Laermeluion had just spent an hour tidying up the modest home Rinion had sung from a tree for him. He thought having two girls would mean that he would have it easy, but ... wow, they were messy!
He settled onto the couch with a cup of steaming tea in his hands, breathing in the aroma of the special elven blend he'd managed to get his hands on with he'd gone back to visit his 'family'. He'd savor this moment of peace for as long as he could ... the twins were gone, with promises to be back before nightfall or else they'd be grounded, his home was spotless once more, and he had a nice cup of strong, strong tea in his hands. What more could he possibly ask for?
In the past, he might have longed for the excitement of treasure hunting, or leading the more adventurous sort through some of the most dangerous areas of his home forest, but he'd settled into the domesticated life for now. He'd had to, there was no vacation for him, he was the only parent he had for his daughters right now.
He didn't blame Mel for leaving, far from that, and he had told 'Alwen and Tawa' about their other mother, how she'd had to go away for a little while because Mel and Lenore had had a love so deep that sometimes it just hurt so bad to lose someone that they had to go and get it taken care of. He was pretty sure that the girls harbored no ill-will toward her, he'd done the best he could to make sure that they never had a reason to. Hell, if Damien hadn't been around to help him, he might have ran away, too.... No, he understood, and didn't begrudge Mel for having to go. He only hoped that, wherever she was, she was healing and would come back soon.

Little did Laer know, that Mel had return home...
Deep within the forest, and large black cat simply stalked the ground as she makes her way towards a home she thought she could forget. Four months seem like a century to someone who stayed in animal form.
Pausing just under a rather large tree, the feline eyes dart around the clearing for a moment. When she was sure it was clear, she shifted forms. Her black fur vanishing, only to appear almost pale in color. Her black hair now down to her waist hid her emerald green eyes as she leans against the tree for a moment.
Taking a few deep breaths, she runs her finger over her wedding band. Even now, the pain was still there, but not as bad. She seem to made her peace some, knowing she was ready to move on. She wasn't sure how, if her actually wife was guiding her, but she knew it was time.
Glancing down at her ring, she shakes her head for a moment "No one will ever replace you, my heart will always belong to you." she coughs a few times, finding that talking actually hurts.

Keen elven ears, all the sharper for time spent in this forest, and the forests of his home, not to mention the tombs and caves that he had spent the bulk of his adult life in, picked up on the faint rustling under his home. Laer set his tea down on the table in front of him and waited. Was that a voice he heard? His pierced ear twitched as he listened closer; he was rewarded with the unmistakable sound of a cough.
Swiftly, silently, he went to his bow and notched an arrow in it. Carefully, he opened the front door, ready to shoot in case the intruder was not friendly. He leaned against the round frame of the door and looked around. Gray eyes fell on the pale form leaning against a tree and he frowned. "Friend or foe?" he asked, not bothering to raise his voice. He had a feeling he knew who it was, therefore the answer to his question. Still, on the off chance he was wrong, he was ready to defend his home.

Emerald green eyes darted right upward to lock on Laer's own eyes. They seem to widen for a moment, before they softened.
"Friend, and is that how you treat the mother to your children? If so...I think I will take my chances back out in the wilds." she chuckles some as she pushes away from the tree.
Pushing her hair from her face, she smiles some "Its been awhile, hasn't it?" she didn't speak anything eyes as she look over Laer. He was honestly a good thing to see at the moment, after seeing nothing but animals.
"So....can I get a hug, kiss...or anything really? Or has that too changed since I left?"

While Laer took a moment to stow his bow, he was not without weapons. Throwing knives were always concealed in little hidden sheaths sewn into all of his clothes, and there was a dagger in his right boot, easily accessible for someone with his reflexes. He didn't think he needed all that, but then again ... stranger things had happened to him in his lifetime. There were all sorts of shape-shifting creatures, including ones that could shift into people you cared about.
He easily made his way down to the forest floor and cautiously made his way toward Mel. Well, if she was in a teasing mood, he supposed he could tease back. "You can only get a hug," he said, his usual crooked smile slowly making an appearance as his arms went around her.
When he pulled away, his stormy eyes met her emerald ones, and he said, "We missed you around here." He did his best to keep his little ability in check when he spoke, as he honestly didn't want to put Mel into some sort of trance.

Resting her hands on Laer's chest, Mel chuckles as she glances away "I figured it was time to come home, now that I made my peace with things." resting her forehead against his chest, she takes in a long deep breath "I missed you, quite alot."
She didn't care that she sounded strange for saying it, it was true. Next to her wife, Laer was the next person who she cared about.
Looking back up at him, she lifts her hand to brush at his hair "So, you gonna invite an old friend up? Or do I get to sleep outside tonight?" she was home yes, but she wasn't ready to go back to the manor at the moment.
She had to build up the strength for that adventure at least.

He actually had to think about it for a moment. He didn't want to spring her appearance on Tawa' or 'Alwen, but he very well couldn't keep her away from her own daughters, let alone keep her away from a place to stay.
"Of course you can come up," he said. "The girls aren't home, so you shouldn't be overwhelmed." He felt he should warn Mel, at least about 'Alwen. He was used to it and sometimes how closely she looked like Lenore jarred him a little bit, he didn't want to just spring it on her.
But, he had time before they came home. They liked to cut it close, so they wouldn't be home until the sun was just a sliver on the horizon. "There's food, or something to drink, if you like?" he offered as he led her toward the roughly-made footholds that led up to the house.

