Okay, sounds good.
So we can just decide amongst each other why they were called together?
Does that reason apply to both groups? Do they have to keep the same facts going so that the stories are progressing the same so when the writers eventually intersect they are on the same page?

It would certainly make more sense that way, wouldn't it? wink

Oh you and your dry wit.
If only I could give you a proper smack through this computer screen.

Alright then, I just wanted to be clear.

Now, next question.
How many people need to agree on the reason for us to move forward with it?
After all, we (the writers) aren't even sure if all of our fellow contestants have shown up and not everyone has been online alot.

You're just full of questions aren't you? surprised

Inevitably, you may notice that some people don't show up. You'll also notice they won't appear in Round 2.

Not everyone has to agree on the direction, but I expect everyone to play nice and at least ask around before making a critical decision. You're all competent individuals. You'll figure something out. surprised

ALRIGHT EVERYONE!
Group 1 & Group 2

According to Palantine, it is up to all of us to write this story. We don't have to wait for the gods of the contest to give us the information, we can discover and craft the mystery ourselves. And not just that we CAN but it IS up to us.
If we want more action, we have to generate it.
Pushing us in the right direction, we have been tasked with determining what it is that is the common thread between all of the beneficiaries. This must be the same in Group 1 & 2 as the writers will eventually be writing together.

So here are some options that I have thought of. PLEASE add your own or say what you like. Let's give this two days for discussion and make a decision tomorrow night so that we can get this done before the end of Round 1 on Friday.

Ideas:

The Practical Scheme: They are all some distant relation of Reginald Wallace.

The 'Clue' Scheme: They have all been blackmailed by Reginald Wallace. He mentions in his will that all of his blackmail information is hidden in the house if anyone cares to find it. He knew who was planning on killing him and that information is in there as well. They all want to get their information out of the box but the killer is knocking them off to try to keep anyone else from finding the box and revealing them.

The 'Horror' Scheme: They all, have connections to a shared tragedy that one of their parents or grandparents had a hand in. They have been gathered here for the killer to exact revenge on the families.

The 'Adventure' Scheme: They all, whether they know it or not, were granted a secret piece of information with their letters. If one were to kill the rest off and collect the letters, they would end up with the location and password to a vault with the fortune. Or they could work together but we need a killer to have proper fun. lol

Add your idea! Give your opinions

I find myself more interested in the horror or adventure theme. Feels much more in tune with what I want to see happen in the long run if I ever make it far enough.

Blah post is...cliche and totally half-assed. I'm sorry, I'm just really tired. Had kind of an...emotional night to put it simply so I'm sorry I didn't get to post till now and hopefully you'll forgive me if that last post it total bull since that's kind of what I did. But, we're even on the semi-GMing; all for character development and plot though - god we're devoted!
;D

And wow K, way to rally the troops!! I'm for the Practical scheme but with an ultimate turn out and end that the Adventure scheme has; mainly cause I'd love it if Raina did end up being related to Wallace since she was in a six year coma and has no memory of the first fifteen years of her life (granted most of it was spent unconscious). But something that I'd like to point out, for when Raina and Kaine get back to the main meeting room, is that our own host Mr. Robert Mathison (who sent out the letters and I'm just assuming is our host) has yet to show up which makes me think this is a perfect set-up for a Clue scheme with the butler ending up to be the total back stabbing a*****e much like the movie.

In any case I'd just like to make it to the final round regardless of which scheme we take on
:3

Well we have Robert Mathison, the butler, and possibly a maid and/or a cook that we could have as murder suspects.
Or all of them lol.
Or possibly implying that a strange murderer might be in the house with them that is not part of the staff.
Any of these could be implied regardless of who the killer ends up being.
Anything to keep the mystery going! lol

And I love the post.
Poor Kaine and Raina. So adorable.
I'm going to miss them after Friday.
I think Kaine's brain temporarily exploded while reading it.
I'm getting a response together now though.
I'm distracted and busy still, so it will be a little while.

And yeah, I do tend to get OCD.
But I know that we have all been looking forward to this and the mystery surrounding the contest means that we are all learning as we go.
So I just want to help as much as I can.
I didn't realize how much of the plot that we were responsible for so now that I know, I don't want us to fall behind.
I PMed everyone that has posted so far in either group, so hopefully they all get it soon so we can get as many people's input as possible.

Ooo now that kind of assertive attitude would make a great addition to our crew. wink

Also, I just want to point out that your benevolent benefactor is one Renald Wallace. whee

I try as best as I can.
xd

And we were talking about the name of the lawyer at the bottom of the 'letter' that all of the characters recieved.

Sleepiness is kicking my a**.
I'm slinking off to bed.
I'll have Kaine's response up tomorrow in the AM.
Sorry!

I like the clue and adventure ones... maybe like a mix of them??

Like... The blackmail hidden in the house are the clues to the location and password to where the fortune are hidden and the killer is trying to stop people from getting the clues...

idk I'm kinda brain dead, I gotta do math and then sleep oAo

Practical actually seems the most impractical scheme, in my opinion. rofl

Clue scheme doesn't really work for every character in the contest: not everyone has a big secret written into their backgrounds.

Horror scheme seems promising. Adventure scheme can only function on the premise that everyone in fact brought their letters with them. redface

Well as we are thrown into this contest and constrained only by the facts given to us my the mods running it and the profile that we were provided with, we can make up whatever else we like.
I surely have already made up a TON about Kaine.
I'm sure it doesn't fit was his creator had in mind, but each person is entitled to his own interpretation and everyone has their own creative flair.
As far as the story that we craft, we can wave our 'RP God Stick' and make whatever we need to happen work.
Who said that they all DIDN'T bring their letters with them?
It would be reasonable and it is prove of their invite to the occasion as well as containing the address and information.

As far as being related, I was thinking very distantly.
Like his late wife's cousin's granddaughter.
My thought was that he didn't have any close family, so he devised this elaborate 'INSERT PLOT HERE' out of insanity/to make sure it went to who deserved it/to drive the greedy people crazy out of all of his distant relatives.

The Clue Scheme could work as long as we all just decided on something appropriate to our characters that he could have been blackmailing them for.
It would be a one post alteration for them all to admit to themselves or the others that they were being blackmailed.
Even squeaky clean characters could have something lurking from their past, like cheating on a major exam (LSATs, MCATs, etc), sleeping with a professor, etc. Not terrible things but things that they wouldn't want anyone to know.

Anyway, I'm not insisting on any of these, just demonstrating how I think they could work.

I agree with the others that the 'Practical' scheme would work best if incorporated with the others, especially the Adventure scheme.
Because why would he have sent THOSE people the letter/clue.

If we have any other ideas why these people were chosen, please share them!

Lovely Siren! I'm working on Kaine as we speak but it is slow going today. I apologize.
Major mental block. lol
