There’s a strange, bright star over the Kawani lands. It’s a rare sight, and legend has it that the star can grant a few select Soquili a special wish. Head up to the top of the hill, place a small offering on the alter, and make your wish. Is it a wish for love, a child, a friend or even someone long lost? Think carefully about your wish, however, as you only get to make one!

1. This thread is only for posting your wish. Please don't chat or ask questions here in the thread. If you have a question, you can PM me.
2. Again, you may only make one "wish" from one of the categories listed in the next post
3. No skinwalkers, Ulun'suti, angeni, or mutants will be given out. Also, nothing over moderate edits. Please note all the wishes will give COLORIST CHOICE prizes. There is no guarantee of breed, edit level, or edits at all. While you may be able to influence the look of your prize a bit, the end result is completely up to the colorist.
4. Any soquili won/given out here is absolutely free, and will not count towards custom cooldown, breeding cooldown, etc. They do count as your July freebie.
5. When picking a wish, you must be wishing from the perspective of a soquili that you own. So, for example, for the "Miracle Baby" category wish, you must own at least one of the parents. Anyone, even if you do not own a soquili, can wish the final category wish, for "A True Friend."
6. When referring to another person's soquili for the Miracle Baby have them post in this special Permissions Thread
7. If your wish is granted, it is your choice to keep your prize, co-own it, or give it away to a friend for more interesting Roleplay possibilities. The point of this contest is to help people push along plots and find RP partners. While not required, if you win a Soq from this event we suggest giving it away to someone you want to RP with.
8. If you are making a "long lost family member" wish - the soquili making the wish must be 1st generation. Otherwise, it implies a breeding of one of the parents or other relatives that is likely owned by someone else and might interfere with their histories/backstories of their soquili and I do not want to potentially interfere with someone's existing involved family.
9. You may edit your post until closing. If you wish to change an entered couple please strike the previous post, and post the new couple in a new post.
10. YES! Both owners may post the same couple, but the couple may one win ONCE. The basket goes to the owner whom it was rolled under.

Miracle Baby This wish can be wished by either potential parent of a couple that can not normally have children via normal breeding slots. IE: gay/lesbian couples, species that cannot interbreed (Such as regular/usdia, regular/mer, seathi/usdia), or a couple whom one or both of the parents have already used their 3 breedings IF this couple has not already actually bred before with each other. If your wish is granted, the couple might find a special basket near the home one day. This ”baby” will follow all the rules of a customed family member, will not count against either parents breeding slots, and will be labeled as a gen 1 as it will not be a –genetic- baby of the couple, but a special gift from the Star. Therefore, it is possible that the breed may even be different than both of the parents, but it is ultimately the discretion of the colorists.

The mare's bells stopped ringing as she paused to look up at the bright star in the sky. "It seems so silly to wish on a star at my old age. I don't even know how to explain what I'm wishing for." Shaking her head she sighed. "These dreams, they are like memories from when I was a very young foal way up in the north where it always is a harsh and bitter winter. My mother was killed by wolves, but I see fragments of another in my dreams from before her death. Of another young foal like myself. I can't tell who it is. Maybe a sibling of mine? I don't know." Looking down at the ground, she shook her head again, the bells giving a soft chime. "I guess...I just wish that they exist. To know that I'm not the only one left. Don't get me wrong, I love Shihab and all of my children and grand children, but...it would be nice to know I'm not the last and that the great north didn't finish them all off." She plucked one of the small bells from her tail and placed it gently on the ground and walked away, returning home to her family.

