[PRP] Need something? (Roc & Orchid; Generosity) [Fin]

Chocolate Orchid was beaming from ear to ear as he trotted down the street, his saddle bags bursting with baked goods. He had been experimenting in the kitchen earlier with a new kind of cupcake and chocolate and for once, they hadn't came out looking awful! Even better, the chocolate he had prepared to top them was spectacular, little dainty white chocolate daisy wreaths that topped the lilac buttercream frosting and complimented the color beautifully. It was his best creation so far, something Orchid had been so proud of he didn't want to part with it and took it with him as he looked for somephony he knew to tell them about what he had made.
Excitedly he looked around to see if there was anyone around he knew, not paying very close attention to anything else that could be around him.

"It's no good, pops," Roc said putting a bag of ice over his dad's head. "You're out for the count."

"B-but," Cherpumple replied as his son shoved a spoonful of chicken soup into his mouth. "Mmf!"

"Take it easy, pops. I'll do what I can to get that last order for the week done."

"But you've never baked," Cherpumple said. "If you have, you do it so secretly even the ninjas are envious!"

"It's okay, old man, you just get some rest and I'll go out and see what I can find. It beats sitting here waiting," Roc said.

He pulled on his knapsack and went down the steps to the outside world. In all actuality, Roc never made anything more complex than breakfast cereal in his life. This was going to be tough.

Orchid should have probably been paying more attention when he was out in the streets, but his eye had been caught by a light colored phony that looked similar to his brother Rose and he had been staring a bit too much to see if it really was him. Only a few seconds after he realized it wasn't his brother did Orchid feel himself colliding with another Phony, sending him a few steps backwards. Immediately he turned towards who he had hit, saying "I-I'm sorry. I d-didn't mean to bump into y-you. Are you o-okay?" He frowned in concern, unsure what to do.

"Nah, bro, I'm okay," Roc snorted a laugh. "I've got extra padding on account of a dad that loves you with food."

Roc's nose did more seeing than his eyes, his hair had grown over his forehead and was quickly trying to take over the rest of his head. He smelled fresh baked cakes, bread, and that familiar sweet scent of powdered sugar and vanilla.

"Did you make those?"

Orchid laughed, knowing all too well the love of food crazy parents. "I u-understand, m-my mom runs a bakery. Sometimes she can g-go a little crazy." He studied the other phony, finding that he was seeing more hair than eyes on the purple pegasus. It made him smile, as Orchid's hair was growing out too though he had pinned his bangs back neatly. It was bad when hair got into the food he was making, so he was always careful to make sure it was out of the way. "H-Huh? Oh, yes! T-They're the best I've e-ever made!" He grinned, answering the question. "M-My name's Chocolate Orchid, w-what's yours?"

"Maybe your mom and my pops can get together and have a food coma together," Roc chuckled. "I'm Roc n' Rolls, I play guitar and I can't cook. My old man's sick, but someone placed an order for a birthday cake. I gotta find someone who'll make it for us, so I can deliver it. I got the cash in my pack."

"T-That sounds k-kinda scary." Orchid chuckled, already thinking of what his mama would make. Lots and lots of bread, of course and maybe some other things. His train of thought turned as he heard Roc n' Rolls problem, thinking about he problem. "T-That's unfortunate. When d-does the cake have t-to be delivered?" He asked, thinking that maybe he or mama could possibly help out with the problem.

"The paper pops wrote it on says 'Tues. 3pm'," Roc showed Orchid the scribbled note in the sloppy writing of his father. "That gives me one day to get it all set up and delivered. I gotta find someone willing to help me make a cake with seven candles and says 'Happy Birthday' on it. Can you make anything like that?"

Orchid frowned as he looked at the note, trying to think of a solution to help. That was not a lot of time to get a cake made and he knew his Mom was swamped with orders at the moment, leaving them with less options. "I c-can.. but i-it'll look like t-the cake was run o-over." Orchid answered apologetically, "T-These cupcakes a-are the first time I-I've had it look n-nice. B-But do you k-know of any other bakers? W-We might be able t-to convince them." There surely had to be more than just two phonies that were bakers, right?

"Bro," Roc said, looking at the goods Orchid was carrying. "Give yourself a little credit. You made all that and they look pretty rad to me. I've already got the box of candles and I'm pretty sure we both know how to spell 'Happy Birthday' to where it's can at least be read."

Roc looked at the order again.

"It doesn't even say what color it has to be, so we can just do something simple. If you can make a cupcake, just imagine a cake as a slightly larger cupcake with a little bit more icing."

A cupcake with more icing.. Orchid hesitated as an idea popped into his mind, the baked goods he had could be a replacement. But he hesitated for a minute, they were his best he'd made yet and he'd wanted to show everyone he knew them! Yet.. Roc needed his help and so Orchid spoke up and said "C-Could these cupcakes p-possibly work? I c-can frost them together to make a c-cupcake cake of s-sorts." He hoped that the idea would work anyways.

The idea hadn't occured to Roc before. Somewhere in his forest of hair, his eyes blinked slowly.

"A cake made out of tiny little cakes..." Roc felt as though his father would have really enjoyed that idea. "That's amazing, bro! I didn't even know that was possible. I'm sure we can make that work just fine."

On that day Roc learned just how generous even strangers could be in Phonyland. Here this perfect stranger came out of nowhere with goods that were probably never meant to be for anyone else and they offered them up, anyway. It was a good feeling and lesson he kept with him all the years to come. One day he hoped he could return the favor.
