There are so many books being made into movies lately! It's absolute insanity! o_O

As a completely obsessive Potter fan, I am very, very bias against movies that have been made from books. I find that they leave out far too much and are just overall not as enjoyable. The problem is that movies and books are really COMPLETLEY different mediums and things that you can easily do in a book can not look great in a movie-- for instance, hearing multiple character's thoughts... or simple narraration. Books leave almost everying up to imagination and interpretation, while movies are usually to be taken at face value.

I think that, in order to properly enjoy a movie based off of a book, you have to take it as an entirely different entity. If you go into a theatre expecting to see your exact vision of a book presented in wide-screen, you are always going to be disappointed.

The Da Vinci Code:
As prior said there are endless amounts of details left to wallow in the winds. But both media types of this story were enjoyable.

...I strongly suggest you not talk about that book in my presence. >___>

And all movies made from books are horrible.

I did enjoy the Lord Of the Rings, even though they strayed quite a bit from the book. I would love to see a Dragonriders of Pern movie, but they always seem to fall through!

So many movies based on books are SO TERRIBLE you wonder how on EARTH they made it into theaters in the first place. o__o;;

Lemme name a few terribly ones off the bat, er;;
Queen Of The Damned. What. The. HELL. They just made some crappy love movie and called it Queen Of Damned because it sounded nice. Poor Anne Rice, to be put to that..
(Interview With The Vampire was acurate, though. :3)

A Series Of Unfortunate Events. I HATED those movies.

I agree about the lack of book based info placed in the Harry Potter films. Especially in movie 4. That was simply chaos and completely out in left field.

Nancy Drew books:
The books are your typical child-sleuth stories, fun but a little frustarting for the older reader, because, lets face it, you're not a kid anymore. There was a whole line of similar concepts (Encyclopedia Brown, The Hardy Boys, The Three Detectives, The Boxcar Children, ect.) and they all managed very original plots and concepts, but most didn't play fair. You couldn't solve the mystery yourself until a character tells you all of the facts at the very end. Encyclopedia Brown is an exception.

"Angels and Demons" is also coming to film this year. The book is captivating, I have yet to read "The Da Vinci Code".

I enjoyed reading the "Twilight" series, I imagined the book and characters differently, some things were cleared up but there was a lot lacking from it. Personally I hope the second is better since there is no need for any more background, all the main characters are mostly set.
