((Okay. Even though I have no idea what's going on. I'll post. >___>))

Kouden sat down on a bench, he blinked lazily and watched people walk past, Kouden wondered how the world could just keep going when everything that was happening, happened? Why didn't the world stop when everything hit? 'Why did I have to be born this way?' He thought and gritted his teeth, but quickly stopped when his fangs scraped across his gums. He quickly swallowed the blood from the wound so it would not drip out of his mouth, he sighed and leaned his head into his hand in deep thought.

Aida's search for information on the vampire's ball had proved fruitless. Either nobody knew where it was taking place, or nobody wanted to talk about it. One person actually laughed when she had asked for information.

"Are you serious? Look, lady, if you expect to find a job attacking the vampires, you're out of your mind. Running into a party full of vampires is just suicide. Nobody is going out the day of the ball. If you care to live at all, I suggest you do the same."

The man didn't know that she had actually been hoping to get a job as a security guard at the ball, but she wasn't about to tell him that. It was extremely risky, but what fun was a job if there wasn't danger involved? It wasn't like she was planning to stick around anyway. Besides, what better way to learn about your enemy than to join their ranks? The only problem was finding out just where this grand party was and convincing a vampire to hire her. Of course, if she did happen to find a job infiltrating the place that paid well, she'd consider that offer, but all these spineless men were too busy cowering in their homes to even consider an attack on the vampires.

Aida got back to her feet, flinging her cigarette into the street. She was ready to get back on her motorcycle when she heard somebody behind her. Grabbing her gun, she whirled around.

"Those things smell atrocious, you know." The vampire grinned, revealing his white fangs. "I can't imagine at all they taste any better."

Aida didn't lower her gun. "A vampire worried about my smoking habits? How sweet."

The vampire held his hands up. "Just looking out for your health. A mercenary who runs out of breath quickly is not one worth hiring." He had a deep but smooth voice to accompany his smile and pale but otherwise attractive face. He was clearly a master of seduction, probably preferring to play with his food a bit before sinking his teeth in.

"What do you want?"

The vampire's grin widened. "I have come to make you an offer, lady mercenary. I know of your abilities, and we have need of top-quality guards. The well-known Aida will take any job that pays well, will she not?"

Aida lowered her gun, but not her guard. "Looking to hire a human to play bodyguard at your little party? You must be desperate. Or is there a special coronation ceremony before I take the job? Sorry, but I don't like all-liquid diets."

"Come now, we are simply looking for somebody willing to take on the job. I am well aware that you have killed our kind, but am willing to set that aside momentarily. All we need is a guard, and all you need is a job. No strings attached, all prejudices aside. Of course, we can pay you quite handsomely depending on your performance. So, what do you say, Aida?"

It was silent for a moment while the mercenary considered. No doubt this vampire had a hidden agenda, but he was offering her money and at the moment, he was the only one. "Alright. I'll stand guard at your party, provided you pay me part of the cash before hand, and the rest the moment it is over."

"But of course. Don't worry, nobody will try to snack on you while you are in service. A freshly born vampire doesn't make a good guard anyhow. You may even find you would like to remain in my employment." His fangs flashed as he grinned for what seemed to be the umpteenth time and pulled what appeared to be a business card from inside his velvet black cloak. Holding it out between his index and middle finger, he took two fluid steps towards Aida. "Here is the address. Should you be unable to find me when you arrive, ask for Verleid." His grin faded as he wrinkled his nose in disgust. "And leave your...habit behind when you come, I wouldn't want the stench to keep away the guests."

Aida pocketed the card, tempted to blow smoke in the vampire's face if not for the fact she had already tossed her cigarette and she didn't want the action to lower her eventual pay. Without another word, she got on her motorcycle and took off, leaving Verleid behind.

The vampire chuckled to himself as he watched Aida go. She was such an interesting human, not afraid to throw herself into a party full of vampires who wouldn't give second thought to biting her, and all for money. She was talented for a human, and would do well. Besides, if they had her on their side, that would be one less person attempting to crash their party. The vampires could handle any humans that decided to show up uninvited, but having to exterminate cockroaches during a party wasn't fun. Of course, he would keep his end of the deal. As long as she was acting as a guard at the ball, no vampire would be permitted to touch her. Whatever happened afterwards, however, he could not promise.

Faer sighed as the door to her room closed. She sagged aginst it, all of a sudden feeling really drained. They had no idea what that dampening Wastelander shield was actually doing to her. In her core her Void magic was eating away, pulling at her continuously, threatening to destroy her. She barely had it under control.

Inhaling deeply through her nose she clenched her jaw and delved deep inside herself. Feeling so insecure of her power was dangerous to the entire area. It made her afraid to know she could destroy everything in the blink of an eye. Inside herself she fell into a well of latent yet roiling power. Slowly she beat it back through iron will. She didn't want to lose everything again. And if she let it loose, she would be the end of her kind.

