I am hosting my very first poetry contest!

The prize of 10k will be granted to the poem I think best describes the topic

Topic:
Love and Obsession

You can take the topic wherever you'd like. Tell me the difference, how would a lunatic handle love, what the price of obsession is, anything really.

I like dark and heartbreaking poems, words that stick in my head. However, poems are about relating, and I can absolutely relate to anything that isn't dark. But I'm picky fyi biggrin

Muted Cries

I'm sick of keeping this secret from you
I'm sick of hiding all the things that I do
I'm tired of being that guy that you knew
And it's time for a change so let's rearrange
All these pieces in our little game.
I'll even let you win if you remember my name..

I'm so tired of trying
I'm so tired of lying
I'm so tired of making all those mistakes
Every time i see your face, and every time i see those eyes
Can you hear my muted cries?!

but the fluency is a little choppy in the first few lines, and i didnt really understand the fifth

Death did

I tried to do,
I tried to see,
but sadness always gets to me,
even though you spreaded wings,
even though you're with the king,
the sadness always stabs my heart,
a very painful broken shard,
the words, the feelings, the grief and despair,
is tons more pain than ripped out hair,
agony is easy, the wings of death is hard
but I know the words your eternal voice echoed,
Even though death did us part,
forever and ever I'll stay in your heart

FurryPsychoBunny: i liked it, but some of the lines sounded very generic and common. Did not appeal to me directly, but i think you have the right idea

Right In Front Of You

You search and search, yet you don't understand.
I am here,
There is no need to try and find Neverland.
And yet, you're still looking, because you don't know,
That I'm right here,
You don't have to search in the cold, cold snow.
You forgot about me, I do believe,
But I'm still here,
Happiness isn't something you need to achieve.
You need to let it find you,
And I've found you.
So why are you still searching?

i kinda like it, but it didnt seem to flow when i read it aloud
your poem also sounds a little forced because of the rhyme scheme

I watch you,
You're beautiful in every way.
Yet you always belong to someone else,
Never to me.
All those kisses to others' lips,
But those will end.
For tonight,
I shall make you mine,
Never to belong to anyone,

In the shadows

Looking Back

I stare at your face
Dreaming my dreams.
Wishing you were mine,
I curse my love.

My face is ugly
No doubt about that.
How could it not
With a hole for a nose?

You've said over and over
It's my heart that's disfigured
Instead of my face.

I may love you, my darling,
With all my heart and more,
But with some things I must say
I just don't believe you.
