Training

Training is one of the ways to improve your character, and is the main method of learning new abilities. It will not generate as much experience as going on quests or fighting, but there is the possibility of getting stat points as well.

You can train anywhere if you really want to. No one is stopping you. But training on your own will only get you so far. You can't learn any abilities by training wherever, and stat points are difficult to get. However, if you go to a school, you can not only learn whatever abilities the instructor has to offer, but you can gain multiple stat points a session.

Training is mostly for increasing your character's options, rather than your character's power.

Updating Your Character
(Leveling)

There are no "levels". You have no "classes". So how do you progress, and how do you judge your progression?

Uhm... good question. My best guess on judging your power as a character is taking all your experience points and stat points and write it out like thusly: "XP + Stat Points". That won't be perfect, but it does show you how much improvement your character has received. Remember that that will mean very little if you focus only on that and not on learning different abilities.

Abilities is another way to judge your character's capabilities. Most abilities have upgrades, or are requirements for more powerful abilities. You might be a wimpy apprentice, but if you know Meteor Storm, even a battle-hardened brute will sit up and take notice.

Aside from all that, as your character's data will all be in a post I put up (i.e. I'm the only one who can modify it) I will be the one to update the official info. If you want any updates, post the link (to your quest, roleplay, training, etc.) in your character's topic, and I'll take a look. You can also message me if you think I've been taking too long to get around to updating your character.
