While the rest of the world complained about a dry season, a lack of food, or the fact that it was so very dull at whatever time of the year it might be... A certain leopard was more than content to point out that he was most assuredly in a position that was far more advantageous than their own. Admittedly, it was so advantageous that he couldn't quite grasp why anyone hadn't decided that it was such an excellent quality of life that they too, deserved to participate in what it had to offer.
Suffice it to say that Calder was baffled by the nature of some of those that lived in the Savannah, and he vaguely recalled that at some point he had promised he would explore this phenomenon in greater detail. Alas, procrastinating was one of his many strengths, and years had passed since he had made that promise and the closet he had gotten to explore was the odd 'ruin' or two.
His mother would be proud of him.
No, really, there could be little doubt that his lazy mother would have been proud that her son was enjoying some of the hedonistic life style, even if he hadn't embraced quite as much of it as she had.
Today was of no exception for him, as he lay on his back and examined his tail as though it held the answer to one of life's many great questions...

"It insulted my mother," he declared dramatically and released it from his grasp; his paws then fell, with a delicate 'thump' against the rocks he was reclining on. He then inspected the interloper more closely, tilting his head back to admire the approaching lion. Tall, dark, handsome and standing out rather strikingly in his jungle - ah, but he could positively hear the swooning that would result from his presence from here. There would be many a gusty sigh and fanned paw, and probably some invitations too.
"So I figured I would have a talk with it, let it know what's what and how wildly inappropriate it is to make such base accusations," he continued with his charade for a moment longer and then chuckled. With a mild 'argh' he rolled on to his stomach and gave a mild stretch, finally resting his chin on his paw. If Areo had ever frightened another individual with his presence, it would be in striking comparison to the leopard who seemed entirely at ease.
...It was a quality given to him by his mother.
"They can just be so rude sometimes, I'm sure you can relate," he said and nodded to the male's tail. "But what brings you in to my jungle, hm? We don't get many of your sort this far out of the way."

"I can get behind that," Calder smiled, truth be told he wasn't quite as lazy as his mother but he had never been struck with wanderlust either. He enjoyed conversing with those who passed through and learned a great deal from them in the process, but he was more than happy to remain at home. He was a 'busy body' here, involving himself in the running of this particular area of the jungle but beyond that...
"There aren't any in this immediate vicinity," he added after a moment and then shook his head. "But based on the number of travellers that do wander through I would imagine that this is a thoroughfare, or nearby is anyway," he clucked his tongue. Each and every one of them had looked different so he could only assume there were prides somewhere nearby.
"Your meandering paws are likely to find you another place to explore fairly soon I imagine," he mused and then glanced over his shoulder. "If it's of any use to you I knew of one who pushed straight through here and out towards the other side. They seemed fairly determined to go that way so there must be something over there?"
...What that location was remained to be seen, Calder hadn't thought to ask, he'd merely observed the lion who had been in a bit of a hurry!
