So, the first episode just aired last night. Judging from the rhetoric I've been hearing, opinions seem to be divided concerning the dub. Apparently, not many people like Karen Strassman's portrayal of Kallen Stadtfeld, and quite a few think that Johnny Yong Bosch and Yuri Lowenthal should have swapped roles.
Personally, though, I think the dub was just fine the way it was. Also, Kallen got the best line of the entire episode.

I loved it, I mean ok having never seen/read it I guess I had no previous guesses or assumptions for roles. But I really liked it.

I just watched it on the AS website. I've also never seen the original sub, but I can say that I thoroughly enjoyed myself. Could be because I love Johnny Yong Bosch a ton, but eh. I thought it was well done, over all.

I saw it too. But on Adult Swim. It was well acted, that's for sure. Yay Johnny xD I just hope it can live up to that first episode. I've never seen the anime before, but that first episode? Epic. So uh.. aside the acting, I think it's just whether or not the anime can live up to the expectation it laid out in the first episode.
As for the acting, I think it'll be fine.

I've heard from others that it gets more interesting after the first episode; but it was also coming from the mouths of big fans, so it's not entirely unbiased. We'll see.
But Johnny Johnny Johnny... Oh Johnny XD

Finally watched episode 2. Getting bored during mech fights... hopefully that picks up.
And I'm not saying the mech fights are bad. They just in general bore me.

The mecha fights were actually decent in my view, but if they're not your cup of tea, then so be it.
Is it just me, or does Johnny Yong Bosch sound like he's at home in the cockpit of a Knightmare, giving orders to the Japanese resistance? When he's actually at Ashford Academy, he sounds bored out of his wits for the most part.

I think that's supposed to be the point; Lelouch wants to destroy Brittania, he's just sort of putting up with school for show. I think Johnny's doing a good job in that regard.

I'm living with false hope
And my eyes just want to see a ray of light
I'm gonna find it in my fairy tale...
Ugh... this girl in my school who prefers subs but usually doesn't have a problem with dubs... she agrees with me that Lloyd sounds so much better in English, but she just won't shut up about how she thinks Nunnally's voice is going to ruin the ending. She's going to be so annoying with it on Monday, I can tell. Nunnally sounded a bit older in the last one (R2 episode 5). Which is good. Because guess what? She's 15 years old! She shouldn't sound like a little kid anymore, especially since now she's going to be acting a lot more mature than she was when she was always clinging onto her big brother.
Sorry, that was just my little rant.
