Personality: A bright mare, she has "motherly" qualities but is still a very young mare by horse standards. She enjoys the nature around her, and of course, enjoys butterflies--especially (surprise surprise) monarchs, for which she was named after. She is a very determined type of character; no matter what the goal, she will see it to its end.

History: She and her younger sister Blossom found their way into the Cimarron one day, loving the atmosphere and wildness of the area. Monarch fell in love with a silly (rather pink-ish!) stallion named Calcite who had first approached her one early evening, and the two could not take their eyes off each other. After a few scoldings about his behavior, Monarch realized that they both had had love at first sight. So with careful watch, she keeps Calcite under control. Calcite is more than happy to keep his eyes on her, however, and she's rather happy with that.
