Sword Art Online: A New Beginning

Eve's breath came in short, fast bursts as she glared at the man.

"What our intentions are aren't really any of your business are they?" She all but hissed.

I can't imagine you are looking to join them either as you defended that weakling pker earlier."

The young girls eyes burned with anger as she glared at the man.

The man scoffed and looked at Eve with cold eyes.

“I defended no one. All I did was seize on an opening. I would have killed him as soon as I was done with you had you not taken care of it for me. Now…” He raised his sword once again in a defensive stance. “I’ll ask again. Is it or is it not your intention to join the Heaven Spire guild?”

Eve narrowed her eyes.

"It's none of your dang business why we are out here."

Eve barely finished her sentence before she once again leapt forward, unleashing a blinding flurry of slashes at the strange man. with each strike she ensured she always had one blade closer to her body to defend herself should her opponent manage a counter.

The man easily side stepped the attacks, always managing to stay one moment ahead of the young girl.

"This competition is to allow those that wish to join the Heaven Spire guild to prove themselves worthy. It’s not a place for kids like you to come and get their kicks killing other players.” His voice jostled slightly as he continued to avoid her attacks.

"That's rich coming from a guy who, from what you have said, is out here for that very reason." The young girl all but hissed.

"For your information I have every intention of retrieving that boss drop and bringing it back to town. So if you aren't going to help me, then get the hell out of my way!"

As eve finished her sentence, she dove to the side, swiping her blade in unison, on aimed at the mans knee, the other at his ribs, while simultaneously moving herself clear for kaiyaga's shot.

The man spun with Eve, always keeping her in between himself and Kaiyaga. Turning his long sword underhand, he easily blocked both of her attacks. His skill was incredible, and he seemed to not even be struggling to keep up with her movements.

Eve swung both her blades outward, aiming as though she intended to strike her opponents head but instead of connecting, the young girl leapt back gaining distance from the man.

"Kaiyaga! NOW! KILL HIM!!" She shouted.

The man spun with wild intensity, but the strategy appeared to have caught him off guard. The arrow collided with him just before he was able to escape its range. It exploded with a powerful impact, sending the man wreathing on the ground. His health dropped like a stone, though surprisingly, he was still alive. Whoever this was, he wasn’t just an average, run of the mill player.

“Even with two on one you still failed to kill me? You don’t deserve to join the Heaven Spire Guild!” His tone was exasperated and savage, and he lurched forward, grabbing his side in pain. “You are not worthy!”

“Geez, you’re a pain.” Kaiyaga walked up and but his boot to the kneeling man’s head. “Would you like to do the honors, or should I?” He cast a mischievous glance to Eve as he spoke.

Eve shook her head, sliding her blades into their sheaths.

"You kill him. Just so long as he's dead. Freaking loud mouth." Eve said, looking bitterly at the fallen man.

The man began thrashing wildly, attempting to crawl his way out from under Kaiyaga’s boot.

“You are not worthy to join the Heaven Spire guild. You deserve only to…” Before he was able to even finish speaking, Kaiyaga drew his bow back and buried an arrow square in the man’s head. The body fell limp for a moment before vanishing in a torrent of light shards.

Around them, the battle raged on. Players were desperately trying to kill one another in order to get the first shot at the monster as soon as it appeared.

“So, that’s how Heaven Spire is going to play it, huh?” Kaiayaga’s voice, though quiet, somehow carried over the din of the battle, allowing Even to hear it.

Eve stared at the ground in silence, her hands gripping her short swords tightly.
The young girls face was a blank, devoid of any emotion despite their victory.

As Kaiayaga's words reached she simply nodded, remaining where she was.

Kaiyaga looked up at Eve. His eyes were stern, and his voice was suddenly very serious.

“We need to be careful, Eve. This guy… he was a part of Heaven Spire. Looks like Alexander’s got his own thugs out here thinning the herd.”

The young teen looked up, speaking at last.

"How do you know he was from Heaven Spire?" She asked, her tone confused as she stared at the tall teen across from her.  

[Mega90]

Kaiyaga rubbed the back of his head and looked to the ragging battle to their side.

“I did some work for Heaven Spire a while back, and he was hanging around the guild hall.”  

[Zarkon90]

Eve scoffed, shaking her head.

"You really will work for anyone won't you? Even losers like them. I thought you had more honor then that but I suppose not." The young girl spun on her heel, facing her back toward the taller teen.

"I suppose I shouldn't be surprised, a guild like Heaven's Spire wouldn't let just anyone in after all. Only makes sense to send the hounds out to chase the scampering rabbits. Keeps your ranks tight then."

Eve shook her head in disgust, muttering to herself.

"This is the kind of thing Master Shiro fights against. Pointless murder for the amusement of others."
