"Oh, no particular reason. I'm just curious," Greg quickly replied, and after a brief pause he went on to say, "It's just that Debra has the reputation for being a loner, and I'm concerned that that French dude is... like... spoiling her groove, so to speak." Greg then raised his hands in the air and began to swing his arms back and forth as if he was dancing in his chair. After watching in amusement, Alex remarked to Sofia, "This is why it's often said that white people can't dance." "You shouldn't talk," Greg retorted, "You can't dance either!" Realizing that he might have said the wrong thing, Greg quickly added, "But not because of your bad knee. You couldn't dance before you got injured." "If you say so," Alex remarked in a tone that indicated that he thought otherwise. "Oh hey, I've just remembered something funny," Greg stated, and he went on to say, "So this guy breaks both of his hands in an accident at work, and goes to the hospital. After putting his hands into casts, the doctor tells him, 'Your hands will be good as new in two weeks. Three at the most.' 'Will I be able to play the piano?' the man asked. 'There's no reason why you shouldn't be able to play the piano,' the doctor assured him. 'Good,' the man replied, 'I've always wanted to, but I've never had time for lessons.'" he then laughed as if that was the most hilarious thing that he had heard. Greg laughed a little in spite of himself, and sarcastically remarked to Sofia, "Twenty thousand comedians out of work, and he tries to make a joke."

"I see," Sofia replied with a nod. She wasn't too sure what Greg meant by what he said especially when she wasn't too familiar with the dynamics between males and females. Everything felt so new to her. "Well despite her reputation I feel like with the right people in her life she might change her perspective on things. She's been through a lot and I hope with close friends she'll be able to open up." She shrugged slightly. She definitely wanted Debra to become comfortable with her and any other friends she makes. She wanted Debra to go through a positive change like she herself was going through.

What felt like curse weeks ago was beginning to feel like a blessing in disguise. Would it be cheesy for her to thank Alex for changing her life? Perhaps she'd have a heart to heart with him at some point but she was far too self-conscious to do that now.

Sofia also laughed a little at the joke though it wasn't exactly all that funny. She more so laughed at how hard he had laughed. As time passed she finished up eating and washed dishes while Alex talked with Greg a bit longer before he had to leave to head home. She was a bit nervous being with Alex alone since her mind was plaguing her with not so pure thoughts.

Even though Alex didn't let it show, he was becoming certain that Greg's questions about Debra were more than just curiosity. Unless Alex was missing his guess, Greg was less concerned about the French guy spoiling Debras groove, as Greg had put it, than he was concerned about the French guy spoiling his groove if and when he decided to ask Debra out on a date. "The food was really great, Sofia!" Greg said when he had finished eating, "If I could look forward to meals like this every night, I'd never go anywhere." "If this wasn't my favorite already, it would be now," Alex added. Greg and Alex went to the living room to talk while Sofia took care of the dishes. "I was just thinking about something," Greg said, "Since you all are in the same psychology class, you could... you know... keep an eye on Debra and that French dude, and let me know what's going on between them." "Ah! You want me to spy on them," Alex concluded. "No!" Greg replied, and after a moment of hesitation, he added, "Well... maybe. Sort of." Instead of forcing his friend to clarify, Alex shrugged and said, "I'll think about it." Greg had enough confidence in their friendship to conclude that Alex had meant 'Yes, I will' without Alex actually saying 'yes'. "While I'd love to stay longer," Greg then said as he stood up, "I do have some homework to do, so I should be going now. If you will excuse me for a moment, I want to thank Sofia again." Having said that, Greg went to the kitchen. "Thanks again for having me over for supper." Greg said to Sofia, "The food was great!"

Sofia smiled when she was given a compliment about her food and Alex mentioning that if it weren't his favorite dish already then it would be. It didn't take long to wash dishes so when she finished she sat at the table to get a bit of studying in. Their voices were somewhat low and she was focused on her studying so she didn't know what they were talking about. As she took a small break to get some water she heard someone come into the kitchen as she glanced over her shoulder to see Greg as he thanked her again for the food. "Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed it. Are you heading home now?" She glanced around and went over to her container which had plenty of her baked goods (cookies, danishes, turnovers etc). She put some in a little tupperware and handed it to Greg. "Please take some with you, feel free to share with your family." She smiled and grabbed the water she originally stood up to get.

