Caelius was looking...well, just as irritated and disgruntled as he always did. The Death Hunter's eyes swept around the room, stopping briefly on the new recruits to his own division, and Gale's gaze narrowed just the slightest, though he said nothing.
<< He's like a hawk surveying its prey. >> murmured Jinhai, and Gale made a soft noise of agreement, lips pressing together in a thin line.
The "pet names" Caelius was referring to clearly meant the ones from the island "test." Gale had long since abandoned the name Beta Five, had moved on from that part of his life, but it did not mean that he had forgotten entirely about it. He had relived the test during the first mission involving Aria, back when he had first been killed by the Epsilons, to the creatures in that room.
Except, looking back at it, it seemed so long ago; the most recent mission was the only thing fresh in Gale's mind - and he didn't want it to be. It seemed that every time he closed his eyes he could see -
Well. Things he didn't want to either see or remember right now.
He debated asking Caelius if the mission involved Aria in some way, or even just that horribly failed mission in general, but thought better of it, clamping his mouth shut and letting the rest of the trainees ask questions.

Once the man (Caelius...she believed that was who this was) was completely visible to them, Minerva shifted in her seat to get a better look. His face, unlike his name, did happen to ring some bells as her hazel eyes tried to recollect past events further. Nothing in particular stood out besides passing glances during her trials some time ago, at least nothing that she could remember clearly...but that wasn't at all disappointing for the usually observant woman, as the look that passed over his rigid face in that room, at that desk, made her extremely anxious.
So much so that she crossed her ankles and began to chew on one of her pinkies.
Even Blythe had fallen silent, a slightly impressed slightly afraid sensation tingling in the back of her head.
But wariness soon led to intrigue, Minerva's arms crossing on the desk as she leaned forward within it. She looked to Candace as the girl spoke up, wondering for what reason they had been put on probation, but soon turned her attention back to the hunter at the front; noting the sloppily set cloth on his wounded arm...which she hadn't noticed earlier. In fact, there was a lot about Caelius' current state that Minnie hadn't seen until just then. It was sort of alarming now that she could see it in full detail--the man looked wounded. He didn't look at all suited for a mission of any kind, not that Minerva knew what a typical mission entailed, or what this particular one would be for...
In any case it worried her to think that he would be involved in something strenuous. It sounded like they would all need to rely on one another...
Was it sarcasm? Probably, but only because Minnie was showing compassion for someone other than the arm bands just below each shoulder. The woman shook out her curling, dirty blond hair gently, as if to shake off Blythe's irritation, before dropping her hands to her lap.
Fighting the urge to gnaw away on a hang nail.

When Wilson had received the text, he was almost tempted to not attend. Almost. However, this was his division head; he didn’t have the audacity to rebel against Caelius, especially after what Candace and Gale had told him. There was no way he was going to skip out—except he was kind of lost on his way here.
[You have no idea where you’re going, are you?] I sort of have an idea? Fortunately, Wilson did have a general gist of where to go and as he poked his head inside the correct room he noticed the spectacled man in front of the room, his elbows still bleeding. Eyes widened just a fraction before he hastily scanned the room for familiar faces. Fortunately, he spotted Ryan and with a relieved smile, quickly slid into the seat next to the boy. “I’m not late, am I?”
He eyed the man again. “That’s supposed to be Caelius, right?” he asked quietly. Wilson watched him eye the other death trainees and he pursed his lips. What was he going to say? It didn’t take long for the trainee to receive his answer. Disdain. Always disdain, never not disdain. When he brought up the ‘contract’ from when they had first woken up Wilson shifted uncomfortably in his seat.
Hey wait. “Mission? He’s giving us a mission already?” Wilson mumbled, eyebrows furrowed.

In truth, Kat was a little surprised to hear that they were going off on a mission so suddenly after their awakening..and with all the new trainee's, including herself being..untrained. But, it was as the death hunter had said; He was not here to hold their hands. This was what they had signed up for anyways. Guess they just had to jump right on in. You'll help me out, won't you Xedis?
:To the best of my abilities..but it will be difficult, what with you not being able aim.:
Grinning to herself, she remained silent. She doubted that anyone here would appreciate her snickering. Especially if they got the idea she was laughing over the mission..or worse--Caelius's hair.
Eye's darting to the dark skinned woman; her question intrigued her. Probation, hmm? Whatever for? Crimson eye's remained focused on Candace for a moment, before shifting back to Caelius. She had no questions to ask--at least nothing of importance. Instead, she pulled her legs up and hugged them close to her chest, waiting to hear what it was they would be doing.

