Routes 1 and 2 Adventures~

Further up Route 1 are endless fields of green. There is a lot of tall grass around, just crawling with all sorts of Pokemon. What can you find out here is anyone's guess, but there is no denying that sense of adventure for any rookie trainer new to the region!

Branching west at around the halfway point, leading to the ruins is Route 2. The salty breeze feels great, and it feels like there's new Pokemon to be found here. Who knows what you can find out here! Why not sit back and watch the waves crash on the cliffs below you on the north side, or wander down the south side of the route to get some sand between your toes?

I'd appreciate it if you PMed me and asked to be in this thread before you posted. We don't need a huge cluster of people in here. You're free to make your own!

The sun was shining, the wind was pleasant, and Graham was out wandering about on the route. He took a look at the Pokeball he received from the lab before letting the Pokemon out. It was a Mudkip! He knew of this Pokemon! They came from his region! It was like... carrying a piece of home with him. That was pretty cool.

"I'm going to call you Kippers, okay?" Graham said with a grin. The Mudkip bounced, wagging his tailfin. "Excellent~ It'll be nice traveling with you, partner. Now let's go catch ourselves some friends!"

As so the pair wandered into the tall grass to see what they could find.

It was not long until something lunged out at the Trainer and his Pokemon in the tall grass. It was... a Shinx. Graham quickly flipped open the Pokedex to gather data on what looked like a lion cub.

"Shinx, the Flash Pokemon. The extension and contraction of its muscles generates electricity. It glows when in trouble." spoke the Pokedex.

Oooh~ That meant that he could hook this little guy up to a sizable hamster wheel and generate unlimited electricity. Seemed like a pretty nifty flashlight too. And if he recalled reading his pamphlet about the Etrua region, wasn't the first gym a Flying-type gym? Having an Electric-type would definitely help. He pointed a finger at the lion cub.

"Kippers, hit it with a Tackle!" he said.

The Mudkip charged, ramming into the Shinx with a Tackle. But the Shinx had done the same move, resulting into a collision that hurt both sides. Another Tackle was ordered, and Graham began to prep some Pokeballs to try to catch the Pokemon.

That was... that was too close.

The first two Pokeballs failed, and Kippers was looking pretty weak after taking four tackles from the Shinx. But the last thrown Pokeball secured the catch. Perhaps the Shinx had tired itself out after all those Tackles. Or maybe it pitied Graham and allowed himself to be caught. But whatever the reason was didn't matter once the ball stopped shaking, securing the catch.

Graham grinned and scooped up the Mudkip in one arm before picking up the captured Shinx in the other. "You know... I don't think I learned how to catch Pokemon... kinda glad things all worked out in the end. All I need to do is weaken them then try pelting them with Pokeballs, huh? Maybe I should learn how to throw first..." he mused, now recovering the Pokeballs that missed.

His team was looking pretty worn out, so he backtracked to town to locate a Pokemon Center, and some time later he returned with a fully healed Kippers and Lucius, the newly named Shinx.

After some searching, they came across a bird that looked kinda like an owl. An owl in the middle of the day was kinda weird. Graham didn't recognize this Pokemon either, so he flipped open his Pokedex to get some intel on it.

"Hoothoot, the Owl Pokemon. It marks time precisely. Some countries consider it to be a wise friend, versed in the world's ways." stated the Pokedex. A small memo also popped up in his Pokedex to say that his Mudkip had leveled up and learned a new move. That was pretty sweet, Graham thought.

... And here was his alarm clock. It wouldn't hurt to raise a Flying-type Pokemon either. Time to battle it and try to catch it!

"Lucius, go!" said Graham, sending out the Shinx.

It took Shinx a moment to gather his bearings, since he was just recently caught. After being ordered to Tackle the bird, the Flash Pokemon rammed into the HootHoot. The bird responded by identifying the Shinx with Foresight. After another Tackle collision (seriously, was this going to be the norm for a while?), Graham prepped some Pokeballs to try to catch the Owl.

Well, the first attempt was a failure, but the bird was caught with the second Pokeball. It looked like he was getting better at this.

Graham grinned as he walked over to scoop the failed Pokeball, then the caught Hoothoot near it. He thought for a few moments on what to name the bird, wanting to have her nickname be something relating to time, before ultimately deciding to name it after the stopwatch character in the game 'Diddy Kong Racing'. Upon checking out the stats of T.T., the Hoothoot, he noticed that his ability was Insomnia, which explained why the bird was awake even during the day. Graham frowned slightly. It looked like he would have some difficulty sleeping then if the bird didn't sleep, but at least he wouldn't have to worry about oversleeping.

From getting her first Pokemon, Alyss decided to head out towards the open city. She looked around, checking her map every now and then to make sure she wasn't getting lost. When she noticed the grassy area that was the beginning of Route 1, she darted off towards it with her Chikorita chasing after her.

