Evening - Abriels Quarters
As Abriel entered his room he could not help but wonder what had caused such an arousal of attention at the wall. He peered out of his bedroom window to see a cluster of torches flickering on the wall, each torch carried by one guardsman. His attention shifted as a bell began to ring. The bel was only rung when the township was being evacuated. In the distance he could see people on horses, woman and children rushing up the Kings road towards the gate to garrison inside the castle keep. Abriel watched as the woman and children were escorted into the keep and the men were handed a sword and shield and sent towards the ramparts. He turned back towards his armor stand. His armor was still newish but still bearing the scorn of battle on it. The leather straps frayed slightly at the edges, the glistening metal plates had minor surface scratches and the chain mail underneath was missing a couple links. He unbuttoned his shirt and put on his padded gambeson and breeches. He reached for his chest plate, folding it off of the stand and slipped it on his torso while he occasionally peered out the window towards the ramparts looking to see a change. It wasn't long before he had fully donned his half plate armor and began tightening the straps ensuring a tight fit. He grabbed his patterned blue and gold trench coat to wear over his armor and shield from the cold leaving it open and unbuttoned. He grabbed his sword belt and quickly strapped it to his waist and fastened three silvered throwing daggers on his right side. As he grabbed his armet he took one last peer out the window. As he gazed through a hawked swooped in through his window. Abriel quickly took a few steps back his hand pressed onto the hilt of one of his daggers. The hawk perched onto one of the pegs of the armor stand and began rubbing its beak into its wing. Abriel noticed a small letter tied to the hawks leg. He approached the hawk slowly and carefully and reached out to the note and gently removed it. The letter itself was sealed with the symbol of Laurelt. I wonder what they could want? He tucked the letter away into one of his inner coat pockets. He grabbed a hold of his armet and tucked in into his arm as he left his room.
Abriel headed into to the hall where Eulalia had just exited as well. As he got closer to her he could see that she was still quite upset. Abriel was about to say something when she grabbed him by the arm and pulled him into a darker space. Shiver barked almost politely as if he were announcing himself which drew Abriels attention.
"Why is shiver coming with us? I thought he was still recovering from the attack?" Abriel asked with a puzzled look. Shiver kept close to Eulalias heel until she stopped, he then then sat down with his nose in the air looking up at her. Abriel turned back to her and noticed she was almost in a trance. She sounded as though she was evoking some sort of powerful magic. As she spoke the hall got dark. The torch sconces slowly went out one by one. Abriel could feel her arm tighten around his as the darkness got closer until the hall was pitch black and for a moment Abriel could see nothing and then he could see everything. He could see trees for miles, the kingdom township ahead, the starry night sky and strange shadowy figures moving closer like spilled ink on paper. He was on the wall with the other guards. Many of the guards were taken aback by his sudden appearance and he could hear from a couple that their torches went out for a moment. One of the more decorated guards approached Abriel an Eulalia. He looked similar to the other guards with the exception that he wore a more elegant cloak that was patterned with Sorens symbol.
"My lord, glad to see you could make it here so expediently... " The Guardsmen spoke. He was clutching onto a halberd and almost was leaning on it weight. " Were not quite sure whats going on but as far as we can tell the town has befallen to some sort of infestation of evil. We've called for the evacuation of the town. Some of the townsfolk described that they had been attacked by shadows moving in the night, the unearthed dead and strange moving rocks. "
" How do you suggest we fight a shadow... Eulalia what can you make of this? " Abriel asked. As he turned to her he could see her attention was elsewhere. She was intently staring into the shapeless black mass that began blotting out the sky. A sinister look came across her face, one that he'd never seen before. She'd almost look as though she were excited. She let out a breath that almost growled as she did. "Eulalia? " Abriel asked again hoping to get her attention. Her attention to the black mass unwavered and Abriels words were barely audible to her. He went to reach out to her and she disappeared. In that very instant and otherworldly screeched pierced the cold air. Looking to its point of origin he could see Eulalia destroying one of the shadowy creatures.
" She doesn't waste time does she my lord... " The decorated guardsman chuckled uneasily. " No she doesn't.." Abriel retorted. Abriel watched as Eulalia battled with the shades. She moved very fluidly and struck gracefully. It looked as though she were dancing elegantly with the shadows as they slowly were being destroyed one by one. Shiver growled and lept up onto one of the archer slits on the wall and began barking angrily at the creatures that slowly began encroaching their way in. Abriel followed behind Shiver and looked down to the ground. The townsfolk were accurate in their descriptions. He could see animated skeletons marching forth, some clad in metallic armor and chain mail. Their sword dragged behind them as the trudged through the snow. Behind them he could see what could only be described as a rock man. It shape was hewn of rock and lumbered forth. its arms looked as though they were the size of an average sized man. A chill ran across Abriels spine for a moment, and it wasn't the cold air.
