History:Katya is the third child, the second daughter born to Jerriah, a woodcrafter and laborer, and Miska, a woman who had been in the Bakercraft but left after she married. They settled on Gaspar's Island from Calderra to raise their family and pursue a nice cothold for themselves. Jerriah is a rather talented crafter, able to carve very realistic creatures and decorative items. Her older brother, Aden moved out to work with the merchants and gain an apprenticeship with a trader caravan, her older sister Meeka went to Harper Hall in Lorus Hold because she was very good at singing and also drawing, and now it is just her & her younger brother, Nowah in the household.
Her childhood was a decent one. No death or drama for this young lady! When things were good, they were good. There were sweets, new clothing, and her father carving toys for her. Once, even a whole cake on her parents’ Espousal Day. When things were lean, and no one was buying, they just buckled down and lived on the land & their own hard work. Katya had fun being the apple of her father’s eye, taking the most after him and growing up with her siblings. Aden, the oldest at 25, doted on her a little bit too. She chased after her Mother and her sister’s skirt tales, wanting to be just like them. Being only 5 years younger than Meeka, she wanted to be and do everything her big sister did. And with only 18 months between her and Nowah, those two were thick as thieves, having fun playing pranks and creating their own little worlds. But she started to grow up and started questioning everything. Why did fellis grow here? Where did rain come from? If a tree falls in a forest and no one hears it… So her parents, pleased with her curiosity and cleverness, charmed and hired one of Jerriah's cousin's who was a blue rider to carry her to lessons at Harper in Lorus where Meeka had been studying. They hoped that by being with her older sister and maybe learning the answers to all her questions, Katya would settle down some and perhaps become a teacher when she returned home.
But the lessons could not hold her attention like the wonderful glass makings she constantly saw at the market place. Katya was at Harper Hall for a little over a turn before begging her parents to let her change to Glass Smithing. Talking it over and deciding it would be a good talent to add to their holding, her parent's agreed and she has been apprenticed for the last 5 years in the Glass Hall.
Physical Description: Katya is about 5'3", 110lbs. She is fair skinned, with a slight scattering of freckles, has ash brown hair that lightens during the summer, dark green eyes with thick lashes and thin brows, she has some slight muscle build up do to basic chores. Katya wears a long sleeved, light cotton, dark green shirt similar to the color of her eyes with lighter green trimming and embroidery, a dark green slitted skirt, dark brown calf boots, dark brown gloves, and a lighter green scarf tied around her middle

Personality:When Katya was young, her mother asked her jokingly what she would do if she had a dragon. Katya responded that she would play with it all day. And when her mother, Miska told her that dragons were too big to play with all day, she merely replied that either she would grow to be a giant or her dragon would be small. That pretty much describes Katya’s attitude towards life. If she can’t have the results she wants, she tends to find another way to go about getting want she wants. Not that she is greedy or material but as the third child and youngest daughter, she realized at a young age that is she could do it for herself, she would like the results much better. Katya has almost an air of innocence or naivety about her; she has an instant liking towards everyone she first meets.
In general, Katya is a very easy going girl. It is hard to upset her and even harder to get her angry at you. One thing that does upset her is messing with her family and her friends. She is doesn’t like anyone she considers hers, and although only 5’3”, Katya tends to act much bigger and taller, using her smarts to do her best to intimidate others. And speaking of smarts, the girl loves to learn. She is always trying to figure out new ways to do the same old task, wanting to learn more about Pern and in general just trying to figure out life and everything that comes with it. Because of this, she may come off as obnoxious or a pain to have around as she is constantly asking questions or getting into something. And when she gets told to shaft off, her feelings may get easily hurt. Katya is sensitive in the way that she wants everyone to like her and everyone to be her friend, and is bewildered when someone may not like her.