She shut her book and did the usual host thing and walked Greg out and once at the door she waved and shut it once he was out of sight. She went over to the living room and joined Alex as she sat beside him though kept a good amount of space between them.

"Ah, sorry I'm using your hoodie without asking. I wanted to wear something comfortable and my mother threw out all of my comfortable clothes. I-I hope you don't mind," she blushed lightly and pulled the hoodie over her head to try and hide her blush.

As Greg was leaving, he called out to Alex, "See you later, Alex. Have a good night!" "You too!" Alex replied. When Sophia apologized for wearing his hoodie, he gave her an encouraging smile and replied, "I don't mind at all! You can borrow any of my clothes that you want, including my letterman jacket." Alex stopped short of suggesting that she could wear his letterman jacket to school if she wished, not wanting her to feel pressured to wear it. He also decided to not mention that it was something of a tradition in high school for a guy to let his girlfriend wear his letterman jacket to indicate to everyone that they were a couple. Sophia probably knew that already. After a moment of thought, Alex suggested, "We probably should look into getting you some more comfortable clothes, though. I've got an idea. The next time we go shopping for clothes, we can look for a pair of hoodies that go together."

"Thank you," Sofia replied to his reassurance and his permission to let her use any of his clothes. Of course she would try not to but if it meant being somewhat comfortable then she might use a sweater or two or sweatpants. Fortunately she was good at keeping up with laundry so he never had to worry about not having clothes to wear. When he suggested. buying a pair of hoodies on their next shopping trip she couldn't help but look at him with a bit of surprise. Did he just suggest matching hoodies? Sofia had always envied the cute couples with matching sweaters/outfits and now technically she could indulge in such fantasies. Her heart nearly skipped a beat at the thought and the light blush on her face became far brighter.

How embarrassing! Here she was thinking about such trivial and innocent things and blushing from that alone. Her thoughts were a jumbled mess as she began to babble, her words coming out like word vomit, "Okay, we can do that. Now, get in bed with me."

Her mind processed what she just said. Her face was now completely red as she quickly blurted out, "Th-that's not what- I mean we should get ready for bed!" She never felt as insecure and foolish as she did in that very moment. There was something about him that made her lose all of her composition. It was easier to run away. She turned on her heels and quickly ran to the bedroom. She ran into the closet and shut the door, pressing her back against the door as she gripped the fabric over her frantically beating chest. He was probably out there laughing at her...right?

Sofia was on her way to the bedroom before Alex had time to react to what she had said. To be honest, her little mix-up was funny in a way, but it wasn't something that he would tease her about, and he had known what she had really meant to say without being told. Alex knew a few girls, with Brandy immediately coming to mind, who would mean what 'get in bed with me' implied. Of course Sofia wasn't one of them, since that wasn't like her, which was fine with Alex. By now it was safe to say that the last thing that either of them needed was for Sofia to start acting like the other girls that they knew. Sofia just wouldn't be Sofia anymore. It occurred to Alex that maybe what she had said at first had been what their psychology teacher would call a Freudian slip. Maybe subconsciously she wanted to have sex with Alex but didn't realize it, or maybe she was still too shy and self-conscious to actively think about it. Most likely once she had gotten past her shyness and consented to fully consummating their marriage, not only would Sofia see that sex was enjoyable, but also desirable. Alex was also fully confident that he will be able to give her a very satisfying experience for the both of them if and when he got the opportunity. Getting past her shyness was the challenge, but Alex felt that he could solve it in time. Perhaps time was all that Sofia needed at this point. On the day when they found out that they were married for real, it's very likely that Sofia would not have even thought about borrowing any of Alex's things, and certainly would not have tried even if she had thought about it. Now she was comfortable enough to borrow his hoodie, and she liked the idea of wearing matching clothes, which Alex took to be a good sign.