Opening her honey eyes she sighed and pushed her hair back. It was time to get ready for the infiltration. Slowly, her steps silent, she reached the bathroom. Reaching into the tub she turned on the bath water to a steaming level. She watched as it filled and added some oils that she had brought, it was a light mixture of lavendar and myrhh.

Her foot slipped into the water and she quickly sunk into it. She washed her skin methodically, making sure she got every inch so no one would smell the blood on her skin that seemed to never go away. Occasionally she would have dreams truly terrifying, reminding her of the olden times, of cruel times, of great times. She had learned at an early age not to love. It only hurt her so much more. A stab of pain reminded her and she closed her eyes and leaned back, letting the smell of myrhh and lavendar calm her, in and out.

She climbed out of the tub eventually, in her human form and looked in the mirror with a towel wrapped around herself. "Maybe. Don't delude yourself. I mean look at you. You're obviously insane, talking to yourself." In her mind came the old inhumanly cackle of her old master as her friend, her lover, was killed with his hands.

Combing her hair silently she was surprised to find her hands were trembling, silently she began to curse, until they grew extremely loud and profane. Why in the nine hells was she so nervous and weak?! She curled them into fists and punched the mirror, which burst into shards. From her hand came blood. Well, it couldn't technically be called blood. It was a greyish blue in color, another evidence of her non-human species. Angrily she fisted her hair and began working it into elaborate curls and braids. From these curls and braids a bun began to form. It was tight and from it cascaded large and wavy locks.

Looking close into the mirror she pulled her makeup bag from the ground and began to work. Her honey eyes she amplified with icy blue shadow and a lash extender and curler. It made her face almost as mysteriously beautiful as her fey form. She created a rosy blush on her cheeks, making her seem ever younger. Her lips she painted a pale pink, not unlike her cheeks. Stepping back she agreed that she looked perfect.

Walking out of the bathroom she looked at the dress hung up and decided it was too modest. Wrapping herself in veils of Void she went back to her abode away from all of the mess. Climbing into the uppermost level of her house, to a sparsely decorated attic, she pulled out something she had sworn never to wear again. Her uniform in the olden days. She slipped it on carefully, thankful that she remembered how everything went. Then she returned to the wastelanders and walked into the ballroom.

"Are we ready to leave yet?" Her head was cocked slightly in assent.

Her face, looked positively angelic, her eyes shining from her face, the almond eyes accentuated by liner, and the blue making them all the brighter. Her body, looked positively devilish, the sign of a true courtesan. She had a leather bodice, if it could be even called that. It was made of straps that barely covered her ample bosom and wound around her waist, leaving bare the uppermost of her chest and her stomach. The skirt was long and made of satin with slits all the way up to the top of her hip. From it you could see impossibly high stilettos, shoes that someone shouldn't be able to walk in, with straps like that of a ballet dancer, winding all the way up her legs and hooking into what could be known as the leggings of lingerie.

"Forgive my change of wardrobe, I thought this would fit so much more."

Kelbora had left Dion to recuperate from his "feminine overload", and had already shed herself of that uncomfortable dress and showered. She hated baths and never took more than 5 minutes to get herself clean, unless of course she was covered in more blood and gore than a simple rinse and scrub could remove.

Being in the vicinity of an exploding body tended to leave quite the mess.

Kelbora dressed in the proper under garments, and was brushing out her long golden hair before redoing her complicated hair-do, which was a combination of complex braids and twists that left her neck bare. One of the easiest ways to attract a vampire's attention and seduce him was to flash a lot of neck, sort of like an open invitation.

And yes, vampires did bite each other but usually for recreational purposes, not feeding.

The vampiress placed a thin gold chain around her neck with an Imperial Pendent dangling from it to show her "support" for the Empire. She had acquired this particular piece from the very neck of one of the nobles who would have been invited to this ball were she not missing her head and heart a few years before the event. Kelbora had kept the items in case they should prove useful in a covert mission...like this one.

Though she never imagined she'd be getting into a dress and heels again.

After lightly applying that dreadful make up and last few articles of jewelry, such as the emerald earrings, ring, and bracelet that matched the Imperial Pendent set, she checked herself in the mirror one more time. They had to look like nobility, which meant rich and tastefully gaudy. She pulled it off, though would be considered conservative among this lot they were infiltrating, and finally bent her knee upon a stool to slip on and secure the stilettos to her feet.

She would never understand the average woman's fascination with these things.

Finally the vampiress was done and she walked out of the dressing chamber, entering her room that connected to Dion's. She was about to just open the door when she stopped and realized how inconsiderate she had been to Dion since they first met...Especially now since she was still a bit rattled from the "human episode" from earlier.

She sighed and cocked her hip as she lightly knocked on the door, "Colonel, may I enter?" She said and crossed her arms, waiting from Dion to answer.
