Well, she was kinda abrupt, but she didn't react like most people did learning his age. Guess being a part of this academy makes me less strange, or more, depending on your point of view. "This is the place?" Sebastian asked hesitantly, not sure what to make of the restaurant. It would be his first time eating something different from what he was use too. Mostly fruit and things donated to the church he stayed at.

Lena smiled at him nodding. Taking a table next to the window in a booth she sat down with a sigh. It was a relief to sit down after walking all the way here. She ordered some water to begin with. Putting her hands together she was waiting for him to say and or ask her something.

"So, what is there to eat here?" Sebastian sat across from Lena. Looking around curiously and cautiously. He was unsure of himself, which irritated him. He hated the feeling of not knowing what to do, or what exactly was going on. Yet, that was all he had been feeling since he had awoken. A weariness took over him and he sat with a tired frown on his face, looking down at the table and the utensils arranged before him.

Lena looked at the menu pretending that it was very interesting. She looked over it then said with a small smile. "I'm just going to get the chicken salad." she said placing the menu down infront of her. She wiggled nervously in the chair. It was very awkward because they weren't having a conversation. She fiddled her fingers under the table wondering if ordering a salad wouldn't be enough.

"Salad..." Sebastian contemplated a moment, looking over the menu. "What's steak? It looks good." He gave the menu a scowl. This is all so different. He looked up at Lena for help, hoping she could help him make a selection. "Why don't you order me something? Anything will do, surprise me." He gave her an encouraging smile. Though he was getting more nerve racked by the second. "Sorry, I'm... just..." Sebastian trialed off with a stressful sigh.

Lena looked up at him. "Steak is cow meat..." she said. She wondered why he couldn't pick a simple thing of the menu to try. "Why don't you get the steak....it is very good..." she said smiling. She continued to fiddle her fingers under the table looking around. She didn't really know what to talk about and it sort of seemed like they where on a date..no...they're just friends...just friends. She took a long drink of water and looked back at him smiling again.

He nodded and set the menu down. Not wanting to look at it again. Actually wanting to find the darkest corner away from public as possible. The silence kept growing now and he realized he better think of something to say. "So, what we're you doing before you came to school?" It seemed a good way to start the conversation. At least they would be talking about something.

Lena looked up at him surprised by his question. She didn't know how she should explain it. "Ummm....I was at an orphanage...type...place.." she said. It was sort of like an orphanage but it was for dead children who don't have parents. She smiled down at the palms of her hands. "I...haven't really been out in the world for a while...." she said looking around again.

Sebastian nodded in sympathy, knowing exactly how she felt. "I woke up in tomb. Everything around me was sealed tight, never realized I was claustrophobic till that moment. Locked deep in the earth. Not too long after though I broke out. I had no idea where I was... and.." He stopped himself from losing his cool. Emotion swelled up inside him, churning and building in pressure. He took deep breath to calm himself and continued. "The gist of it is really, I woke up alone. My parents put me there, to stay locked away forever if they could manage it." He looked down at his hands. Under the table he pulled his sleeve up a bit, looking at the white scars swirling around his wrist. They went up his arms, over his chest and back, and even on his legs. They were the runes, magic. Though to Sebastian, they were a memory of what his parents did to him. Why he was glad they were dead. "I'm sorry Lena, I'm going on about crap again." He looked at her apologetically. "I'm a bit different, in more then the obvious ways..." He felt a little better saying some of it out loud, and sat back a little more relaxed, feeling a bit of pressure go away. "An orphanage? You have no parents either?"

Lena looked at him listening intently. His parents were strange people. "I...had parents...." she said her emotions stirring. She was trying to hold back tears. During the attempt to hold it back her skin turned translucent. She looked at him "Shall I spare you the sob story?" she asked a little whine in her voice. She didn't know whether or not she should tell him. No one really liked hearing sob stories.

He could hear the pain in her voice, and looking at her he could see she was close to tears. If he was good at only one thing, it would be reading peoples emotions. Knowing exactly how they felt. Always. "You don't have to tell me anything you don't want too. If it's allright with you though, I'd like to hear it later tonight." His tone was soft, filled with understanding. He gave her a warm smile of reasurrence. Her skin seemed to be see-through for a moment. Sebastian wasn't sure if it was real or a trick of the evening light, but he gave it no mind. There wear plenty of things stranger.

Lena nodded slightly. They ordered and when they got their food Lena ate quickly, but enjoyed it. She didn't talk much after the last conversation. Her skin had become opaque again. She paid for both of them. Standing she smiled at him warily. Anywhere else you want to go before we go back to the dorm?" she asked.

Sebastian looked outside, where the world was growing dark. His food was great, so much more taste then the meat he had eaten in his time. "There really doesn't seem to be anywhere else to go. Let's just walk and see where we go, head home slowly." He stood and smiled at her. Sebastian had enjoyed himself. The evening did have a rocky start, and was still a little precarious, but he felt like he had made a friend. He held out his hand for her to take, feeling his old sense of etiquette kick in. "Plenty of time in the world right?"