Perhaps all that Sofia needed was more time to get more comfortable with Alex, to the point where she would be comfortable with being intimate with him. Perhaps all that Alex needed was patience, along with the occasional nudge in the right direction. In any case, he had no choice but to be patient. Alex's mobility was limited as long as his knee was injured and he had to wear that knee brace, and so for the time being most of the things that they could do in the bedroom had to be initiated by Sofia. Maybe his injury was a blessing in disguise, in the sense that it was keeping him from trying to rush things, only to end up doing something stupid that he and Sofia would regret. As for tonight, Alex decided to play it cool. When he got to their bedroom, he wouldn't say anything about her slip of the tongue unless she did, and if she did, he would insist that he understood what she had actually meant. After giving Sofia a couple minutes to settle down, he went to the bedroom. He paused at the door, having decided that it would be a good idea to let her know he was coming in, instead of surprising her. For a very brief moment he considered asking if he could come in now, but decided not to. Alex shouldn't have to ask for permission to enter his own bedroom. Instead he called out, "Hey, Sofia! Are you decent?" That will let her know he was coming in while accommodating her sense of modesty.

After calming herself down she got ready for bed as quick as possible but she eventually found herself wondering what to wear to bed. Her old pajamas were gone and left were more lingerie looking garments. Did her mother purposely do this? Or assume she'd need them? Nevertheless she had to either wear one of the sleepware options or sleep in Alex's hoodie which wasn't exactly a solution either. Fortunately there was a more modest option so she went with that though she hurried over to the bed.

"Sofia! Are you decent?"

Thank god he called out! She hurried into the bed and hid under the blanket. Hopefully he wouldn't need any help getting ready for bed tonight though there was no time to think if an emergency happened after all. Nevertheless she snuggled herself under the blanket, hiding half her face so that only her eyes were peaking over. "I-I am, you can come in." She replied as she placed her glasses on the dresser beside the bed.

Alex waited a couple seconds after Sofia had replied, so as to not appear to be overly anxious, and then went into the bedroom. He quickly saw that calling out had been a very good move on his part. Even though she had said that she was decent, the fact that she had the blanket pulled up to her eyes suggested that she was wearing something that she didn't want to be seen in. Alex proceeded to go through his usual routine as if there was nothing unusual going on, and there probably wasn't. "I wonder what she's wearing," he thought, "Lingerie? Something kinky?" Of course it was unlikely that Sofia would wear something kinky, at least not voluntarily. Even so, Alex thoughts went from what she might be wearing to what he would like her to be wearing. A while back Greg had mentioned that his parents were trying to add some spice to their love life, and wearing sexy lingerie was one way to do that. Greg had found a 'Frederick's of Hollywood' catalog that his mother had brought home from the mall, had looked through it out of curiosity, and had then shown the catalog to Alex, because that's what guys do. When a guy sees something he likes, he shares it with his friends. Alex had agreed that everything in the catalog would help to spice up someone's love life, and a couple of them would probably wake the dead, so to speak.

At the moment Alex was thinking of a couple teddies that would fit Sofia quite well. He then quickly pushed such thoughts from his mind before his expression or body language hinted at what he was thinking. Alex decided to strike up a conversation to distract himself and to help Sofia to relax before he got into bed with her. He also decided that it might be best if he talked about someone other than Sofia and himself. "You know, it's kind of weird," he casually remarked, "That Greg is suddenly interested in Debra. She doesn't seem to be his type." Alex paused to shrug, and the added, "But then again, you can know someone for a long time, and he'll still surprise you." He paused again to give Sofia the chance to offer her thoughts on the subject, and maybe tell of a time when she had been surprised by someone that she thought she knew well.

Sofia told herself over and over that there was no need to be embarrassed and what she had on wasn't as nearly as bad as the other options. Thinking on the positive side it looked cute and fit her body well. She had some work cut out for her in building up her self-confidence. It was certainly better than before especially with the tiny intimate moments they've had together. Alex showing interest in her was a mix of emotions but she couldn't deny that it made her feel better about herself and about the situation. His question pulled her away from her thoughts and his distraction tactic easily worked. Pulling the blanket off of her face she nodded, "I thought the same and Debra doesn't seem like she would be interested in someone like Greg but I can't be sure about that since technically we haven't been friends that long. You and Greg have been friends for a lot longer and if he can surprise you then Debra definitely has surprises up her sleeve." She bit her lip softly as she thought about it and truly wondered what type of guy Debra was into.

"Truth be told now I'm a bit curious." She added as she sat up to look at him, already forgotten how she was currently dressed. He would have a view of the top but it was rather easy to imagine how the rest looked. "Maybe I'll ask her what type of guy she likes."

