan crystal cave. If both were breached their instructors would take them deeper into the caves and try to fight back but it would be a losing battle. Fortunately they were far from needing to fear that and Darth Malevolence could only mask himself so well. The Jedi Malevolence would face first was not Marius, but a simple Knight who charged boldly and foolishly at Malevolence. Once that fool was cut down Malevolence would find a much more worthy foe in the form of Jedi Master Orgus Rey. He wore light robes, a mask and wielded a double sided lightsaber with a yellow blade. Orgus was surprised to see a sith so far beyond their defenses already but he didn't concern himself because he intended to deal with the sith promptly and he charged.

The Huntress of Mandalore, as her reputation proceeded her, had recently captured a few Republic deserters. It was a rather easy gig, mostly since the fleeing soldiers walked right into her foot traps. She could hear the moans from her hold. "Zip it. You fled and you got bounties." She could see she was also getting low on fuel, lucky for her the stop had a fueling station. Flicking a switch on her fighter she cleared her voice. "This is Huntress to Tower, I got five runners bagged and tagged. Needing fuel as well." When receiving her landing codes she took the fighter in, MPs and a fuel team ready for her. Stepping out she led the limping out. "Alive with nearly broken bones. Got some spare rations for my pets and I?" With a nod she was shown to the mess.

Eating the room as a whole shook, alarms sounded. The Mandalorian female sighed heavily and stood up. "Of course... why can’t we have nice things." Strolling to her ship she went to the c**k pit, flipping a few switches. Switching to the Republic channels. "Hey Saber-Jockeys... seems your darker buddies have other plans. Anyways I’m still on planet, got fuel, and ammo to spare. Where would you guys like me since I’m still under contract. Over." Tae was very serious about the offer and being helpful. Besides she wouldn’t make it past the blockade without some help. "The ground game or the air game."

Darth Malevolence, spotted the oncoming Jedi Master, and ready his stance defensively with both of his light sabres already drawn and powered on as their humming could be heard with their red lights giving the hall and eerie red glow. His stance almost was beckoning the Jedi in a taunting manner. However Darth Malevolence did not underestimate his adversary. He could sense this Master was one with the force. As such he remained calm and collected as he waited for his adversary to attack, try to anticipate any surprise Orgus might have.

"To the skies Mandelorian! We need to keep the Sith Lords from landing!" Jedi Master Jin commanded as he boarded fighter and began the takeoff sequence. He'd been a soldier before he was a Jedi and it left it's mark on him. That also meant he was a good pilot and could aid in the sky if called upon. Galen Drexel was not far behind but he spared no words to the mandelorian. Galen was determined to stop the Sith not lead the relief. Ge boarded his ship and prepared for takeoff as well. Within moments they'd all be in the air where the fun really began. Meanwhile four fighters piloted by four different dark lords made their way towards the ground. Two broke off to fight the Republic's air forces and two continued their descent until they'd landed. They were going for the temple. Elsewhere Master Orgus had challenged Darth Malevolence and the battle began. Orgus charged and as he closed the distance between them he swung his left arm upwards. Suddenly a potted tree flew across the hall at Malevolence. It would reach him the same time as a swift horizontal swipe of Orgus' yellow lightsaber's singing blade.

With a suggestion received the Bounty Hunter began to flip switches, though she cursed about not getting a cloaking drive. "Roger that Saber Jockey, gonna be flying skies." Tae's engine would roar to life, slowly moving to the center of the hanger before taking off. She'd stay low, going at max speed before pulling back on the yoke. Her ship, Frost Vain, would pull hard and go up. Firing up and weaving between firing enemy fighters. "Hey Ace, if you can keep fighters off my a** I'll prioritize transports." Firing at a few more ships as enemy fighters tried to shoot her rear. Flipping a few switches the fins would turn as breaked, the enemy crafts zipping past to be infront of her. She'd fire at them, clipping engines and wings before turning back to her attack plan. "Care to coordinate Darling?"

Darth Malevolence, would deflect the distraction of the potted plant with his off hand saber as his primary hand saber would deflect the real threat, Orgus’ saber once. The two lightsabers would collide, and then the Sith would bring in his second saber to make a cross motion to keep the two individuals locked in place. But likely this trick wouldn’t last long on someone as experienced as Orgus. “Don’t take me for a fool Jedi, cheap amateur force thrown trucks won’t work on me!” Darth Malevolence said tauntingly, trying to get under Orgus’s skin, for anger was the path to the dark side.

Armies At War

Master Jin had always been a maverick of his own right. He wasn't quite one to coordinate an attack once the attack was imminent. Lord Callum and Darth Nyx had reached the temple because the air forces failed to coordinate but it was not entirely the fault of the air forces. the sith numbers were overwhelming even with the Mandalorian and jedi successfully bringing down ships. Tae was right, the best way to survive would be to run.

Orgus found Darth Malevolence to be more taxing than he'd initially expected but the fight was young. There were more and more sith forces landing and besieging the temple but there was little that Orgus could do about that until he cut down the sith in his way. Malevolence had locked their sabers by trapping Orgus's between his two crossed blades but Orgus had a surprise. In a single motion he ignite the bottom half of his blade and swept it upwards in an undercut like fashion- freeing the top half of his lightsaber in the process.

The Sith has no choice but to break its lock with the maneuver that Orgus pulled. In response Darth Malevolence would do a semi backflip, semi cartwheel backwards about five feet from his opponent. The Sith decided to reveal his plan to his adversary.

“By delaying me and my mission Jedi, you only are sentencing death to your kind from my brothers. For they will not be as merciful as I.”

He kept both blades ready, but would allow Orgus time to process and absorb Malevolence’s words. Perhaps Orgus would use the force to use precognition to see what the Sith saw. Or perhaps Orgus would see an alternate ending.
