"Yes, that's it!" she said happily when McManus understood what she was looking for. Her glee disappeared when he told her his method though.

For the seventh time that day, Liza reeled in her pride and took a deep breath, "well if that way works, then I guess I could try," she muttered, averting her gaze.

" The bright side is no cliff, and the weights start out so insignificant you won't notice them in your everyday routine or you can do five hundred pushups and jumping jacks every 12 hours, which is easier?" He said with a smile as he sat down for a moment and stretched his arms.

The witch scrunched up her nose, "Uh, the push ups and jumping jacks sound gross, so no thanks!" she huffed, "I might actually sweat!" Fanning herself in exasperation, she finally relented. "OK, fine I'll take the weights. Do you have any for me?"

This was turning out much better than she initially expected, but also much worse. What if the weights clashed with her clothes?? What if they dropped into her salad? The possibilities were endless and Liza just knew she'd encounter all of them on this ridiculous training regime.

" Well I might have exaggerated a bit but here you go." He tossed Liza a box and stood up. " These are enchanted bracelets and anklets, though stylish they look perfectly normal and shouldn't clash with any of your clothing choices it'll sense your energy and strength and apply the correct amount of weight.... what do you think?"

Liza's jaw dropped as she caught the box. She opened it up and took out the bracelet weight things and nearly glowed in feminine appreciation. "Uh, I think fabulous!" she squealed as she put them on. She took a while to admire herself before turning to McManus and clearing her throat.

"Um, thanks," she said awkwardly, "for all of this. Is there someway I can repay you?"

Tough times.. well, obviously! Since when were there peaceful times?! the witch thought bitterly. Her world was being split apart by a war, and now Earth, the only place she thought she could escape all the carnage, was about to enter one too. She was so done with war, so completely done.

But.. Marnie tried to save her from that. Spirits that made a contract were typically protected by their Summoners no matter what, and Liza knew that she had to do her part to protect her Summoner too.

"Thank you," she repeated, more genuinely this time, "can I come back tomorrow for another lesson?"

Booker was troubled The mass deaths didn't feel right to him, he knew is wasn't natural his instincts told him that much, he wanted answers and needed them. he did not like being left in the dark and treated like a child. " What were they thinking, throwing students into this.... Damnit." He said as he paced the room talking to himself, he didn't know if anyone was going to show up.