Even though Alex was pleased to get a glimpse of the nightie that Sophia was wearing, he continued to act nonchalant, as if there was nothing unusual about the moment. He had to say that this was an indication that being patient was working, at least for the time being. Alex worked his way over to the bed, and after sitting, he said, "It's possible that Greg is a guy who is attracted to dangerous women. You know, like the kind of girl who are attracted to the 'bad boy' type. And what I mean by 'the kind of girl' is Brandy and her kind." He had added that last part to make sure that Sophia knew that he wasn't including her in that category. He went on to say, "I don't mean to be rude, but you have to admit that Debra does come across as a bit aggressive at times, and the way that she dresses doesn't exactly encourage friendship either. I've even heard that she pulled a knife on someone recently. Not that I'm saying that there's anything wrong with any of that. Whoever it was probably deserved it. The point that I'm getting to is that maybe the reason why I haven't noticed that Greg is attracted to that kind of girl before is because there hasn't been that kind of girl in our school before Debra arrived."

She mauled over his words, nodding occasionally. He had a lot of good points and she certainly didn't feel like he was saying anything negative about Debra. The girl was certainly aggressive but most of the time it was very much warranted. Sofia could only hope that some day she would be just as brave and bold. "You're right. I didn't really realize that someone like Debra has never been at our school." He then brought up how there were plenty of girls that liked the bad boy type and in all honesty she would include herself in that category of girls. Of course she never had a desire to get in a relationship with that type of guy, it was just the mystery and the slight idea of danger that was exciting. Sofia would keep that to herself.

At the mention of Debra pulling a knife she couldn't help but chuckle a bit. "Her fearless attitude is very admirable but I can't say I condone the whole knife situation. But yes I'm curious as to what type of guy she's into. For all we know she might like the quiet nerdy type or someone like Greg." She laughed and pictured Debra dressed in all black cuddling up to someone like Greg. It was a funny sight, but nonetheless adorable.

"I'll let you know what I find out, unless she makes me promise to keep it a secret then I might have to keep it to myself." She threw him a cheeky grin before laying back down and hiding under the blanket again. She made sure to turn off her lamp before laying on her back and shutting her eyes. She wasn't exactly tired but she wasn't sure what more to talk about.

When Sofia mentioned that she might not be able to tell him what she found out from Debra, he nodded in understanding and replied, "Yeah, sure, no problem." He knew that sometimes it was important for a girl to keep her friends' secrets, which was also important to guys as well. Sometimes guys will make each other promise to keep something a secret, while there are things that a guy will instinctively know not to talk about with anyone other than his friends. Taking Sofia's hint, he settled into bed for the night. As Alex was contemplating out the next day might go, he remembered that Kimberly was going to be in his and Sofia's psychology class. He had the feeling that psychology was going to get interesting, but not necessary in a good way. Putting that out of his mind for now, Alex eventually went to sleep.

((OOC: Time for a time skip! I have an idea for the psychology class. If you recall, when Debra first arrived in the class, the teacher appointed her to be an independent observer because there hadn't been a boy for her to have as a pretend husband, but then Pierre got there and became her pretend husband. Now that Kimberly has arrived, the teacher is going to have Kimberly take over Debra's observer duties, since Kimberly doesn't have a partner, but one of the girls in the class is going to make a surprise suggestion that's going to cause some drama with Debra, which I'm going to keep a secret until it happens. cat_biggrin ))

A good nights rest was rare but for some reason Sofia slept very soundly. So much so that she was up an hour before the alarm went off and spent her early morning making a delicious breakfast and sneaking in some studying. She had left the door open on purpose to let the smell of bacon and eggs and coffee waft into the room to persuade Alex to wake up before the alarm. Lunches were packed from last nights delicious dinner and once the two of them ate they were off to school.

By the time she parked, Sofia couldn't help but notice how smoothly and peaceful the day was going. In fact it was a little too peaceful and a little seed of doubt was planted in her gut. Something was brewing but perhaps it was just her natural anxiety kicking in. Pushing it aside she got out of the car and helped Alex out if he needed it before making their way into the building to head to their first class. As they walked she asked quietly, "How's your knee feeling by the way? Make sure to tell me if the pain gets any worse so we can make a doctors appointment."
