Ahh, we made it to dawn, not breathing for long,
What side of The Moment are you on?
I'm anxious, I'm calm and I'm certain as hell,
But I know The Moment will break the spell

((So sorry, i've just finished 7 days of work D smile )

"If not, all of your burden, would that suffice?" Zeal asked as if matter of fact, not really giving it much thought before he asked. She then asked the question of... how? It only took Zeal a few moments before words trailed off his tongue. "Share them with me, I can listen. Or if not... I can protect you if you yearn to travel farther, to sell more wares, to get more material or inspiration for your silk." Zeal paused, as if waiting for another response. He felt as though her reply should be positive, he offered her protection and promise to continue her job, if not further it and reach out to new customers. This is what she wanted, wasn't it? "You said you should be grateful for your place in this life. Why don't you do more with it? If you have been given a chance then you should not stop. Adrestia wrote that life was filled with walls. You cannot always go over it, so you must go through it." Zeal found himself accidentally citing from the 5th Scripture of Adrestia - Insurgence.

We're the orphans of a fate where everybody dies
And that's exactly why I have to fight with all my life, oh
And you can believe in theories all you want,
But I will find a life, where none of them apply to me

And the day is still young, there's so much that we can see,
The light of The Moment shines through to me
It's time to break free, from the ties that keep us trapped,
We'll head to The Moment, never look back

Come over here and let me tell you something
Nothing ever comes of nothing
We pay a price for all our choices made

Her eyes widened a little as he suggested a willingness to take all of her burden, if not a portion of it. And to her second question, after thoughtful silence, he asked her to speak of them. He would protect her. He would travel with her.

He was willing to do this? Travel with her? Knowing.. he must have known what she was by now. But knowing it and seeing it must have been two different things. Wouldn't it?

She slowly moved the bag with her wares over her shoulder so that her arms and hands were free. She had been taught a few small things about how to share her strength with him. The process was simple. It would give him of her magical stores, granting him access to strength, power, with the understanding that he would protect her. Once this process had begun, however, she could not close it of her own will.

She flattened her hands, letting the palms face the sky overhead. Did she want to explore..? She did. If she lent him her power, he could continue to protect her. Then, the understanding was that they would be depending on each other. Wasn't it?

She looked for his eyes. It was easier to see them in the shade of the alleyway. Almost gold.

"To accept... means that my life will be placed in your hands." She bit her lip. "If you are trustworthy... take my hands. We shall see how far we are able to travel."

Come along now and take my hand
I'll lead you to a promised land
The morning after it may never come again

Never be the same.

OoC: Long days of work! I hope you enjoy what break you get. And welcome back. :]

He saw her look at him, as if peering into him, looking for another answer. Was she investigating him? Of coarse she was, he was asking a lot of her. He was asking for a bond to be made, a bond that only he could break. So if she was unhappy she would have to bare but another burden. Zeal nodded subtly to her first statement, his lips barely parting as he did. Then Quela gave her confirmation... and it made Zeal's head raise back up proudly. His lips parted before he closed them again and swallowed. Zeal stepped forwards, ignoring the world around him, and without hesitation he took her hands. "And my hands... are in your gloves. Do you trust yourself?" Zeal felt the air around them change, as if something was gathering around them. Was this the bond that he had read about, was there going to be a chill, a heatwave, a clap of thunder or a even a glow? He was not sure, some bonds were different, and not many scrolls in the Catacombs he lived in spoke about the bonds between Knight and Mage. He stared intently into her eyes with his, and waited without even an ounce of suspense.

She felt his hands as he took hers. His words were steady, confident. It was at her whim to extend her power forward, so it had not happened the moment he took her hands. No, she studied a moment more. He reminded her of her work. The gloves he was proud of. Was he similarly proud of this arrangement? Or was this a statement already suggesting that their ability to work together came full circle?

She wrapped her fingers around his and she allowed her magic to gather at her core. Then, as though this was a trap, the energy leapt forward and from her to the knight she directed it to. This energy pierced his and enveloped it, wrapping it up its connection as easily as a supportive thread was secured to a limb.

Her energy did not burn, nor was there a chill to it. There was a strangely steadfast and flexible feel about it, like the cotton of an orb-spinner's web. It formed easily, and the transition was smooth. However, unlike many spells, which were explosive and faded about as quickly as cast, this energy lingered. She became very keenly aware of the output, and how readily his form took in the new strength. How would her magic manifest through him? Would he see the webs connecting them, that she now saw?

At the end of the change, all that was left seemed like a soft heartbeat in the energy. She did not release his hand. Instead, she waited.

Come along now and take my hand
I'll lead you to a promised land
The morning after it may never come again

Never be the same.

Zeal felt his chest tighten as the rush of energy flowed through him. It was her aura, her mana, her power filling his veins with a curious sensation. His eyes trailed over her hands, over her arms and down to his own as he attempted to envision exactly what it was that was taking over him. It wrapped around him like fine cloth and he felt his body absorb it. He looked back up to her as the energy began to subside, but it lingered. He could only describe as a ghost watching over his shoulder, never gone, never in his mind, just always watching. Zeal blinked blinked again, as if something was glazing over his eyes. He did not panic when he began to see the faint lines of magic between their bodies. It was like someone pushed a needle and thread through them, fine strings erupting from their bodies, like two pieces of fabric being loosely held together. He blinked again and it was gone.

Zeal wasn't sure how to feel, and normally he was okay with that. When a child would cry, he could understand that it meant distress, or joy, but he would not be able to relate personally. Now he felt something, he did not know what it was and it perplexed him. His eyes slowly looked up into hers and he asked "I feel... you?" he then gently pulled his hands away and tilted his head to the side like a curious poppy, his white hair brushing over his cheek. "I still... feel you" he said again, still feeling her power within him, even without holding her hands anymore. "Do you feel me?"

She felt his hands withdraw, but yes... as the energy he took with him moved, she detected that it would be stable no matter his distance for as long as he continued to accept and use the energy as per the seal between them and their bond. She folded her hands and studied him. Her eyes weren't the best, but because of their bond, she doubted she could lose him, whether he was in a crowd or afar off.

She smiled and nodded to his question. "I do."

As she sifted through the feelings, and the feedback from the invisible threads that connected them, she could feel the change in his detection. He was adapting to something that was strange to him. The puzzlement was real, to this sensation like curiosity... and the barest hint of apprehension.

But from him, she sensed a duty, determination... a drive that felt like comfortable companion to camaraderie, to friendship. He would honor this bind between them. Her fear concerning him eased considerably. Now, they need only to adjust to this feeling and mutual sharing of power.

"I will travel alongside you, Zeal, whether it is close or into the uncharted lands." She watched his face as best as she could. "But... perhaps we can rest first. We can return to my home, to Yamasato, to build up supplies and to rest."

She offered a hand to him again. Whenever he felt ready, she would walk with him back to her home. Today, things had changed. "Do you have questions?"

Come along now and take my hand
I'll lead you to a promised land
The morning after it may never come again