" Orders my lord?" The guardsman asked. Abriel though briefly and began opening his mouth when he heard behind him a voice yelling " Ballistas ready! " Instantly the guards manned the ballistas mounted to the wall. " Archers ready! " The voiced called again. Abriel recognized the voice and turned back to see Lorrick and his honor guard approaching along the wall behind him. " Guards ready positions! " The guards around Abriel quickly shifted and form a line across the wall each with their weapon drawn and helmet closed. Lorrick approached Abriel and sneered slightly at him. " Did you forget how to command while you were frolicking with your pet dogs? We are under attack and you couldn't even get the garrison ready? " Lorrick turned to the battle field where he could see the dead approaching rather quickly even through the snow. " This wont do at all. Follow me perhaps you might learn something. " Lorrick approached the walls edge and looked down. His mage fisted gauntlet reached out open handed the green gem glowing brightly on it. His hand clenched as though he were grabbing something. At that moment the ground shook violently Abriel watched as a massive imprint of a clenched hand pressed deeply into the snow. Lorricks clenched hand began to pull back. As Lorricks hand pulled back the ground itself pulled apart like a fissure. This was the first time Abriel had seen Lorrick use mage fist this way. Hundreds of skeletons fell into the chasm that had been pulled open by Lorrick. The skeletons slowly piled up at the edge of the fissure line unsure what to do. " Fire at will! " Lorrick commanded. Volleys of flame lit arrows began raining down upon the skeletons.
" That should keep them at bay for now. The skeletons we won't have to worry much about, its those rock demons that will be problematic. We can't let them get to the wall. I need you to go to the ground lure them close enough for me to dispatch them individually. Don't worry about the skeleton we will keep you safe from up here... Now go! " Lorrick requested to Abriel. He turned back to pulse a few bolts of red lighting into the skeleton and watched as they exploded into dust.
Abriel watched in the distance as the rock demons got closer to the edge of the chasm. One had wielded a large boulder that it held over its head as if ready to throw. Lorrick spied this quickly and Abriel watched as the green and red gem lit up and lorrick made a gesture which caused the boulder to crack and explode molten lava from it which spilled on the demon incapacitating it. Lorrick turned back to Abriel "GO NOW! " He shouted. Abriel headed down the steps on the wall reaching the courtyard. Shiver followed close behind him. Once Abriel approched the gate a guard opened it for him. Abriel unsheathed his sword and ran through the gate and made his way toward the fissure that Lorrick had created. As Abriel got to the edge he hesitated momentarily and was unsure if he could jump the distance. suddenly flat shaped rocks began to assemble in front of him forming a sort of land bridge for him to get across. Abriel peered up to see Lorrick nodding to Abriel. Abriel and Shiver ran across the land bridge. The skeletons around them exploded into dust. It wasnt long until he came face to face with one of the rock demons. It towered over Abriel. Abriel estimated it was the twice if not thrice his size. It took a step forward and the ground around them quaked slightly. Abriel noticed a strange irregularity on its left side of the chest. The rock there looked brittle and deteriorated. Shiver barked at the demon as an iridescent shimmer ran along its coat an Shiver disappeared from sight. The demons hands were over its head and Abriel slowly backed way bracing his sword in front of him. The demon then slammed his fists into the earth violently shaking the ground. Abriel lept backward narrowly avoiding the assault and braced and balanced himself for a riposte. Abriel charged under the demon heading straight along its left side. Running just under he lept up slightly and slashed his sword and the brittle area of its chest. Chunks of stone were ripped from it's chest as a black oil spilled out from it and the creature reeled back in intense pain. Abriel backed away slowly from the suffering demon. He turned quickly to Eulalia who was still making short work of the shades above. Turning back to the demon he could see vines from the earth quickly wrapping around it ensnaring the demon. The vines wrapped around its legs, and then at its hands and pulled the demon to the ground.
" Its Neck! Strike the back of its neck! " He could hear Lorrick faintly from the wall. Abriel jumped up to the creature running along its back to where its exposed neck was. It looked similar to the chest area Abriel had struck. He raised his sword and plunged it deep into its neck. It writhed in immense pain for a moment and then stopped. It became motionless and then its body began to crack. Abriel lept from it to the ground and watched as it turned into rubble and loose stone. " Well that was easy... " he jested. " Five more to go.. " He said uneasily.

