Is it theoretically possible to somehow condense the subforums we already have rather than completely closing the guild and opening a new one? I mean, obviously we'd lose plot material still, but starting over with something is better than starting over completely from scratch... Just a thought.
Also, yeah, sorry for the absence... The slowdown in posting happened right about the time of year my depression starts flaring up, and I had a really rough time coping with it this year... By the time I was feeling at least semi-normal again, this place was pretty much the last thing on my mind... It's not that I don't love you guys or whatever, but I needed to work on my issues first, and then by the time I got back in here, the place was a ghost town... Then Kartan got ahold of me out of nowhere to say he wants to bring it back, so... Here I am.

Actually, I think it would be best to start completely from scratch.
Anything we need we would be able to take from the threads here.
It's not like we wouldn't have these threads still, but I think it would definitely be better to start from scratch and plan things out a little bit. |

Ah, so there is a faint bit of life left here. I was surprised when I saw the guild's link the first one on the My Guilds list. And no worries Kartanus, happened to me too. Not quite as long, but I've been there.
I gotta agree with Angel about starting from scratch. Its more my opinion, but based off the thinking that starting from scratch just allows you to pick and choose what to keep, what to edit, and what to omit based on the old material.
And, just an out-of-the-blue idea, perhaps some group planning with things? Like all of us get into a chatroom of some sort (like Skype or something) and we just pitch ideas. That normally works with my circle of friends who write fanfics. It just gets the cobwebs out of the head, and someone could say something that just sparks an idea. (for example: not too long ago, one of my buds called me a perverted troll because I pointed out a few sexual inuendos with his ideas, and I know he isn't a big fan of those. When he said that, after I laughed, it started to make me think of troll science and logic. Which lead to the creation of an OC who uses troll physics as a power and it works((like puting on rollarskates pointing a flashlight behind him, then turns it on and he can now travel at the speed of light.)).)
Just a suggestion. Figured I'd try anything at my disposal that could possibly help get this place out of the morgue and into happy daylight again.

Alrightie, now I wasn't actually in the guild before, but I've looked through it and I have some ideas.
Don't let any of this offend you, this is all just from my own experiences!
First of all, instead of letting people just create aliens out of the blue with no proper background, create some creatures you want to start with.
Usually, it's best to start with humans and go from there, but since it's an intergalactic setting, you're going to want one or two other species to start with.
It might be best to create two aliens races (this means appearance, traits, somewhat of a history, planet, culture) and start off with one in the beginning. Give each race the right amount of attention, maybe you could even visit their home planet when you have to restock the ship!!
Maybe have the humans involved with one, and have them meet the others soon after.
But keep things realistic!!!! Unless it's a species trait, characters really shouldn't have "powers". For example, with my character Kaida, his species can "flavour the air" with their emotions and pick up on others' emotions. This isn't really a power, it's just enhanced empathy.
I know, it sucks to not have kick-a** space powers, but it really doesn't look as cool as people like to think.
A good roleplay is kind of like a show. It has new "arcs" to keep things exciting.
Plan things out ahead of time. Halfway through one, plan out the next.
This keeps things interesting, exciting and easy to work with.
Try to keep the rp in one thread as much as you can. You don't have to make your posts pretty and in my experience a roleplay runs more smoothly when posts are simple. All of your characters should be in a different colour. If I had two characters, lets say we put them in green and blue. Someone else could use green and blue for their two, as long as any characters a person has are in a different colour from their others.
More isn't always better. Only work with as many characters as you can handle! Make sure your characters are well rounded!!
Anyway, that's all I can think of right now. I should be working on my midterm project.