Wrapped in a leather ribbon are carefully collected feathers from times when Akos was growing, some he lost playing, and one that was found in the ruins near where his basket had been hidden. Tied to the tails of the bow wrapping the feathers are gears, carefully polished to shine even under starlight.
Short IC Response: What does you soquili ask/tell the wishing star when he or she comes to ask to find their relative? Akos sighs as he looks up at the star. "I love my family. The ones who took me in, adopted me when I was still in my basket. Mother Aurora who loves me, father Dante who protects me, my sisters, Sunsong and Moonsong, who annoy me . . . but they're still good sisters. But . . . I wonder what my other family was like. The ones who died at the claws of a skinwalker. I . . . I know the dead can't come back, but maybe there's one who survived. Or . . . maybe an aunt or grandmother who has stories of my family. I don't know. I just know there's a missing piece in my life, not knowing where and who I come from. I will always love and be a part of my family, the ones who took me in and love me even though I wasn't theirs. The ones who saved me and protected me, who taught me to be strong. But some part of me will always wonder, long for that other family, that piece I don't know or understand. Please, I would like to find someone who was mine from birth."
Akos starts to turn, to leave the hill. But he stops and turns back. "I . . . even if the magic doesn't work . . . I'm grateful to whatever power might listen to the ramblings of a lost stallion. I'm strong. I will continue to be strong. I have a family and I know no end of love. I do not complain, I need that understood. I know I have already been blessed. But if there is family out there, someone who can tell me of my parents, of myself . . . I would like to meet them. Thank you."
This time, when he turns to walk away, Akos doesn't stop or look back.

Petrushka had always been someone who needed to be led -- she needed someone who she could rely on to help her function, to guide her. She used to have that with her Master -- she only knew him as that name, a two-legger from the caravan of storytellers who had passed by through these lands. She never knew what it was like to live on her own, to support and take care of herself. No one had ever taught her, leading her to develop dependency on others in order to survive. It was the only way to make sure she would never try to run away, after all. But now her Master was gone -- killed -- and Petrushka found herself alone and lost. Her Master had traded away her sister long ago, when they had both still been foals, and for the first time in a long time she wondered where she was or if she was alive (and sometimes, when she had that thought, she wasn't really sure she was thinking of her sister or of herself). Petrushka nosed the pile of offerings at her hooves before looking up at the rainbow stretched out across the sky. Maybe she could depend on it; maybe it would lead her to where she needed to be. "You will take me to my sister, yes? Maybe lead her to me? I need her, maybe she needs me, too," she said, nodding to herself. Yes, maybe her sister could use her. She could help, she could be useful -- gather materials for spells and rituals. She was good at that. She could kill things, too. Sometimes skulls and bones and blood needed to be fresh. Sometimes her Master wanted to eat meat. Yes, surely her sister needed her, too, and the bright colors in the sky would lead them to each other at long last.

Tell the wishing star a little about yourself: I have wandered and lived my life. I have seen and experienced much. I have had great joys and sadnesses in my life. I have learned from these experiences and I have grown. I would like to find my brother and daughter and make amends. I miss my family. I guess, one never knows what they have until it is gone. I have wandered near and far. I am lonely and would like to find a companion to travel with me.

She didn't really have anything of value to leave for the star. 'I don't really have anything I can give…' her voice trailed off as she realised she did have something, but it would tear her heart apart to leave it. It was all she had left to remind her of better times, it was her last connection to her brother. She wasn't sure if she could leave it, but wouldn't it be worth it if she finally got a friend, a companion, to help alleviate her loneliness. It was a worthy cause, even Giolladhe would recognise that. She carefully ducked her head to capture the beads of her necklace and pull it off cautiously, making sure it didn't break.
'Star, this is one of my greatest treasures.
It was given to me by my brother when I reached adulthood at my coming of age ceremony. It is a reminder of some of the happiest times of my life. It is all I have left of a relationship that I broke , possibly beyond all repair. I just… I wish I could have that type of relationship again. So please, accept this as a humble token of my wish. I thank you.' She bowed her head and sent her wish to the star and turned around and walked away.