...now, I've been crazy, couldn't you tell? I threw stones at the stars but the whole sky fell...
┏━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━┓
Xi stood still a very, very long time, his wife's voice ringing out behind him. What Raluca said rang true--or it might have, were Saith in her right mind.
Was she? He wasn't so certain. Unease prickled through his skin as he blocked out the sound of his sister's voice and instead, absorbed her. He wasn't one to rely entirely on instinct--oh no, that was what got him in trouble--but sometimes it helped. Now was one of those times. He no more trusted that Saith would make these choices than the man in the moon.
Firstly, she was no new recruit. Saith had fought in wars before. She was a relatively seasoned veteran, in fact, barely a stranger to combat. He'd expected a great deal of analysis from her, if not a much better strategy. He knew she couldn't pass the barrier. There was only one way: back out of the city the way she came. But it was hardly her only option.
Instead, she was practically spilling a plan to him. She even dropped her sword. Now that--that was the surest sign he had that she was not herself. Quietly, he reached a foot past the barrier and kicked it behind him, the hilt rattling duly on the cobblestones. And then there was the last thing, that odd light, and the poison running through her.
No, this wasn't Saith. She was much smarter than this.
"She's not in her right mind, dear." He announced at last. "Something else is wrong, though I haven't an idea what. My other sister would know."
That still left him with a very much aggravated Saith in his face, her nose entirely too close. He dipped his head back behind the barrier where she could not follow any closer. "I'll ask Eulalia for confirmation of that. As it stands, you will not pass. You know this. I know this. In fact--" He angled his head ever so slightly toward his wife. "My dear, would you be so kind as to make sure my sister doesn't go anywhere?"

Saith barely noticed the hoofbeats of the horse carrying the Haylian commander and Queen approaching, but the sudden flare of pain and spasming muscles broke her focus. Her breath was stolen in a pained gasp and she shrinked back from Xi, retreating a step. Mocking words came from the Queen that allied herself with Xi, Saith's lips parting slightly as her jaw clenched. Her breaths came in hisses as it felt as though her arms were going to split apart at any moment. The words that came from the injured Queen battled against everything that she knew. "Bound to the Prince of Verein?!" she repeated incredulously, enraged, honing in on that part. Just who did they think she was? Such a thing was impossible; she would never stoop so low as to have such a demoralizing thing occur. Her anger mixed with the increased pain, her heart hammered in her chest.
Eul's response rattled in her mind, adding another layer to the impossible. ... We have conquered Soren and Verein...? perhaps that was what she meant, that would make the most sense. Surely not that each of them had somehow been bound to the pitiful humans?
Xi spoke and claimed as if something was wrong with her before sliding behind the barrier of his death. Her eyes blazed with emotions tracking her brother and his 'dear'. Her limited options ran through her mind. "Do you wish to die Queen?" she immediately threatened back to the royal human about restraining her. "We are harbingers of death; life is out of our domain," nodding her head to her brother as proof was before her. Her free hand raised up and a concentrated shard of shimmering, shielding energy was being rolled back and forth with her knuckles. Her dark green tainted fingers had uncontrollable twitches as she was finally able to siphon the pain and anger into rage. A giggle forced it's way past her lips as they stretched into a wide grin showing her fangs.
This was sure to press at Xi's buttons with how apparently invested he was with the human; a hostage. Huh, first time for everything. Her hand clenched into a fist then she flicked one, two fingers towards Raluca; nearly instantaneously slicing apart two stones in front of her feet. His barrier could do nothing against this extension of will. Another shard traveled over her knuckles. If Saith was to die here today then she would take the duo with her as well. "Would you slay me, for her?" she asked as her head tilted to the side and the piercing was free to swing in the air. "Could you live with that choice?" her voice had once more morphed into one of teasing. Her own soul was far beyond any redemption with the acts she had committed.
A voice of deep, rolling thunder whispered in her mind All shall bow before you... Saith nodded and raised her sword. Again the voice came as an earthquake, commanding her MAKE THEM! The unknown speaker laced promises of power, of greatness, of an unending, eternal war - and she would be its champion. A shiver ran from her head to toes and she gripped her zweihander with both hands, sinking into a light crouch like a feline about to pounce. Springing forward, she entered straight into the miasma of entropy, swinging her blade towards Xi with murderous intent. Darkness radiated from her: a gift of power from a being far greater than anything on this world. The effects of her brothers aura was slowed considerably but she could already feel her skin starting to wither and would soon crack open like a desert plain. Pay the cost of greatness...