Mel actually paused for a moment when Laer talked about the girls. It hadn't dawned on her that she would see them for the first time. Looking down at the ground, she shakes her head "All the things I have missed, I shouldn't have lefted." shaking her head once again, she attempts a smile as she looks back at Laer.
"How are they? I mean, they must be amazing girls." they had to be, afterall look who their parents were. Not to mention the family they have right?
Pausing at the foothold, Mel turns towards Laer as she chuckles "You know, its strange to see you with your own home. You never seem like the settle down type to me." turning, she makes her way up the stairs "So who hearts have you been breaking these days?"

A million things ran through his mind as they climbed up toward the house, and all of the replies that popped into his head sounded, to him at least, as though he resented the fact that she'd left him alone to raise their twins. Clearly, he did not resent her, and he didn't want her to think for one second that he did, so he felt that he would need to say that before he went any further.
When they finally reached the porch, which wrapped around the whole of the trunk of the huge tree, he started, "Mel, I want you to know before I say anything else that I am not mad at you, I don't resent that you had to leave. I know, I understand, that people have to deal with things in their own ways. So, no matter how I respond to anything you might ask, I don't want you to think that I am holding anything against you."
He held the door open for her, and started to move toward the things that she'd asked. "Firstly, the girls are ... yes, they're amazing. They're completely different people, and they couldn't look less alike. But, I think they still have that bond that twins have ..." he paused again, fell into a thoughtful silence. Finally, "I can call them and tell them to stay with Damien tonight if you want to hold off on meeting them, Mel. There's no pressure, I've made sure that they understand that you did not abandon them. Their only thought, as far as I can tell, is that they hope you feel better soon and that they can meet you someday."
Deftly, he avoided her last question.

Mel thought it over for a moment, almost happy to hear that neither the girls or he for that matter, hated her. Looking away, she runs a hand through her hair as she laughs "Maybe it would be for the best if I didn't see them just yet. Not that I don't want to, just...I don't want to over do it I guess?" she wasn't lying in that matter. Even being here with Laer, in his home was messing with her mind at the moment.
Then again, four months as an animals tends to do that.
With a tilts of the head, she turns her eyes on him once more "You know, you didn't answer my last question? Or did you by simply not answering it?" she grins at him before she gasps "Or is there someone here, and I have to be careful...after all, she might get mad?"
Yes, after all this time...Mel finally found a sense of humor.

He dodged the question once more as he reached into his pocket and pulled out a mobile phone. Quickly, he texted 'Alwen, Tawa' and Damien, letting them know of the change of plans. He had to carefully word the texts to his daughters, but he was honest with Damien as to the reasons why he needed the girls to stay here. Good thing they already had rooms set up, otherwise Damien might kill him....
He turned his attention back to Mel and leaned back against the high, long table along the wall in the spacious living room. "You're really not going to let up on that, are you?" Laer asked, shaking his head and crossing his arms over her chest. He then puffed out a breath and bit the bullet, "Mel, I was raising two girls, do you really think I had time to go out and break some hearts?" he asked with a good-natured laugh.

Mel chuckles as she shrugs some "I heard kids draw the women, so yea...maybe. Now, was that so hard to answer?" turning away from him, she eyes the rest of his humble home, rather curious about things. She was actually looking for maybe a picture or two, rather curious as to what they girl ages were.
After a moment, she gives up only to turn towards Laer "So, think I could borrow your shower? Or do I have to sneak in while your using it?" at the moment, she give anything to get rid of the knots through out her body, and not to mention feel clean again.

Laer hadn't been leaning against that table for no reason, for behind him there were frames upon frames of the girl's growth progress. The ones he was covering were the more recent ones, like some candids he'd shot of Damien and 'Alwen sparring, or the girls rolling their eyes and waving at him as they left for their morning jog. He was completely covering one of the both of them grinning for the camera, an arm around each other as they posed in ways that clearly spoke to their differing personalities.
He couldn't help but smile when heard her question about the shower. "My bathroom is down the hall, last door on the left," he said before pushing off of the table and striding over to his now room temperature tea. He took a sip from it before he added, "There are fresh towels in the cabinet in the bathroom. Help yourself."

"Thanks, I'll be out soon." making her way down the hall, Mel pauses as she peeks into Laer room, then the other two rooms. They were the girls, without a shadow of a doubt. Stepping into the first room, her eyes roman the display of feathers and scales. Finding she couldn't help but wonder which twin was this...?
And why were they not in cribs....?
Paling for a moment, she takes a step out of the room before slipping into the bathroom. How much has she missed?
Turning the water on, she pulls off her jeans and top before stepping into the shower, The water cascading down her body as her hair covers it like a sheet.

For lack of anything better to do, Laer settled onto the couch, his feet propped up on the coffee table in front of him as he sipped at his tea. He reached for the book he had been preparing to read and opened it up while he waited for Mel to come out of the shower.
And, then, he hoped that the girls got his text before they decided to made their way home....