What does your soquili leave as an offering for the wishing star? Kasim looked up at the star shining over the lands, ebbing with an almost palpable energy. It was a fortuous omen, and he apparently was not the only soquili that had reocgnized it as such, even in this strange land.
But nothing came without a price. Kasim was well aware of that. Breathing in a sigh, he nipped at the pouch he carried around his waist and some of the treasures he had acquired over the years - marks of both pride as well as shame from his life as a thief. Carefully, he plucked out a shining blue diamond - not large, but valuable. It wast clear and pale blue, like his eyes... and like the eyes of his mother that he barely remembered, and placed it on the large stone altar. He had kept it with him, when he could have sold or traded it many times when times were lean. But it had always reminded him of her - and helped him hold that fleeting ghost of a memory. But for the opportunity to finally meet Her.... that would be worth such a prize
Short IC Response:
"Fortune has been a stranger to me most of my life, but if it would be in your grace to hear me and my plea, Star, I will not forget this kindness. I barely knew my dam, a beautiful creature, a rare, dusky desert unicorn - a karkadann they called them in the lands that I am from. She was the prize of a sheikh, but I have heard the stories - that when I was born they could not bear my sight. I was a bad omen, and had spoiled his precious treasure - as surely she had bred with a shayatin - a demon, and it was written in my features and in my blood. They made her cast me out. Often I have wondered what my life would have been like had I grown by my mother's side, knowing kindness as a foal instead of the cruel mistress that was the desert. She was not like me - not a thief, not some dirty dog that was kicked. I never knew her love, and I have only the briefest memory of the mare - strong willed and beautiful, clear blue eyes. I know it is thanks to her that there is goodness in my heart.
I wish I could have known her or, at the very least, know her now. I wish to show her what I have made of my life... the beautiful mare - my lifemate, Durriyah - that saw the goodness in me, and our foals. I am a long way from home, but surely, star, with your magic, you could guide her here to me?
OOC note: This karkadann image inspired me way back as far as an idea for the "subspecies" that Kasim's mother was, but obv this wishing star is totally CC, and I would be tickled pink if I win and with whatever the colorist decides to interpret the character to be :3 - Kasim barely remembers his mom, so if you decide to go a different direction Kasim misremembered X3.

Anon was older now, and likely felt older than he truly was. The once proud care-free look he had, was now lackluster and worn. Time had not been kind to the stallion. He remembered when he first found the Kawani lands with his traveling partner, Kaim. Anon was young when he left his family, a small family that was torn between his a*****e kalona father, and his common... plain mother. He had a brother once, that he always had looked up to. He was just like his father, but only in looks.
Anon ran away from his broken home, one night in a fit of rage and tears after dealing with his abusive father and his mother who wouldnt defend herself. He soon hitched up with a stallion who was around the same age, but that was traveling to learn more of the world. Anon replaced his brother with Kaim, and never looked back.
Run as he would, Anon would never escape his own fate, and the older he got, the more he turned into his father. The first girl he met, he fell hard for. He mated with her, and soon she left him. His daughter from that encounter... his sons... he had no idea where they were. As the stallion stood on the hillside in the dark only lit by the dim stars, he tensed. Recalling these things from the past hurt more than he would like to admit. And for so long he always moved forward, trying to outrun the failure, the pain. his teeth grit and he continued his thoughts, recalling all of the memories. It was as if it were a silent prayer. His thoughts flashed to his loss, and how when he went to find Kaim again, the stinging feeling when he realized Kaim had found his own mate, and Anon was no longer 'needed'. Not that Kaim and he had ever talked about this, he just knew he would be in the way... that he was already replaced. Besides, they seemed happy... and his ego wouldnt let him admit his failure with his first love.
Time passed, and he met another along the way, she was just a fling.. he didnt even know her name. It was a random, drunken night, and all he remembered was pink.
The third...he cracked a cold smirk as his eyes closed behind his forelock. His third was a b***h. Kaim's daughter, it was ironic. Maybe it was to replace the friend who replaced his brother so long ago. She was twisted, lured him in, then stomped all over his heart and left him hanging. Why did she do it? Because it was fun.
Anon was left bitter, old and alone. Something he ran away from, or tried to. His head bowed as he finally spoke to the star others had spoken of that granted wishes.
"Im sorry. Forgive me. I have wasted my life, and I know I dont deserve a second chance... but I would like to see my brother please, if only once before Im gone."
His words trailed off, leaving a lump in his throat and he swallowed hard. He felt like a fool, an idiot for talking to himself. He didnt really expect an answer, he knew he didnt deserve one, but he didnt want to die alone. Not without saying he was sorry. Not without saying the goodbye he should have said so long ago.
(( Sorry if its long, and kind of scattered. I didnt want to make it horribly long with his entire story. This story isnt entirely made up, a lot of this did happen. Anon was always my favorite horse, even over Requiem. Sadly, his life never went as planned and this stems from my own regrets Ive had for him. Ive wanted to re-custom him, or make him a twin, idk, I wanted to save him somehow, but I havent figured out quite how to do that yet. Maybe I can find a redemption here for him. /end stupid sappy story))

