I'm a first time mum to my 4 week old son, and I've noticed that he doesn't always like to settle the same way.
Sometimes he falls asleep while feeding.
Sometimes he falls asleep in his pram (and then he'll be zonked for hours and wake up hungry).
Sometimes he's grizzle a bit in his Moses basket after I've changed, fed and winded him, then eventually after much dummy dropping, mini tantrums, and me replacing his dummy, he'll nod off by himself.
Other times he'll scream and wail til I rock him in my arms and he falls asleep on me.

My partner says I shouldn't let him fall asleep in my arms because he'll start only wanting to fall asleep that way. I feel like I can't win in that situation because he complains that it's annoying when our son cries, then when I do the only thing that consoles him (holding and rocking him to sleep) he still complains.
Surely there's nothing wrong with giving my baby affection when it's what he wants?

He is four weeks old tell your hubby/boyfriend to hush.

Get your son into a routine yeah he may seem to little but trust me it will make you sane!

When he wakes up change his diaper, Make sure he is happy, then feed him.
He should be eatting every hour -3 hours sometimes 2.
At the age he is now after he eats he should quiet down then go to sleep or just lay there.

If you wanna do what your boyfriend says and not hold him every time he is upset get a bouncer and put some blankets on his sides so he feels like he is in a closed in space which is one reason why he wants held or get one of those heart beat bears. But I think that holding him right now would be best that way he knows you will be there for him.
Just get him settled because it will get better biggrin

Husband is probably feeling a little neglected, abused, and ignored with all the attention that a new baby needs - I think I read somewhere that those parents who weren't averaging about 50% of the care feel that way - and he needs to adjust if just for YOUR sake. Most pediatricians I asked said that you really can't spoil a baby until they are between 2 and 3 years old and that the more attention and bonding time the babies get early the less trouble they are when they are older - the more relaxed and content with themselves!
But don't forget hubby's ego either!
