This will just be a short one.
I had a blast in Thailand! No doubt about that. Later this week, I'll discuss it, along with what's happened since Dubai. It's a lot to take in, that's for sure.
Something that came out of it. I got to ride an elephant! That was so awesome to do! I'm really happy I was able to do that. But it made me reflect a little.
If you haven't already noticed, I really loved my grandma. She was just such an awesome person to be around. Even if she attacked with her patented "talons of death", she was still cool!
She loved elephants. If you'd walk into her room, you'd see her window sill covered in little elephant statues, nick nacks that we all got her over the years. She just loved them tons. She would've loved Thailand in that regard.
I rode the elephant, and they guy offered to take a pic. I agreed, and he did. I have it in my backpack now. I have some other pics too. All are very cool. I was thinking, that if she was still around, I'd giver her those pictures, because it had 2 of her favorite things: elephants, and me.
I didn't get an elephant statue or anything like that, just the pictures. I think I made a mistake in that regard.
I'm gonna start collecting those little statues now. I'm gonna start small, then work my way up. Nothing too big, but it'll be cool. I think she'd love that.
But there is a picture with me, really happy on that elephant. I'm glad I have that.
Grandma, that picture's for you. I hope you can see it, and take great joy in it!
I'll be home on the 21st. I hope to see you all there.
Until then.
Tony

So, like I said, I'll now tell you all what's happened since my trip to Dubai.
Dubai sucked, yet kind of cool. It sucks because it's sooooooo hot! It's kind of cool because of some of the things you can see. First day was pretty fun. Spent that day wandering around, seeing stuff. They dropped us off at the mall, which was like the biggest mall in the world. I believe them. There was pretty much anything and everything there. We took some pretty cool pics there. Outside, a little walk away, was the world's tallest building too! We took a picture of the whole thing. Remember in Zelda: wind waker, where you can see the castle tower from waaaaaaay far away? Yeah, it was like that.
That night, we went to a party hosted by our CO and stuff. We had an open bar. Good times.
The second day was boring. Mostly phone calls home and stuff. Hurray for that! Ate some good food, but nothing else, really. Then we continued our operation!
Our job started to suck worse from there. 2 incidents, which made things much worse. 8 hour workdays, to start. Then harsh maintenance restrictions. That sucked. There was also more supervision and admin stuff to have to do.
And then we mess up about a few days before thailand. It just looks really bad at that point. But nothing worse came out of it, for which I'm very glad.
Thailand. That was soooo awesome! Day one was a bunch of relaxing, eating good food, got measured for suits, and stuff. Food was awesome! My buddie got this guinness pie, which was a very delicious meat pie. But it was HUGE!! There was no way it could be finished! After that, we drank! xD I apparently ended my night early, but don't remember because I blacked out. Funny thing is, I didn't act different or anything like that.
Second day was cool. More food and stuff. Spent time talking to friends and making a few phone calls. Like Boss-lady! She sounds cool. ^^ But after that, a little more drinking, and some good food. Went to this out of the way restaurant on a secluded beach, away from everything on the island! That food was just absolutely delicious!! I loved that food! My main dish was lobster! Always a great choice, I think! After the food, some more wandering, and then I called it a night a little early, getting McDonalds on my way home. Was pretty good too. I didn't go straight to sleep, though. Made a TON of phone calls too! I got to talk to everybody I wanted to as well!!! It was awesome!
The third day was just pointless wandering, and a little drinking until we left for our duty day. Nothing much else besides. OH, we say a muay thai fight!!! That was the best!!! 9 fights, with tons of hits and action to boot!
The last day, though, was the best day!! Started off with breakfast, which was good! Then elephant riding!!! Scary, since I hate heights, but a blast! We then went around the island to do gokarts, and that was very cool. After that, we saw a cobra show!! Those people are CRAZY!! Lol. After that, we made it back to the main area, looked around a bit, and made it to a little bar. We drank, played pool and connect four and jenga. And it was fairly empty, so very, very nice! After that, I got some massage oil (for a friend :3) and picked up our suits. After one last drink and some kebobs, we headed out for the ship.
Now we're on our way, heading home!! It's been quite great, that's for sure. Workdays are over, so very nice! And now I'm just relaxing as much as I can. I'm officially on drill team now, so I'm the one training the new guys as they stand more watch and stuff.
Which it's now time for the drill brief. As always, thanks for reading. I hope to hear from you all in Hawaii!!
14 days away!!!!
Until then!
Tony

October 10, 2009
The last week has been quite the trip. Not because of work, but because of everything that's gone on.
The point is, I'm not mad at anyone. And I definitely don't hate anyone either. That's the absolute truth.
To be honest, I was hurt. I'll still be for a while. But, I decided to keep at it, as I'm not the kind of guy to quit. I didn't before, so why should I now?
Although, there is one guy mad at me. He does hate my guts with a passion. To him, I wanna say I'm sorry. This is like the third time I'm apologizing to you, but I mean it. I hope someday you can talk to me, and that we can at least settle our differences.
I have 4 days until Hawaii! That's gonna be awesome! But of course, there's drills each night until then. It can't be helped, but I'm sure it'll be just fine.
but 12 days until Home!!! Homecoming will be a blast! I know a friend is gonna come spend a couple days with me, and we're gonna have a great time! And then I'm gonna visit another friend, and have a great time there too!!! Good times ahead!
Well, it was short, but I really have nothing else to put out for now. But I'll definitely see you guys later!!! And call some of you too! mrgreen
Until next time!
Tony