The couple stood together in the dark night, both having grown comfortable in the shadows over the years of traveling and adventuring together. All those years, they had been trying to have children. In time, they did. Sadly, one sweet filly had been taken from them at such a young age. Their sons had mourned her loss, but like all young ones they move on so fast. Samual was having the hardest time, he had lost his princess that day.
He knew it wouldn't be the same, but still he set down a hair pen, one he had fashioned himself that shined in the moonlight. It had been an intended gift, one finished too late to be gifted. He looked to his mate, and could see the still fresh sadness in them as well. Then with a little smile he turned back up to the bright star, the one so many claimed granted wishes.
"We'd love to have another child to raise, one to protect and raise in our ways." He knew the child could never replace Meridah, but he knew it could help fill in that void. He wanted so badly to get things right again. Plus, he loved his mate and knew having children had been a bit startling for her at first, but now she loved being a mother more than anything else. And that says a lot about a professional thief.
He so badly wanted to wish for his daughter back, but he knew that she was lost to him now. On day, one day he knew he would see her again. But, until that day he'd remember he fondly and continue raising more children with his lovely mate.

Short IC Response:
Jasmine wasn't sure what had roused her from her slumber until her eyes had locked upon the shining star. She rose quietly, taking the utmost care as to not wake her sleeping companion. Her hooves led her to a clearing where the star shined down upon her form.
Her eyes shimmered with unshed tears. Her mother had told her stories of a star that granted wishes. It was one of her favorite stories to hear at night before she went to sleep. But now she was alone, save for her sleeping silent protector. She missed her family.
"Please... oh please, star. Give me my family back," she whispered, a lone tear trailing from her eye. "Please bring them back to me,"
Her mother had always told her to give if she wished to receive. As an offering, she delicately picked a flower from a nearby bush and shook a blue feather and piece of twine from her mane. Carefully placing them together in the light of the star, Jasmine stared up at the night sky and smiled.
(Note - ICly, Jasmine would not know of her brother's existence due to her parents keeping him and his disappearance a secret after she was born - which is why she just wishes for her general family back since they were slaughtered by a skinwalker along with her herd.)

Ophelia's tongue smoothed over her mouth, eyes dark in thought. "I have a… calling, for lack of a better term. A goal that most would find unfeasible. There are creatures in this world who would inflict pain to satisfy their own demented cravings, who actually enjoy the act of destruction. If no one else will step up to punish those who have done their fellows an ill turn, then I will lead the charge." A smile flickered across her face then, slight and self-deprecating in nature. "But I am not so full of pride and arrogance that I imagine I can accomplish this monumental task on my own. The cause requires those who are like-minded, individuals that can bring strength and swift justice to the fore. They will answer to their conscience first, and then to me, if they so choose."

There was a lengthy pause after her confession, and Ophelia peered inquisitively up into the night sky. Nothing had changed, but then, she had not expected that the stars would rearrange themselves for her benefit. Nonetheless, she nudged her offering forward with one hoof. It was a dark stone, rounded and unremarkable, save for the dark purple crystals peeking from its center. She had stumbled upon it during her travels, and something about the contrast of a plain exterior and a rich inner life had appealed to her. Now she left it, the cracked heart of it aimed upward to better drink in the starlight.