When she arrived at Route 1, she looked around while feeling the wind against her back. She smiled, scanning the area before feeling something against her leg. She jumped a bit before realizing it was her Chikorita, reaching down and picking her up. "You scared me little one." She said, petting its head a little. She took another look around before she ended up noticing that she wasn't alone on the route. Ah someone else got out here as well. May as well go and say hi. She thought, moving towards Graham before her Chikorita ended up giving a little, "Chika!" To alert him of their presence on the route.

Graham had caught more friends for himself and Kippers. With Lucius and T.T. in the party, he could afford a break. He wasn't sure what else there was to catch out here that was worth getting. Perhaps he should push further down the route into a new area and see if there was anything worth finding over there.

However, Kippers had picked up a sound and turned his head. Graham glanced over at what the Mudkip was looking at to see a girl with a Chikorita approaching them.

"Hi there. Are you new too?" he asked, getting up to his feet and dusting the grass off himself.

Vayne walked into the Route with his partner on his shoulder, who was also pawing at his collar charm like what a Skitty does with yarn. Vayne didn't mind, as far as he was concern, starters are still children. Vayne looked at the surrounding area, trying to figure out if there was somewhere that wild pokemon would more likely appear. Vayne's partner seemed a bit distracted with the charm still but also seemed to be trying to the same as Vayne.

While examining the area, Vayne noticed two other trainers conversing. amybe that would leave him time to not get noticed, trainers tends to be prone to making conversations and bringing others into them. This only lead to Vayne keeping a sharper eye for rustles in the bushes or tall grass.

Ah, the boy had noticed them. Well that was good for her, since that way she wouldn't have to shout out to him. "Ah yes I am." She said, looking down at his Mudkip that he had next to him. "Is that your starter? He looks so cute!" She added with a smile. Alu jumped down from her arms and moved closer to Kippers so she could get a closer look. She stared at him before she smiled, then started to jump up and down, getting a laugh from Alyss. "I think Alu likes your Mudkip as well. I'm Alyss by the way."

Chael entered the route, a Totodile in tow. The route was filled with new trainers who looked like a bunch of fools, gossiping. He'd try to avoid them. If he didn't kill himself in annoyance first that was. Argos snapped once and pointed at a purplish mouse in the distance. It looked like a female and a relatively strong one at that! Yes she'd be his. Crouching low he quietly walked towards the rodent, as he took another Pokeball from his bag. She looked at him, curiousness all over.

"Ready?" Chael asked Argos. The alligator nodded and approached the mammal. Argos jumped and swiped its claws at the Ratatta's side. She hissed before using Quick Attack, rushing into him at an amazing speed. Argos flipped over before tripping her with his arm then swinging his other arm down on her base. The Totodile, as it seemed, was a ruthless fighter.

"Stop." Chael commanded. Fortunately Argos obeyed, reluctantly. Walking over the trainer dropped a Pokeball over her head.

Chael almost smiled. It took a measly two Pokeballs to catch this one. Sending her out he quickly sprayed her with a Potion. Her bruises instantly healed. Well, that solved one problem as Argos was barely hurt. He'd have to find a way to control his blood lust later. Until then she needed a name. Something she never showed and would give others. "I'll name you Fear. Ok, girl?" Chael asked as his Ratatta looked at him oddly. She looked at his feet and started to sniff around, curious as always. The boy raised an eyebrow.

A murderous Totodile and a nosy Ratatta. Well he'd keep searching for an electric type when he could. Then he walked to a far off area. Until then he sat down, a distance from the other trainers.

The girl and her Chikorita approached, so Graham casually pulled out his Pokedex as if he was checking the data on his Pokemon as it pinged to tell him Lucius had just leveled up (woo, it learned Leer!), but was really adding the Grass-type to his Pokedex. Even though he wasn't that familiar with the Pokemon from other regions, he at least made sure to research all the starter Pokemon to find one he liked. So he knew some things about Johto's starters.

He put the Pokedex away to hear the girl admit that she was a newcomer, like him. He grinned when she said she thought Kippers was cute. Kippers himself wagged his little tail fin, bouncing a little as he looked at Alu. Graham chuckled. "Kippers is pretty friendly. I think he just wants more friends. I'm Graham. Nice to meet you, Alyss." he said.

His Mudkip was friendly? Well that was a good thing to know. She knelt down, extending her hand towards Kippers so that she could pet his head a little. "It's nice to meet you as well Graham. Where did you come from?" She asked, thinking back to Lilycove in Hoenn.

When Alyss asked where he came from, he paused for a moment, then figured it wouldn't hurt. "Sootopolis from Hoenn. Yourself?" he asked.
