{ ATE : Project PHOENIX ~ Renewal : 27 } { Day 8 : Mid-Afternoon } { Adam ; Daj : The World That Never Was : Brink of Despair }
"Uh, like... your powers. Abilities. Uh?" they said, looking to Adam for help.
"I don't think he actually went through the whole process like the rest of them," Adam said, crossing his arms and giving the Broker a raised brow. "Don't look at me, explain."
"So, your average person has to dedicate their lives to learning and training themselves--"
"He's not stupid!"
"AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH."
The Broker recoiled slightly and grabbed at their head with both hands as if to have a freak-out. After a second, they recomposed and continued as if nothing had happened.
"The Earthlings, like those chosen to wield keyblades, are granted unique gifts of power through the manifestation of their hearts' unique strengths. However it may have occurred, it helped jumpstart them to being prepared for this universe's struggles," they explained. "Typically, they form heartbound weapons and a set of abilities that match various professions throughout the cosmos. I can catalyze the same process, along with granting you some other gifts, for a price. So what I meant, effectively, was if you had a specific weapon or set of skills in mind, or if you wanted the unconscious facets of your heart to decide what's best?"

"The price is something of immense value, without any worth whatsoever," they said, lowering their head solemnly for a moment before continuing. "More specifically, it's vast potential that you wouldn't have had to begin with: genie wishes."
"The main way I'm able to enact a lot of my gifts is through the cosmic power of a djinn. However, obviously, there is a limit: only three per master. Except, as with most rules, there was a loophole: though I could only begin with three, there was no rule stating that people could not willingly forfeit their wishes over to me," they said. "So the price is that you forfeit over the three wishes you would have had with this genie over to me, and I use at least one of them to fulfill my end of the bargain--in this case, granting you heart-manifest power."
"Of course, this isn't all you'll be receiving; I'm attempting to supply a rebellion, after all. As part of this deal, I also offer a vast umbrella immunity to most hexes and combat ailments, the ability to travel great distances without the aid of darkness, a boon to make your essence unidentifiable so that you may never be known or singled out magically through disguises, and the ability to control various forms of minion without stain upon your heart--Heartless, Nobody, and Unversed," they continued. "However, these gifts have the slight catch that, should you ever purposefully aid the Darkness' cause, they will be revoked."
"It's a lot to consider," they said, nodding again. "And I understand any lack of trust you might have. Take your time, and feel free to ask questions."

{ ATE : Project PHOENIX ~ Renewal : 33 } { Day 8 : Mid-Afternoon } { Adam ; Daj ; Broker : The World That Never Was : Brink of Despair }
The Broker gave an amused hmm in response, their hooded gaze turning toward Adam.
"That was already on the table, funnily enough," Adam said. "Just not from them; I have crystals of both light and dark magic, for protection and power respectively. The light ones, aethecite, shield the heart from influence, particularly against dark sources."
"He's proven to be a resourceful asset, if a bit needy," they mused, turning back to Faust.
They held up their right hand casually, hand and fingers curved in the air as if to holding a staff or chalice. As they did so, a thin strand of light, lit by colors across the spectrum shifting along its length, began to weave up from some arbitrary spot near their elbow, around the forearm, before finally coalescing within the space of their curled hand.
"You have my word and oath that these gifts and powers I will bestow upon you as a part of the following transaction are yours to keep, beholden to no one, so long as you never consciously and purposefully aid the allies of Xehanort in their conquest of existence and their goal of extinguishing the light. Should such occur, measured by your intent, then will I know and strip you of them. Do you agree to these terms?"

{ ATE : Project PHOENIX ~ Renewal : 35 } { Day 8 : Mid-Afternoon } { Adam ; Daj ; Broker : The World That Never Was : Brink of Despair }
As if the mere word had been a catalyst, the coalescence glimmered brighter, a strand of light flying forth to weave around Faust's form for the briefest of moments before settling and vanishing.
"The bargain is struck," they said, lowering their arm to reach into their other sleeve, pulling out a fine Arabian oil bottle. "With your transfer of wishes, I'll catalyze your progress, give you the rest, and Adam here will finish things off."
————— Faust was hesitant, or perhaps more accurately, cautious; though it was power he may never personally acquire, the weight of a genie's wish, let alone three, was worth every second of consideration.
In the end, it was a combination of his own precise wording and Adam's vouching for the entity that led to Faust finally accepting the deal some minutes later.
The deed done, the Broker blew at the bottle's opening, and green dust whisked out, enveloping the nascent man in a swirling emerald storm; moments later, he seemed to transition seemlessly down into a gleaming Station of Awakening, where his gifts were realized.
Upon waking, he found himself down on one knee, as if he'd unconsciously caught himself while falling. Then did he receive the rest of his purchase: a shimmering potion in a thin vial that granted him the four gifts of the Broker; a shard of faceted blue manufacted nethicite for power; a shard of smooth pearl manufacted æthecite for protection; and rugged shard of raw, multicolored auracite, pure mist condensed, that was designed to remain coalesced as it was consumed into the heart, where the dress sphere's magic would catalyze it into a summon.
And so, once more strong, newly upon his own two feet, Faust was ready to seek his answers.
————— The Broker departed after handing off their vial of power, merely waving and disappearing without pomp or circumstance--one moment there, the next gone. That left Adam and Faust alone at the foot of the ascending bridge.
"And in case I wasn't clear before," Adam said, running a hand through his hair, "you owe me nothing. I just wanted to give you a proper chance at life. What you do now is totally your own choice."
