You know the drill. These threads are everywhere. I myself would encourage actual conversation about music within the thread, and discussion of songs posted by others. You can expand your mind so far just by listening to a huge variety of music.
So, kiddies, what're you listening to?
+ And, if you can help it, I think it would be really cool, and not to mention less confusing, if we post our stuffs in the same format I've got going in the next post. You don 't have to make a comment about what you're hearing, but it's always nice to have a bit of information along with what you're posting--gets people thinking, "maybe I will listen to that."

Comeback Kid "False Idols Fall," Album Wake the Dead. (2005)
I really, really liked not only this song, but the whole album. It was a good clue as to what Comeback Kid is all about, to me. This album got me through a really rough time, And if it interests you, Comeback Kid is based in Manitoba, I think. I totally wrote them a letter, but I don't know if they got it.
My favorite line in this song: "All my heroes are dead."

Mr. President "Coco Jamboo," Album We See the Same Sun. (1996)
This song made me laugh a lot. Apparently, these guys are a well-known Euro-dance band. Have any of you guys heard of them? xDD This song was from their second album. These guys have been around since '95.
In 1997, they reproduced Coco Jamboo as Coco Jamboo Chirstmas, But I think it was only officially released in Japan.

Now I have to go on a magical quest to find that song in the next hour, because I told myself I'd listen to everything posted in this thread, and try and expand myself as much as I could. Too bad that's obscure as all hell. D: *Searches*

I found a lot about Neurotic Fish in my large searches last night, but couldn't get downloads or a full listen-to. I got clips from four Gelb songs on Myspace, but they were really short, and it pissed me off. So far, I decided, "The Bomb" was what I liked best. But I checked on VF, and I couldn't find their damned page. I'll need a link. D:
Rise Against "Prayer of the Refugee," Album The Sufferer and the Witness (2007)
I adore this song. Just adore it. Obviously, it's a new hit, and a hit it is with me. I heard it on the radio, and went nuts. It's really a great song, regardless of the mediocre station I heard it on. Also, Rise Against has a really cute short into on their homepage. It's worth checking out, to those of you who have flash. Just a two second thing, but I like it. ^^;
Here's some lyric, which I think are cool:
"We are the angry and the desperate, The hungry, and the cold, We are the ones who kept quiet, And always did what we were told.
But we’ve been sweating while you slept so calm, In the safety of your home. We’ve been pulling out the nails that hold up Everything you’ve known.
Don’t hold me up now, I can stand my own ground, I don’t need your help now, You will let me down, down, down!"

Iron Maiden "Mother Russia," Album No Prayer for the Dying. (1990)
The finale of their umpteenth album, and written by Steve Harris himself. It should be noted that this song can't be about the fall of the USSR, since it was written in 1990, and Soviet Russia fell in 1991.
Now, check out this lyric snippet:
Mother Russia Dance of the Tsars Hold up your heads Remember who you are Can you release The anger / The grief Can you be happy Now your people are free?
Russia's people weren't exactly free at that time. In fact, two days after the release of this album, East Germany was "reunified with the federal republic," and nations including Poland and Hungary were becoming democratic countries. All around her seemed freedom, and not a drop of it for the "Mother Russia."

Radiohead "Talk Show Host" Album William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet (1996)
I love this song. I had on replay for like 3 days. Kind of like floating. Simple, and sad if you need it to be. But also enlightening, or empowering. It's interpretation. It's a beautiful song.
The lyrics are a bit twisty though.
"I want to... I want to be someone else or I'll explode. Floating apon the surface for the birds. The birds, The birds.
You want ******** well come and find me. I'll be waiting, With a gun and a pack of sandwiches, And nothing. Nothing. Nothing.
Nothing.
You want me? Well come on and break the door down. You want ******** come on and break the door down, I'm ready. I'm ready. I'm ready.
I'm ready.
I'm ready.
I'm ready."

Radiohead "Talk Show Host" Album William Shakespeare's Romeo + Juliet. (1996)
This song made me fee like I was wandering down Tin-pan Alley with a pair of barrel pants on, with an outhouse over my head. Only it made me feel like I was doing that confidently. A hard-to-explain song, but it's the kinda thing I'd wanna walk home with on a warm, dry overnight at about three AM, with a spring in my step and a yo-yo in hand.
Very nice pick, Xan.

Ladytron "Destroy Everything You Touch" Album Witching Hour (2005)
Reminds me of my boyfriend.
"What you touch you don't feel Do not know what you steal Destroy everything you touch today Please destroy me this way"
I love this song. I told him, and he was like, "That's kinda kinky." I laughed, guess it is.
