Many people (like me) came across this picture in 1996 and rejoyced greatly.
This was actually a fake, created (coincidentally enough) by a substitute math teacher at my high school.
Well, now we can say it was preliminary advertising!
Pending the success of the Transformers film (and by all sneak peak accounts it is fantabulous), other old-school violence-peddling awesome cartoons will be made into live-action full feature-length films.
THUNDERCATS is slated to release in 2009!!!!!
GI Joe in 2010
and He Man (a new one, not a remake of Masters of the Universe) sometime in between

According to Wikipedia, the film was optioned by WB as a CGI film expounding on the origin story of the Thundercats (the first 4 eps, I think).
According to the official movie website (thank you WB for being so overly-a**l-retentive) http://www.thundercatsthemovie.com/ the release date is 6.12.09
The current script is by Paul Sopocy. By all accounts I can find, the Wily twins won't be in the film (could be wrong, someone prove me wrong, poor Cheetara).

I'm gonna keep this going. One of you will have to jump in eventually.
So...
My picks for voices:
unfortunately, due to the untimely demise of cast members
(Earl Hammond - Jaga, Mumm-Ra, Vultureman, Tug-Mug, Amok
Bob McFadden - Snarf, Snarfer, Slithe)
the original crew is unlikely, though we can all pray Larry Kenny will still be doing adult Lion-o and Earle Hyman will be doing Panthro.
If neither of them or Lynne Lipton (Cheetara, Wily Kit) wanna get involved, here's my top pick.
Lion-o - (adult) Karl Urban (Doom, LoTR, Patherfinder)
Pathro - Vin Desel (and he's nerd enough to do it cheap too)
Jaga - Keith David (Goliath from Gargoyles, Arbitor from Halo 2)
Tigra - Adam Baldwin (or anyone else man enough to make him not so ghey)
Cheetara - Milla Jovovich or Claire Danes (what can I say, I liked her in Mononoke Hime)
Snarf - that's a toughie, but I'm gonna go with either Alan Tuddick or Robin Williams
I got nothing for young Lion-o or the twins (if they're even in it).