Raluca watched in silence as the siblings stood for a long moment with noses barely inches apart. Her jaw had clenched with irritation and annoyance, eyes trailing along the pale haired demon princess. Finally, Xianious spoke claiming that something was wrong with Saith. Has she finally snapped? The rumors of the murderous Princess of Vale flooded through her mind in an instant as she watched her. She was called a war machine, a murderer, that her hatred of humans would be the end of them, that she would be the one to break the contracts. Her mind raced to think of the well being of the Prince of Verein. Was he still alive? Maybe she had already done away with him and that was why she was here, they were the closest kingdom after all. The queen watched as her beloved dipped his head behind the wall of death, speaking of his sister Eulalia once more. Upon hearing the request to restrain his sister, she had to fight the urge to grin. Her mouth was opened to reply, but before any words could leave her mouth the demon princess threatened her with death. Raluca scowled, pursing her lips upon hearing Saith's claim. It was true, after all.
Her morganite hues trailed back to the black aura that surrounded Xi when Saith nodded towards it. If his essence took life, there was no telling what his siblings could do. She didn't even know what Saith was capable of, having no knowledge of her abilities. The second she returned her attention to the princess she saw a sudden flash shoot towards her. Raluca barely managed to take a step back before it struck a rock at her feet, slicing it in two. Shards had shot from the rock, slicing at her already bloodied legs. Before the woman could react, the pale haired princess suddenly shot herself into Xi's aura and attacked. No.. Her heart sank as the sword swung at her husband, a hand quickly raising in an attempt to block it with a vine but the aura quickly turned it to ash. Xi appeared to have dodged, but she couldn't see if the sword had managed to cut him. The seconds it took to helplessly watch the attack she could see that Saith was not quickly affected by the wall of death. Anything would have turned to ash immediately, but for some reason she did not. Was she somehow immune? She had been avoiding it and being extremely cautious before... but this..
Raluca's eyes met with Saith's as she realized her intent was to get to her, not Xianious. That maddening grin that spread her lips was almost embedded into her head, leaving her to huff in frustration. Saith seemed to linger within the aura, a hand sliding out from the black before returning, followed by a foot exiting. The queen took this chance and quickly stepped forward, shooting a hand towards the foot before it slid back. A blackened vine sprouted from the earth inches from Saith's foot and wrapped around her ankle, yanking her out of the wall. Before she had a chance to slice away the vine with her zweihander, another vine followed suit and wrapped around her wrists, tightening and forcing her to drop her weapon. She appeared to be weakened and injured, giving Raluca a slight advantage. Her hand raised, the vine that was wrapped around her ankle raising higher and higher leaving Saith to dangle upside down. The vine extended and slid around her ankle like a snake, finding her other ankle and tightly wrapping around it as well. Saith had been captured, but for how long had begun to be the big question. The queen begun to pant as she had earlier, hands lowering after making sure the vines were secure.
She fell to her knees, a hand pressing to the ground to prevent her from collapsing further. Raluca sat up slowly, looking up to the captured princess before she looked to her husband. Her head turned to the Commander just before she heard an all too familiar screech. Looking in the direction it had come from, she spotted a Laureltian hawk swooping down towards her. A hand covered her face as another raised, causing a small withered tree to quickly sprout and provide a thick enough branch for it to perch. The hawk circled before it flapped its wings and landed on the branch, those beady golden hues staring at her. Trusting that Saith would remain within the binds of the vines the Queen slowly stood and approached the hawk, reaching towards the protective pouch strapped to its chest. She opened it and pulled out the letter, quickly reading it over. No doubt it had been sent from the newly crowned Queen Victoria, offering she and her people a safe haven. Was Laurelt not under attack as well? Raluca looked to Commander Yeshaya, rolling the note up and tossing it to her. Please have a mage send a response, their crystals are quicker than a bird... inform the Queen that Hayle has been attacked and barricaded by these strange demons. We cannot accept her offer. Do not mention the Valen Princess.
Raluca glanced back at the hawk who was now eyeing her hair, a hand hesitantly pressing against its head, covering its eyes. This same hawk for some reason had always wanted to turn her hair into a nest, and right now she really didn't have the energy to deal with it. The bird remained still for a moment before it nipped at her palm, drawing a small amount of blood. Removing her hand she stepped away before a knee gave out on her causing her to slip onto her rear. She looked to the Laureltian hawk with furrowed brows, silently cursing it. The hawk's gaze seemed keen on her hair, lowering its body as if readying itself to swoop down at her again.