Ceres had always prompted herself on never being late, but putting on her... uniform, i guess you would have called it, took a little longer than expected. Hell, it clung to places she was not ever sure NEEDED to be that tight... all the same, it fit her like a glove. Takeru was going on and on and on the entire time about how tight clothing meant she could move faster, and less to be snagged on in battle... but she still wondered if the discomfort was really worth it.
She managed to enter the room before Caelius had spoke up again, but it still left her feeling nervous. She was good in groups... but THIS group, looked a -lot- larger than it had earlier just out of the pods.
Thats because, this is everyone not just the newbies, hatchling.
Ceres mentally eyerolled, which she made sure Takeru caught, at the nickname the sword had taken to calling her. It seemed either he heard everyone calling them that... or it was a common nickname.
None the less, she peered around the room curiously. Remembering a few of those whom started the same time she had, Ceres moved towards Kat to stand near the other woman, not really sure whom everyone was. She gave a nod towards those she remembered, but otherwise her gaze remained on Caelius. She was, of course, bubbling with questions internally... but only a bunch of ones she answered herself as soon as she fired them off mentally.
Shhhh be quiet! I can't hear over your mental prattling...

It was actually kind of surprising there weren't more questions, at least to Candace. But she had a feeling Caelius was just going to call them all idiots regardless of how many questions were asked. He always did it before, and even when bedridden he had been the usual arrogant a*****e he always was. Candace couldn't stand seeing his face right now. Damnit. She heard someone shout and then watched as one of the new guys climbed over a desk, eyes widening and watching Caelius in the corner of her eye. Five bucks said he was going to kill him. "I wouldn't do that.." She warned the boy reaching for Wilson, keeping her voice as low as she could. That was a bad idea, man. This was not grade school.
"Candy!" Candace noticeably tensed at the use of that goddamn nickname, looking around for Dr. H. That a*****e. What was he doing here. Wait...he wasn't here? She heard her name again and finally spotted him. Jerry. Ugh, Jerry...why did you call her Candy? She was going to have to tell him that horrid nickname was off limits. He could call her anything except Candy. Sigh. She smiled, waving a few fingers at the man and moving to offer him one of the seats beside her. Oh..wait. Damn. She pouted and mouthed an 'I'm sorry! I tried!' before turning her attention back to Caelius. They could survive not sitting beside each other for a meeting. She'd just go give him a hug later. Right now? Candace was kind of interested in what Caelius was going to do next...even if the guy was a complete a*****e who could go jump off a cliff without a parachute.
The bickering was annoying, though. "Guys, quit it." Candace hissed, slumping in her chair after. Ugh. s**t. She shouldn't have said anything.

:: And that's why you shouldn't give a squirrel some pancakes. Bu-dum-cha! ::
Vanessa decided to simply ignore Volt as he finished another of his horrible jokes, shaking her head as if that could make him stop. She'd gotten lost on her way to this mission briefing due to Volt's antics. He'd decided that it was a perfect time to try out a joke about three sailors, a plate of pancakes, and a squirrel, which had so many turns and twists in it she couldn't even follow the joke, much less the path was taking to the meeting-place.
Noting that she had come in late, she quietly moved around the edge of the seats and picked the closest unoccupied one to sit in. She didn't want to disturb their instructor, not when she'd heard so much about him from the meet/greet/fight in the hallways.
It seemed someone was trying to steal Wilson's...was that a gask mask? That poor kid, did he really get a gas mask as his weapon? Vanessa touched the little glowing tesla-cannon-like-lantern-thing/pendant and thought to Volt calmly, 'Well, I suppose you could've been worse. A giant electrical cannon is pretty good...'
:: Awwh Vanessa. I'm practically beaming~:: This was of course a pun, due to the fact that Volt's unsummoned form usually gave off a slight glow, and it was doing so now.
'That's it. I retract my comment about you being pretty good.' Vanessa thought back to the weapon, her no-nonsense tone attached to her thoughts.
Apparently Ryan was going to solve the whole-attempted-mask-snatching by pulling the other trainee down to the chair. Vanessa gave the medic a slight nod, her way of applauding him for moving the other guy so that this 'Caelius' wouldn't kill them all.

At that point in time, as Dakota reached for the masked and missed, he wasn't entirely too focused on the pure NEED to get the thing off. What was it, like some kinda of spell? It wasn't the fact that he wanted the mask. No he wanted to know what was UNDERNEATH the boy's mask. He wanted to see the face. Was it horribly scarred? Was he actually really model like handsome? Curiousity overwhelmed him.
Chama encouraged, a low chuckle as Dakota attempted another swipe. Just as his hand grazed it though, He was pulled into the chair next to the medic and looked around. s**t.
"That was suppose to be discreet. Bro..." He looked at the medic boy, "Don't you want to know what's under there?" He looked over at the dark skinned girl before shooting her a grin, Mask forgotten. "Sup babe?"
Chama heated on his thigh, warning him of his attention wandering to the girl. Dakota sighed as he looked over at Wilson sadly. It had to wait then till the meeting was over then.
He took his index and middle finger, separating them so that he could make a motion that told the other boy that he would be watching him. Next time they meet, that mask was off and the secrets would be unveiled!
