Hello, my name is Advenna. I’m fifteen and my world is probably different from yours.
There’s no way we are alike in anyway.
My world is a world where the impossible becomes possible. Vampires, lycanthropes, weird hybrid creations of both, anything is possible.
My parents were always strange. Always gone, always late coming home but I never new why. I always wondered why, then I found my mom’s journal, and everything changed…
1:
“I’m home” Advenna walked into the empty house. She sighed and headed for the kitchen and saw the note on the table. She knew what it said but she leaned over to read it anyway.
‘Sorry, honey, but Dad and me are going to be late coming home. We’re bringing dinner home. See you soon. ‘
“Like always.” Advenna murmured. “They’re never home.” She climbed up to her bedroom, set her backpack on the floor and collapsed on the bed. Her long black hair trailed off the side of the bed and swept the floor. There, Belle, her kitten, played with it.
She gazed into her parent’s bedroom, where the door hung open. She knew the room, she had often slept in it when she was younger. But now she wondered, had her parents changed since she was last in there? Had they added something new that she didn’t know about?
“No.” she turned away from the open door. “I won’t go into my parents room.” But try as she might, curiosity got the best of her and she went into her parent’s room. She searched the room carefully, careful to put everything in it’s exact place.
Soon the whole room had been searched, except for her mother’s drawer. Advenna carefully opened the drawer. Right on top, was a black journal with ‘M’ on the front.
“This wasn’t here before.” Advenna pulled it out and read the rest of the writing. It was written in a red marker and shouted: ”Miche’s Notebook: Don’t Touch!”
“Advenna, we’re home.” Her parents shouted from downstairs. Advenna took the book and quickly went into her room again. She slid the book under her bed just as her father came to her room.
“Come down stairs, we got Chinese take-out. ”He smiled. ”Mom told me how much you wanted some, so here it is.”
“ Thanks, Dad.” Advenna jumped up from the bed and followed her dad downstairs to where her mom was.
But instead of in the kitchen, her mom was in the study on the phone. She hung up just as they came in. Without a word, she walked back into the kitchen. Advenna and her father exchanged looks and followed Mrs. Wright into the dining room.
“What’s wrong, Miche?” Her father went up to her and put his arms around her. “ Is something wrong, ma petite?”
“Non, I’m just a little tired.” She kissed him softly on the cheek. Then she turned and walked back into the kitchen. “ If we wait any longer, our food will be ice cold.” She laughed and everyone else joined her, easing away the tension in the room.
While at dinner, Advenna’s mind kept running back to the journal. Why was her mom’s name on it and what secret could she have to hide that she didn’t want anyone to find it? Her mom had never tried to keep secrets before, why now?
‘Obviously Mom is more than she pretends to be.’ Advenna concluded. ‘and I’m going to find out what her secret is.’
