Does anyone like or collect BJDs? I'm getting REALLY into them and I was just curious of other people in the guild liked them as well. I am personally interested in the 16" ones.

I met a friend at Japanese class who likes them so she has given me a lot of good information concerning how to build one and who to buy from. It's awesome! I hope I can get one soon! heart

OH HAI THAR!!
I've been into BJDs for...oh god...nearly 5 years now! I currently have three (a BlueFairy Emilie - Azumaria, Dream of Doll Hoo - Kiren, OrientDoll Vamp Ye - Puck) and want more but have nooooo money.

I hope your friend pointed you to Den of Angels. It's a fantastic forum full of all the information you could ever want on them! (just be warned the mods tend to be...infuriating. They are not all that well liked...)

Also I would be happy to have another person to talk dolls with! I have several other friends involved in BJDs and we tend to get together to dork out both with and without dolls! (They're a great way to meet cool people!)

Also, just a warning, we in the hobby do doll measurement in cm. Mine are MSD - 42-45cm and a tiny. I have no idea how big puck is. He's tiny! lol

The best advice I was given as a newbie to the hobby was to wait until I find the perfect doll and save for it. Buying a cheap one just because you can afford it is a bad idea. Also, don't limit yourself to Volks. They say they're the only true ones, but there are SO many companies and SO many different faces!

(I don't know if you can tell but I'm super excited talk about dolls! whee )

[EDIT]
Also since you're into lolita, you might like DollHeart's clothing. I love their style for my girl. She needs ALL THE FRILLS!!! They're expensive but totally worth it for the insane quality. They're the part of the high end fashion of the doll world.

[EDIT EDIT]
My friend just told me about NERDS, the New England Resin Doll Society. Since you're here now, check it out! Neither of us is particularly familiar with it, but I figure, the more places, the better! lol

Seconding Den Of Angels. It's an awesome forum and once you have access to the marketplace you could even see about a secondhand one as they can often go for cheaper. I love browsing the galleries, I envy those that can make such gorgeous photos.

I only have 1 BJD, a Fairyland Puki Pukisha (the Hawari Hafa set, I believe) who's only 4" tall. I had another Puki, a "Chocolate" one but I sold her due to lack of bonding after about 6 months. I also had an Iplehouse MSD (Iplehouse has GORGEOUS dolls) who was a Tania Pierrot. Loved her to death but I was never comfortable with taking her outside for photos or meets or anything so she just sat next to my computer desk until I rehomed her early last year.

But my remaining will always be here, I love her too much. In fact I just got her a lovely wa-lolita dress off of Etsy. It's a good site for BJD clothes and accessories too.

BJDs are really awesome, there's so many possibilities with them and they're just such gorgeous works of art. A tip though, be cautious about "white" skinned dolls and tanned ones. The white ones can yellow if you expose them to sunlight too much and the tanned ones can sometimes turn colors and the resin seems to have a bigger tendency to have bubbles.

You know, I never say this, but I do think it's fascinating and incredible how much detail they can out into those things. I hope you get to making doll clothes. I'd be very sweet, and I can always have an excuse to crochet something for them. 💫❤️
