What is expected of me?
It's simple, really- 1. Follow gaia's TOU 2. Be a good roleplayer 3. Don't be a jackass 4. Post in your games regularly
How do I do these things? 1. Speaks for itself 2. Show some skill and originality in your posts. When you create a character, you determine their personality, and you should act as though the character is completely seperate from you, the player. I, for example, am not a criminal in real life, but I could play a bloodthirsty murderer convincingly if I had to. 3. Dont' godmod, munchkinize, or power-avatar. If you are taking away from the fun of other players you are a bad roleplayer. If you make your character have flaws, they are much more fun to play than a godlike character. 4. If nothing's going on, plot-wise, sharpen your sword, check your compass, eat a snack, whatever! When you are posting, we know you are here.

I'm in, how do I play?
That's up to the thread creator. Most of the time, however, you will make an initial post, about your character getting ready for the day (or night, depending), being exiled from their home, or anything else to get them introduced into the story. After that, you should be trying to write your part of the story. Make it interesting. If your character is searching for a lost loved one, an interesting paralell might be to suddenly leave the group and pursue a lead, seperate from the main plot. If you are playing multiple characters, be sure to use different color for each of their actions, so as not to get confusing. RP etiquette states that ooc (out of character) text should be enclosed in double parentheses, like this: (( I'm speaking out of character, Lookit me! )) also, some games offer a seperate OOC thread, usually for recruiting. OOC is the only place to use chat-speak. Because we're literate here...

What if I want to make my own game?
Glad you asked. There are a few things to consider when making a game, including: Setting Basic Plotline Maximum number of characters Referee/GM or Freeform? (note: refereed and GMed games are usually more civilized. The GM or whoever made the thread describes locations, events, and controls the NPCs, while in freeform, it's everyone's game. If you are playing a GMed game, don't control anything other than your own character(s). The weather, enemy soldiers, and so on are all the GMs responsibility and not yours.)
All there is to do after that is to make a game thread, post any specific rules, character creation guidelines, and other helpful info. Until we get enough Gold in the coffer for seperate subforums for each Genre of rp, please try to include what the Genre is in the title.
