Religious Conflict?Facts: If I may now direct your attention to this lovely thread created by Elf Lord Chiewn which should have any and every fact you could possibly want. This is a great topic to discuss as it is a huge deal with the media (oh noes! I'm being brainwashed). I would like to hear your opinions and remind you that WE ARE NOT HERE TO BASH SOMEONE FOR THEIR SEXUAL ORIENTATION. Also, what people believe is what people believe. The way they see things brings a whole new look at some things that you might have not seen. If we everyone but one person was born colorblind, how would that one person ever be taken seriously? We need to be respectful and mature with the way we handle things.

Ahh, one of my personal favorites. Gay and Lesbian rights has long held debate, but honestly my question is, "Whats the big deal?" if you take out religious reasons (which state and church should be seperated) than any argument is comletely destroyed. If anyone would like to prestent arguments to me for either side, I would love to post them and either agree or dissagree, however if you disagree with gay rights then be prepared for me to destroy every argument from about thirty different angles (I spare no one) and I'll do the same to what I think is a bad argument, but don't let that stop you! biggrin I could go on forever so I think I'll stop now.

I think gays should at the very least get the same legal rights as straight couples by civil union. I think that in the furture, more people will be accepting of gays and there will be more legal civil unions and gay marriages.

I think that in the furture, more people will be accepting of gays and there will be more legal civil unions and gay marriages. Small minds discuss people, average minds discuss events and great minds discuss ideas. It isn't good and it is discrimination. It's mixing Church and State/country which is NEVER good because there will be an inequality in rights distributed to people.

Homosexuals have been around for ages. Shakespeare was an apparent bisexual and so were many famous artists in the 1800's. They were not liked then and they probably won't be liked now. In the Roman era, when Peganism was the universal religion, homosexuals were accepted because it did not matter what sexual orientation you were. Now that we are a christian society it's hard to get around being homosexual. If we stay a Christian society I doubt that we will ever accept the homosexuals into our everyday life. If you are arguing about seperating religion or state from this argument, or for any, it will never happen.

Yes but both of those have the very strong argument behind them that God created all men (and women) equal. It talks specifically about homosexuality in the Bible (in Leviticus) and that it is wrong.
Now, if you are going to argue that times have changed since then and that the laws of the Bible should be taken and revised for the new times, should we also re-write the 10 commandments to say that killing is right? That we can take the Lords name in vain and talk smack about Him? No, God wrote the Bible the way that He did knowing that in the future people would still believe. We have no right to re-write something that He wrote taking into consideration all that He knows (which is everything).
